I'd say you're onlydoing yourself a disservice if, in the absence of said notes, you get questions wrong. If you're not having any trouble visualizing those questions while not writing notes, no reason to start.

I think you can definitely do it! It's just really important that you study every day. I find that doing3 hours a day, split into two sessions, works well. This will keep you from getting too overwhelmed and is enough time to make progress.
