Hi All!

I am preparing my application materials for the upcoming cycle including various essays (personal statement, etc.). I noticed that there is a compiled list on 7Sage of the required/optional application materials for schools. However, for some schools there are optional essay topics listed that aren't listed on the schools' websites (ex: Cornell). I was wondering if that means that there are questions that we only have access to after the application cycle begins.

Who is interested in giving me an unfiltered, no holds barred assessment of my personal statement?

How long should it be?

I'm really intent on going to a law school where I live because of family factors/etc. I take the LSAT in October and expect to be at least at their 75th percentile for LSAT and far above their 75th percentile for GPA. The financial aspect is really important to me so I'm curious how I should navigate the application process. Do I apply to other schools and use their offers to negotiate? Do I apply early in the cycle or later on? What do you think is best considering I know where I want to go and just want to see what they can offer me?

Last year I got a lot of unsolicited fee waivers when my LSAT score was released. I'm trying to apply as early as possible this year but would also like to take advantage of free apps. Anybody have any personal experience with when the fee waiver emails start rolling in?

I'm planning to apply to a merit scholarship ED program, but I'm torn between BU and GW.

Here's the deal: I'm currently planning to pursue some type of criminal or national security law (either at the DA, US Attorney, or other federal law enforcement agency like FBI or NSA.) I'm drawn to GW, just because the location will afford me to be closer to lots of national agencies and make more connections. Additionally, they have a national security law specialty, which is rare at most other schools.

However, I've heard some negative feedback about GW and am also slightly deterred by the huge class size. Additionally, I'm worried about making a decision based solely on location because there's a chance I won't end up pursuing this type of law.

As for BU, I've read that they attract some really renowned professors and scholars, which is very appealing. Also, the class size is much smaller and it is still located in a large city, which will afford me some connections.

I really want to apply to one of the merit scholarship ED programs and I do feel like I can confidently choose one of these schools, especially with some additional insight for all of you. Thoughts?

I sent transcripts from all of the schools I've attended to LSAC a month ago. Since I got my masters degree from the same school I got undergrad, whenever I request transcripts both of my undergrad and masters degree transcripts are sent together in one PDF. But for some reason, while LSAC shows that they received my undergrad transcript, they didn't get my masters transcript yet. I'm wondering whether I should request another transcript to be sent to LSAC from my school.. I'd like to call LSAC but they seem to be busy and currently not confirming whether they got transcripts via phone call. Would really appreciate any advice on this. Thank you so much in advance!!

Hi, I'm going to be writing a diversity statement and in addition to some extensive googling, I wanted to know if anyone here has had success writing DS's or has some sage, or 7sage (bad joke) advice for writing a good DS. Should retail/restaurant jobs be included on your resume if you don't have any other kind of work experience?

I'm sorry if my post is outside the usual scope of 7sage discussions, but I was curious to see if anybody else is in a similar situation as me or has any advice to share.

When I originally decided to go to law school, I was planning on going to law school in the United States (where I'm from), but after evaluating some extenuating circumstances in my life, I decided it would be best for my health to go to Ireland for law school where I can get better access to medical care (I'm a type one diabetic if anybody is wondering). I'm still planning on taking the LSAT, but I was wondering if there was anybody on here who knows anything about international law school admissions (specifically in Ireland) or if there's anybody who's in a similar situation as me. I'm in the process of applying and came across a school that wants an explanation for the variance in the LSAT score. My LSAT scores are 161 -> 167. I wasnt too sure what the "correct" explanation is or what they are looking for here. Thoughts?

Does one have a better chance of getting into a school if they are applying to a specific program/ field of study ?

Two years ago I had planned to apply to law schools (didn't end up applying because of my LSAT score & wanted to take some time off), and I had two recommenders submit letters through LSAC on my behalf. Now that I'm going through the process for applications again, how do I allow them to submit new letters? I've already tried deleting the old ones (can't do that) and adding each recommender again (also can't do that). Does anyone know what to do?

My top choice for law school is Boston College as it is the only school in Massachusetts that offers a dual JD/MSW program. My undergraduate GPA is above their 75th percentile but I am currently PTing under their 25th percentile LSAT. I was wondering about if I should write an LSAT addendum. Should I write one only if I score below their 25th percentile or below their median? And what would be considered good reasons for why my LSAT doesn't reflect how I will preform in law school? Like I said my undergrad GPA was a 3.83 in a philosophy major that required a lot of difficult reading and writing. I've been studying since the beginning of the summer but timing is a big issue (which I am getting accommodations for due to disability). I didn't take a lot of tests in college which I think is also why it's hard for me. Plus the whole studying during a pandemic when I am out of work and anxiety is high. Any thoughts??

I'm looking for a study buddy so that we can motivate each other and also work through/review some difficult questions together. in the late 70s and 80s I believe mental wellbeing is super important, so I would prefer working with someone who is a good communicator that has (or tries) to have a positive attitude toward the LSAT!

I have gone through the Powerscore LG and LR Bibles, LSAT Trainer, JY's LG videos, and Loophole. I have completed every PT from 50-89....and working on foolproofing LG

I would say my weakest section is RC and strongest section is LG, but I really want to do well in every section because each part is weighted equally now.

I would like to meet once or twice a week; evenings EST work best for me, so that would be ideal!

I'm not quite sure what constitutes as a Professional/Occupational License, as there is no list. I'm assuming careers like nursing and trade unions are a given. But how long is the list?

For my example I've been in the Food, Beverage and Hospitality for almost a decade now. I was at a point to studying to become a certified wine educator. I got as far as "advanced" but no "diploma". The link below explains a lot more of what the certifications entail.

Is anyone else developing a crazy love/hate relationship with Autofill in the apps? It's nice to have certain fields populate, but man, be careful because it can create mistakes if you don't watch it like a hawk.

I will take the LSAT in Jan (and it will be my first and only LSAT score) but some schools' application deadline is Feb 1st. I'm a little bit worried if I should force myself to have a try on Nov LSAT (I have already registered it but feel not very confident, consider to cancel it)

I wondered will I be able to submit the application without LSAT score?

Hey! Random question, but do you need to update schools about employment changes after you've submitted your application? I know you have to update them on any character and fitness changes, but I am not sure about employment changes. Tbh I hate my job and want to quit, but I don't want to look bad to law schools by doing so (especially because it's at a law firm). TIA!
