When to make a game board?

Sometimes when I'm doing the games, I take too long to decide when to split the game boards. Any rule of thumb? Thanks!

Just do it. The only wasted time is time spent debating. Put pencil to paper and get moving. Then once you've done 100+ games you'll start to develop a feel for when to do it and when not to... There is no grand unified theory of splitting but there are a lot of little tips (e.g.- don't split when there are less questions than possible game boards). But even if you split and don't get past putting in one or two pieces, or you made a game board that doesn't work, those are all value added scenarios because you have just set yourself up for success a tiny bit more.
