Can someone explain why Question 5 necessitates the separation of politicians and the elite? Why is there p-corrupt and e-corrupt? I just inferred that those groups were the same for the purposes of this prompt, but I feel like merging them may not be appropriate.
Why can I not break Question 2 up as:
there are impacts from space -> every planetary society will be endangered
I feel like this reads better than the actual solution given, because putting "planetary society → endangered by impacts from space" back into English reads:
If there are planetary societies, then they must be endangered by impacts from space.
Don't really know if this distinction is important.
I had this question on a PrepTest and got it wrong there... then ended up seeing it here and got it wrong again. Agony.
Was stuck between A and C the whole time so to find both of those were wrong was like ouch lmao
Got every other one right so far in the past few sections but this one kicked my ass... and turns out its a lower rated question than those. Damn!!
My thought process was that A, B, and E are all wrong for the same reason: the stimulus is NOT about storytellers. Its about the stories themselves and the features they have; it makes no assessment about the storytellers or their qualities. D is a tempting answer, but not as encompassing as C. D restricts the comparison to across time exclusively, but the stimulus is much more broad; it states this comparison is UNIVERSAL, across all of time (past and present) as well as anywhere in the world. Additionally, and perhaps more obviously, the stimulus does not make any value judgment regarding "importance" (though admittedly this reason was a bit less immediately intuitive for me personally). C is then the best answer, because it is the most representative of what the stimulus states: certain interests arise in ALL of the world's cultures, which follows if we take the premises to be true.
At least I got it in blind review...
After looking at this again at a better time (not 4am...) I think I see where I got held up. It's the condition of "JUST" for its value as an investment. When I read this prompt, I internalized it as "if it is valued as an investment, you shouldn't buy it," which can't be as neatly categorized as essentially identical to the second premise.
That being said... I'm really not getting how E is notably more stand-out as the answer here. Our conclusion is that she should NOT buy the vase. Looking at this...
"While Matilde likes the color and features of the vase, its particular style has frequently been reproduced for the mass market, and the vase cannot be examined closely or authenticated over the Internet."
Okay, so she likes the colors and features of the vase, therefore she likes it for its intrinsic qualities. That's a point for "should" buy it. Necessarily, following the logic in the video, she must then NOT just value it for an investment... another reason she should buy it, or at least a subset of that same reason. The only thing E states that could be against it is that it can't be authenticated over the internet. As the answer explanation states, there's still a fairly reasonable argument to be made that there are other methods by which she could authenticate the vase, which only in the most generous interpretation means there's one reason she shouldn't buy it and two reasons she should.
Considering this, I don't see how B is not at least equivalent in validity. Does the seller's insistence that they will take the vase back if Matilda cannot authenticate it not an indicator that she may have some concerns about doing so? Is the only mention of the vase's qualities being its value as an investment not an implication towards what is important about it to her? This reads to me like there's at least two points of concern about the vase. I know the question just asks for MOST helps, but I am really struggling to see why E is the most valid one here.
Spent 4 minutes and got it wrong... i've been doing this stuff for like 5 hours today aaaa
My instant gut answer was A but I spent about 6 minutes going through every answer to make sure. Got it right still but like... the second guessing is brutal with these
