Mistake With My Photo

I stupidly ignored the updates about changing my photo before the deadline, because I uploaded the same photo that I used for my June take and figured that it would be fine for September. Just now, I realized that it doesn't conform to the 2x2 box (I'm assuming that this is a new guideline). Now that I can't change my photo, does anybody have any recommendations about what I should do? Im tempted to ignore it, but I know that that is most likely a bad call.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert by any means, so take this advice with a grain of salt. I would take a PT and do a really solid BR to help you understand where your weak points are. Based on your results from the June test, it seems like you could benefit from revisiting the foolproof method of LG. I would consider revisiting the LG drills from the curriculum to really solidify your strategy. I personally supplemented my course with the Powerscore Logic Games Bible, but I'm not sure that it really added much.

In terms of LR and RC, I think your decision to revisit the curriculum should be based on whether or not you have a good understanding of the fundamentals. Are there specific question types that you are not understanding? When you BR, are you able to understand why the right answer choice is right and why the others are wrong? For example, if you are always making mistakes on weakening questions and don't understand why the right answer choice is right, then you should probably revisit the lessons on that specific question type.

I don't think that the increase you are looking to make is unrealistic given your plan to study full time. That being said, if you don't see the increase in a month or so, I would consider postponing your rewrite.

@ @ Thanks guys! I had an idea about what to do, but hearing it out from other people makes it feel like a more legitimate game plan. I can't stop second guessing myself after spending the last month overconfident about my score lol

I'm in a similar position. Scored 6 points below where I wanted to be. I think my plan is to take a PT from the 50s or 60s and really analyze my weak spots based on my BR. Then, I will make a plan of attack. I think that will involve revisiting some curriculum, watching webinars, re-working my strategy in certain sections, etc. Then drill and PT until September!

Advice for Re-takers?

I didn't reach my goal on the June test, and will need to rewrite in September. I am wondering if any of you who rewrote can give me some advice on the best way to start studying for the upcoming test. Before June, I was PT-ing right within the range of what I needed to score (170+), but I dropped the ball on test day (166). I'm assuming my drop was related to anxiety, but some of my scores took a hit in the weeks/days leading up to the test as well. I can't decide if I should revisit the curriculum, or just pick up where I left off and keep PT/BR-ing. Or maybe I should supplement 7sage with other materials.

This is a very subjective question and I'm sure the answer varies depending on the individual. That being said, I would love to hear how you all handled the rewrite.

Thanks!

I just wanted to update everyone and say that this was a nonissue for me today, incase you make a similar mistake in the future.

-6 drop two weeks before test day

Hi 7sagers,

I just wrote preptest 72, and experienced a -6 drop from my score on preptests 70 and 71. Aside from this, I have been experiencing an upward trend, with a fairly consistent score of 170. The scores that have deviated from this in the past are explainable in terms of hunger, poor sleep, etc. - conditions I am learning to eliminate and work through if necessary. That being said, there is nothing obvious that I can point to to explain the drop on this test. I was having some issues with focus, but nothing out of the ordinary. I am conscious that it could be due to an upward trend in difficulty on the newer tests, and perhaps the fact that I have only written 16 tests in total, so my reaction is to want to push myself and write as many as I can before June 6th. However, I don't want to overdo it and write too many because I have heard that it is best to take it relatively easy in the weeks prior to test day. I need to score 170+ on test day, or else I will need to rewrite. Can anyone offer any insight on how I should approach these next two weeks?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks 7sage!

I just wanted to say a BIG thank you to all of the amazing people who make 7sage a possibility. I scored 170 on the September test, which is a 20 pt increase from my diagnostic. This increase would probably not have been possible without this program - I have been with 7sage from the beginning of my prep and hardly used any other material along the way. After a year and two takes, I have (hopefully) scored high enough to get me into my dream school!!

THANK YOU!!!

My unsolicited bias tells me that you should stick to the west so that we have a shot of going to school together again :)

I don't know if this had been said, but my experimental RC had a passage about Kafka.

@ You could try, but keep in mind that it's too late to change it at this point. If it would ease your mind though, you might as well give it a shot.

I wish that I had looked at this forum before I took PT 76 today. I was advised to take this last one under more relaxed conditions, so I did it without the experimental and took short breaks between sections. I was feeling confident until I scored it, and well... I think we all can guess how this story ends. I went from an average of -1 in LR to -8 in one LR section. I would STRONGLY recommend avoiding the mistake I made, and staying away from a possible shake in confidence this close to Monday.

@ One of the few factors that you can control is your confidence in your abilities when you sit for the test. I would avoid anything that could potentially undermine my personal ability to perform at my optimum.

This.

Everyone's different, but I know what I would do if I could go back in time. Good luck on Monday, regardless!

Personal Statement

What is the consensus on talking about things not explicitly mentioned in your application? In a discussion about social justice, I have a sentence that goes something along the lines of:

"... I have always been inclined to help when I can. For instance, I spent a year as an ****** at *******, I have grown up serving food at ******, and I have helped organize a demonstration on campus to...."

I have listed the first under the extra-curricular section of my application, but the other two have not been mentioned because (a) I don't have a contact for the second one because I don't go on a consistent basis, and (b) there is not a relevant place for me to mention the third one. Should I just leave these two out, or are they worth keeping in there? If it helps, it is part of a larger discussion about why I want to be a lawyer, and less about listing off my accomplishments.

This was LSAC's response this morning

You would not be able to change your uploaded photo at this time, however please be advised that your current photo appears to meet all requirements listed online for the admission ticket. Please be advised that admittance to the exam will be determined by the test center supervisor on test day, who will confirm that your photo meets all requirements, and matches your appearance on the day of the test.

To reiterate what others are saying, I think we will be okay!

@ The guidelines state

The photo must completely fill the 2”x2” (195px x 195px) photo display box It also shows a photo with white around the edges as an example of an unacceptable photo. I may be wrong, but I am taking this to mean that there can't be any white in the box :/
