I just took pt 156 and did so awful I feel like throwing up. Literally did worse on it than on my last two actual LSAT attempts. I'm genuinely sobbing at the library right now. I have no idea how I'm gonna reach my target score of 165 when I just got a 153 on this PT. I hate this test so much it literally kills my spirit. Gonna review it tomorrow but I just feel so discouraged right now.

Hey,
LSAT prep is brutal, there’s no doubt about it. It’s draining. Physically, mentally, emotionally, financially. It’s hard to get through in the first place. Spending hours learning new concepts, drilling difficult questions, those few question types you just can’t seem to get right, and bland RC passages can really add up.
Plus, there are so many sacrifices made too. You don’t get to have a social life anymore, maybe you had to reduce work hours and therefore are making less money. Plus, life doesn’t stop for education, as my philosophy professor said. Things like family emergencies and life stuff in general will not pause for the LSAT.
If you’re writing in October or November, you still have time to improve. If you’re writing next week, I recommend revising the test tomorrow, maybe some light studying, but to make sure you have a few days off before the exam. If not, you’ll stress yourself out, and end up doing worse.
My advice: Life goes on. I truly do believe in you to hit your goal of 165. You have put so much work into preparing, and you are going to do this. Don’t study the day before or the morning of the test, sleep as much as you can, eat a nutritious breakfast, and take a nutritious snack with you. Take a deep breath when you start the test. Everything is going to be okay.
You’re going to get into law school.
@mjfromcanada Thank you for your encouragement I really appreciate it! Thankfully not taking the September LSAT, but I am taking it in October and November. I'm just stressed but I know all I can do is reframe getting answers wrong as opportunities to learn and not just pure failure. Good luck on all your endeavors my friend :)
PT 156 is known to be one of the hardest PT's with lots of students showing a 6 or more point decrease in their scores so don't let one test discourage you!!!
@jennawiese thank you :)
If it makes you feel better, me too at the library just took it and it was 150 score :(
@ANNASHAHVERDYAN it's so discouraging but we got this. we just have to embrace the fact that wrong answers are opportunities to learn. Good luck on your studying and your test!
@pomergranatewellbutrin Thankkk youu, wishing you the best too
One of my friends took 156 the week before her test and scored 7 points higher on her official exam than she did on 156. It whacked me, too, so don't worry. I would go over it again for review (if you want), but don't stress about it.
@flowerberry thank you! that's very encouraging to hear because that pt score was such an anomaly it threw me off so badly
Literally this is the thing that isn't talked about enough 🥀. I'm sorry you went through that. I know we are all in different ranges and some people's goal score is a 153, but going down is really discouraging and a confidence breaker...
Each PT needs a lot of focus throughout the 2.5-4 hours of doing it and that is very demanding plus the testing conditions or what we ate or how we slept or are thinking/stressing over...then just to see a jumpscare of the score is draining. I will be optimistic for you and give you positive thoughts and say that this might be just an outlier since external stuff does impact our PTs more than what we think...(lack of concentration/zoning out is brutal on RC too and I do worse on days I stress or ran into personal issues 😭).
I agree with the chat in what they are saying, especially @mjfromcanada! Please don't beat yourself about this one. You got this! You'll get 'em the next time! 💪😌
@Bobby68 Thank you so much you guys are so encouraging <3. I agree there's so many different factors that can affect performance outside of basic knowledge and makes it so much more complicated but I just have to power through off days. I also zone out really badly on RC not even my Adderall can keep me completely locked in lmao. But thank you so much, good luck on testing and/or your application cycle!
I am there with you in the struggle. My target is 165 as well. I took PT 153 today and got a 157 which is lower than my actual and lowest PT since February . I am also taking it in October and will likely sign up for November. We will get there. Best of luck to you, friend : )
@JCSamson11 This can all be so humbling but I agree we will get there :) I'm also am taking October and signed up for November after taking PT156 the other day because I'm not sure October is enough time but we'll see! Good luck my friend thank you for your encouragement <3
