Should I apply as early as possible for early consideration to my top school (or all my target schools) before I have the LSAT score I want? Should I retake sooner (Sept) rather than later (Dec)? Can I mention in my application/addendum that I am retaking the LSAT? Will I be able to submit an updated score once I retake?

Or should I wait to retake and then apply?

I took the June LSAT and while I underperformed compared to my PTs I know for sure that I hit the numbers for some law schools I'll be applying to! So yeah I am one step closer to going to law school. :) I was scoring 160 consistently for 5 PTs between April and May (PT68-73) , but the week before the test I wrote three consecutive 157s on more recent PTs (still had a lot of 'aha moments), and scored 154 officially in June. My first LSAT, June '14 was a 150.

That said, my intent is to apply as early as possible this cycle. My target school is UC Hastings, which I don't quite have the numbers for yet (3.2/154). Perhaps my diversity statement, work experience and volunteer experience at Hastings will bridge the gap. However, I don't want to barely get in on hardship sympathy, I want to earn my place and so I plan to retake and improve my LSAT score significantly. Other schools I'm targeting, USF, Santa Clara and Golden Gate U., I have the necessary numbers, but not sufficient numbers for significant scholarship money. I'm confident, based on my study habits that I can score higher by September, but I would prefer to take December in order to improve by 10+ points.

Hey all, I've seen some people suggest saving some PTs so, in the event one needs a retake, you still have access to some virgin PTs. With my current PT schedule, I will be writing 11 more PTs, all from the 70s and 80s, before I write the LSAT in September. This would leave me with only PT C2 left as virgin and, of course, those tests that are released subsequently.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Should I save a few more? Should I not worry? I have two more years of my BA before I can go to law school, so I would probably wait about a year before rewriting.

Hey 7sagers,

I hope everyone is rocking their LSAT studying today.

I am sure a lot of you are super ambitious and zealous like me when creating your daily LSAT study plans. I am not sure if many of you experience this – but I need some advice. How do you know that you are creating a daily schedule/plan that is doable? For example, one day you plan out that you are going to do 5 LG and 1 set of RC practice questions and unfortunately you are only able to complete 3 LG games. Do you the next day just complete the work that you did not do from the previous day or do you move on with your next day study plan?

For me some days – I am really on my game and complete my daily study goals. However, other days’ certain questions take me so long because I am really trying to make sure that the answer choice I choose is 100% correct. This gets me a little bit freaked out as you feel that you are just falling behind with your studying. I do not know about you all – but I hate that feeling!

If you have gone through this and have any tips on overcoming this – please let me know.

Thanks in advance and have an amazing day peeps!

Any pointers on how I can improve my speed on RC without reducing accuracy levels? I'm doing quiet good but I find myself with one passage unread after the 35 mins is up. And also does fool-proofing LG work?

Hey, girls and guys.

I'm not feeling too confident about July. I had been PTing in the low-mid 170s for my last 15+ PTs with test-like conditions. I first took the LSAT three years ago in June 2015 cold (156). I have since graduated from college and have been working for two years.

I sat in June and scored below 170, so of course I'd retake as I am a splitter. I was very surprised when I saw my score, but I chalked it up to being jetlagged (I arrived in America just a couple days prior). I left the test center pretty confident in June, but I can't say the same for last Monday. I wouldn't be surprised if I scored even lower than June. I already know I missed at least two questions, and I guessed on the last 2 in LG.

Should I cancel?

Question Bank

Hi, so I'm fairly new to 7sage. I am just 3 weeks into studying the CC. I just had a question on the best way and time to incorporate the question bank into my studying. Would you guys say it is better to do the question bank after topics or to save it for the weeks when there are just practice tests (so I can target my weaknesses and work on that more)?

Officially registered!

Okay, I just had to tell someone. I am officially registered for the October LSAT (in Asia). We are stationed in northern Japan, so I will be making the 800 mile trek to Tokyo for the exam. Anyone here ever tested overseas? Anyone else testing in Asia? Anyhow, I'm super excited and nervous right now and just had to share. :-)

So, what now?

I took the July Lsat and signed up for the September one. I spent about 9 months studying, and I now realize I'm pretty much out of preptests.... Do I just start redoing them?

Hi everyone,

I have wanted to apply to a regional school; however, the website states that multiple LSAT scores are averaged. This will work to my disadvantage since I cancelled once, then had a really disappointed LSAT performance. I would have to score a 175 or higher to pull my average LSAT score to their median.

I wanted to get some input whether I should just forget about applying that school, and set focus on another regional school with lower LSAT median.

Needless to say I am applying to both. Have any of you experienced something similar to this? Were you able to get in, get waitlisted, etc?

Would love some input. Thanks!

Gap Between Actual and BR Score

I have a large gap between my actual PT score and my blind review score. I have been consistently scoring in the 168-169 range but am BRing in the 177-179 range. If anyone has had a similar experience what is the best way to get over this?

Hello everyone,

I am working towards taking the November LSAT as my first test. I had hoped to take the September test, but missed the deadline by one day (flew home from Asia and mindlessly thought the deadline was the 1st). I have been studying on and off since March, but plan on studying full-time now that I have graduated.

I have a few questions; is it wise to submit applications before my LSAT score comes through? If I score lower than expected in November, would it be okay to test again in January? If I do test again in January, should I hold off applying until I receive those scores? Or should I submit early and have my updated scores sent in as they come?

I read that applying around December is fairly acceptable as long as you aren't shooting for ED. I was in the top 15% at my school (UCSB) and my first raw PT was 163. I am hoping to raise that by at least 5 points. Although I am only applying to one T-14, most others are still in the T-50. Sorry for all the questions, feeling a little frantic about making this cycle!

Thanks so much!

BR vs Time

Hi,

I am taking the September LSAT and have taken about 8 practice tests thus far and have been between 157 and 160 on all of them, however my BR is much much higher, as High as 169. This is especially true on LR, where I am normally -5-8 and BR -1-3. I have about 40 days left and would love to score around 162-165. Is this possible and what is my best course of action.

I went online to pay for the test today and realized I have missed the deadline for the September exam. I just only decided on pursuing law school two weeks ago and have since begun 7sage curriculum. Is the November test too late to use to apply to Top 50 schools? My GPA is not great (2.8-3.1) but my diagnostic exam had me at a 160 and my most recent had me at a 165. Any advice welcome:) Thank you!

Skipping for the win

For the love of all that is holy please tell me how to skip questions. I can skip like nobody’s business with LG but I never skip any LR or RC question. I always finish my sections but I think this is really inhibiting me from getting higher LR scores because I sink the most time on hard questions and I’m noticing in BR that I’m getting a ton of easy ones wrong to make up for lost time. Any advice? #help

Hi,

I was hoping to ask for advice from those of you who have experienced and have got passed a160 plateau.

I started studying for the LSAT in May and my initial diagnostic score was a 145. My last five recent PTs are 159, 159,162,160, and 160 and my blind review score average is around 170. After I do the blind review I get almost all LR right, maybe except one or two questions, and same goes for LG. But I still get around 5-6 wrong on RC. My goal is to get a 165 and I am writing the test in September.

My average incorrect answers in each section is as below:

LG: -4

LR: -5 each

RC: -8 (I am an ESL student so at best I have to spend 3:30 min on each passage)

Right now I am doing three PTs a week and I do BR after each plus I am still fool proofing more rare/mapping/pattern games.

Since I got almost the same score in my last 5 PTs I have started questioning the effectiveness of doing only PTs followed by BR. What I am not sure about is whether doing PTs is going to increase my score or should I still do more drills and work on my techniques.

Thank you :)

Cancel?

Hey everyone.

So I just took the July LSAT, and it really couldn't have gone worse for me. I was retaking a low 170s score, hoping for a 174+. I figured a retake was in order because I scored well below my PT average in June, and I made silly mistakes on LG.

With how poorly I feel I did on July though, I'm really contemplating cancelling my score and sitting for October/January. My test order was LR LG LR LR RC, and almost everything went wrong.

The first LR section was abnormally difficult for me, and I only finished with 4 minutes to spare rather than my usual of 8-10 minutes. I could easily see myself going -3/-5 for this section as there were several questions where I could not find a correct answer choice.

LG was my second section, and it went terribly. LG is already my worst section, but I misread a rule on the first game which caused me to waste precious minutes on trying to find my error. I was flustered for the rest of the section and I didn't have time to adequately address the fourth game which was a monster of a circular game. I'm guessing easily -6/-10 on this section alone.

Although RC is usually one of my best sections, I had RC as my dead last section and I was pretty tired/extremely demoralized from my performance in LG. I usually go -1 for RC, but honestly I could see myself going -4/-5 for this RC section.

Honestly, it feels like I'm going to go -14 to -20 for this exam, which would put my score well under what I scored in June. How bad does it look to have such a huge score regression? I'm so incredibly frustrated right now -- I take all my PTs in strict timed conditions and my average is mid/high-170s but I feel like I'll never actually score that high when LSAC decides to throw twice-a-decade curve ball questions at my head. As it stands, this exam is looking worse than my first ever post-cc exam, and almost as bad as my diagnostic.

September or November?

I took the test today. Needless to say, not feeling good. I already cancelled once. This was my second take. I know I did poorly. The deadline to sign up for September is in 45 minutes. Is there any downside to waiting until November? At this point I’m not sure if it’s for me, even though I want to try one last time. I made great improvements but today was just... off. Logic games were nothing like what I was prepping. Was constantly getting -5 max and I’m lucky to have gotten 10 right today. Any help appreciated. Not sure if I should keep the dream alive or get my masters in teaching starting this September.

"I Like It" is the song of the summer. Don't believe me, believe NPR: https://www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/2018/06/21/622103234/our-2018-songs-of-the-summer

I like J.Y.’s explanations, they really really rock

I like timing LSAT sections, spin the bezel on my watch

They call me Cardi. Bardi. LSAT study.

Hop outta school, open my books

Fool proofing logic games, hard as I can

After law school I’ll be driving a Lam’ ;)

Told my friends I'm sorry though

'Bout LSAT, can’t party, bros

Yeah they call me Cardi Bri, I train LSAT like cardio!

Be sure to check out my Soundcloud!! LOL JK I defs do not have a Soundcloud. The only reason I would ever post such a thing is because my identity is 99% anonymous here :)

I couldn't get my mind off today's LSAT so this was my way of decompressing and having a little fun :) Hope ya'll enjoyed!!

Hey guys,

I’m taking the test in a few days and I am disconcerted by extreme test variation. I took C2 and got a 175 then took test 77 today and got a 167. On tests in the 50s I invariably get in the 170s, but in tests in the 70s and 80s I get mid to upper 160s. I can’t find a pattern in what I’m getting wrong on these tests. Does anyone have ideas about what makes these tests different than I can drill and focus on?

Thanks in advance!

Jessica
