Hey everyone, I am just trying to understand how the LSAT writing section works. Is it something that is optional or do most schools require it?

Its a requirement. You can't receive your score without taking the writing assessment.

@"Law and Yoda" Oh ok thank you. I was also able to find a FAQ's page on the LSAC website regarding when it is taken and all that.

The LSAT writing section is mandatory, but it doesn't factor into your score. It's a sample of your writing skills, which schools may review as part of your application. Most schools don't weigh it heavily, but it's still essential to complete it.
