Any tips for RC?

ZaTablerZaTabler Alum Member

Hey there I'm averaging -11 on RC. (156) I have done the CC method of RC and my score went up a little, but does anyone have any tips to further increase my score?

Particularly tips for speed. If I skip a passage I get -0 on the passage in which I take a little more time.

Any and every bit of info will be appreciated. Thanks :D

    All great advice!

Honestly, a combination of the memory method, method of LOCI, The LSAT Trainer, MSLAT RC, and Powerscore RC all helped me. I kind of used what worked and jettisoned what didn't. RC can be a very idiosyncratic section to master, if that makes sense. Some people will swear by notations and others don't make a mark. Also, shout out to Nicole Hopkins for her notation strategy discussed in her Webinar. Good stuff!

I rely heavily on the Method of Loci to remember things along with 7Sage's memory. Reading for structure and not details is also a good global tip if you're having trouble. In my experience, having a good memory and consistent strategy (just like LG) is very helpful with RC. You really want to approach each passage the same way, looking for the same things, regardless of the subject matter.

Once you get good, you want to get confident and trust your memory more and more so you have to look back at the passage less and less. I redid many passages both timed and untimed until I was going -0 on retakes and accessing why I was missing questions. BR'ing RC is time consuming, but the improvements will come. Just not as quickly as LG or LR.

    Good luck!

There is an RC study group that meets on Thursday, you should join us. I think we're going over PT 30 RC this week.
