    Study Group NYC 2016

I'm looking to start a study group for NYC area. I am personally studying for the June test. It could be a BR group. Anything really. I just think that studying together is a lot more motivating than studying alone.

    0

    Hello,

I usually try to wake up around 6 - 7 AM to go work or study. Since I am taking the June LSAT and want to condition my mornings as close as possible to the morning of June 6th, how should a morning person best prepare before taking the PTs/LSAT exam at 12:30 PM? Does anybody have any special routine that has worked for them leading up to 12:30 PM without hitting a mid-afternoon slump? Possibly how to keep your brain functioning at peak level?

Feb peeps! Please take a look at this tentative schedule below and comment your thoughts/revisions. You should also add me on Skype. My username is dmlevine76 . Please include in your friend request message that you want to get into the February Group .

NOTE: I front-loaded the PT 70s for Fridays because I believe that people need to get eyes on 70s sooner rather than later. We’ll still have PT 76 and PT 77 available to PT in February. After we’ve finished the 70s, we could do the lower 40s on Fridays. Trust me when I say it is worth it to do these tests twice.

    Note:

  • For the newbies and regulars: Add me on Skype, using handle dmlevine76.
  • Note:PLEASE INCLUDE IN YOUR FRIEND REQUEST

MESSAGE THAT YOU WANT TO BE ADDED TO THE

    FEBRUARY TEST GROUP.

We’ll now have two sets of Skype chats going on

(quite literally at the same time), and the potential

for miscommunication is pretty high. Thanks for your help.

  • For everyone: take the PT under timed conditions; BR as you are able; join us for all or part of the call—everyone is welcome.

Like PT77 game 4, how do you know if grouping game can be done using a chart ? During my preptest i used 3 column (x,y,z) with three rows (L,S,T) and it took me lots of time to complete. Is there any clue, that shows a game can be done using a chart ?

    Hi!

Though I watched JY's video explanation on this question,

I cannot still figure out what is a significant difference between an answer choice (A) and (C).

I thought "cultural relationships" in (A) can entail the meaning of how much external cultural influences affect the lives of people.

Could you explain these two answer choices further?

    Thanks!

I've been averaging in the mid-150s on the prep tests and I don't know what to do. I have been studying fiendishly for the last two months and my scores haven't improved. I really, really need a higher score and with test day only a month away I'm having a hard time keeping my spirits up and my head in the game. Does anyone have advice for how I could maybe approach this in a new, more useful way? Thanks, guys.

I don't think we can draw any valid inferences from the following two statements, but Manhattan LR says we can (pg.412)

    1. Some cars are sedans, and some cars are red.

    2. Most children play sports, and some children play instruments.

But no, we can't draw any valid inferences from them right??

If we do the RC practice passages and get all the questions right, is it worth spending our time going through the videos as well? I'm not sure I'm really getting much out of them, at least not at this point (I'm on practice set two, and I had some prior LSAT study a couple years ago so these aren't my first passages). I like to follow J.Y.'s reasoning for LR questions even if I get them right, because he often has more efficient/different approaches, but for RC passages, there doesn't seem to be much insight gained from going over questions I answered correctly (at least not thus far). Thanks!

So I've studied pretty much 6-8 hours a day since last Friday. Should I take a day off today since I plan on taking Feb 5th (the day before the Feb administration) off? I've had amazing momentum and I worry taking a day off will throw me off... then again since I plan on taking a PT tomorrow and doing zero work the day before next week's administration, taking today off would be more of a real simulation... Fellow Sagers, sway me in the right direction please!!

    Hi everyone,

Just curious if anyone has any advice on this issue. I have a number of schools that are holding off on reviewing my application until my February LSAT score comes back. My concern is that there may not be as many seats available by then. I talked to one school which is my 2nd choice and they said if they review your application before the Feb LSAT score is released, they will not re-review it after the new score comes back even if it is a better score.

I have only heard back from one school so far which is my last choice, I don't think they are even rated and they have offered me a full scholarship. However I am above their 75th percentile for LSAT but below their median for LSAC GPA.

For UNC, my 2nd choice I am at the 25th percentile for LSAT and below the 25th percentile for LSAC GPA. I am a non-traditional student with very strong softs, long professional working career, strong essays, statements etc. Obviously getting a higher LSAT would give me a better chance of scholarships, however I'm concerned there may not be as many seats available.

Should I ask them to go ahead and review my application or hold off until the Feb scores come back?

    Thank you

    Logic Games Crisis

My RC scores and LR scores are rather consistent.

They are not perfect but I usually go -2 (easier ones) to -5(more difficult ones) on LR and -3 to -6/7 (depending on difficulty).

Of course, I need to further ameliorate these sections as well, but my real problem is with LG.

    Two days ago, I got -2. On a good day I am getting - 0 or -1.

Today... I got - 10.... This has happened a few times before.

I got 10 wrong mostly because I ran out of time.

I have taken quite a number of PTs, and I have gone back to 30's because of the ample amount of time I have before June.

My RC and LR scores are usually not too far off from my usual testing range.

But why is it that my LG scores are drastically fluctuating?

I think I have timing issues on LG.

    What are possible remedies?

I'm reviewing my December 2015 LSAT report, practicing/drilling the LG section. I'm going over G1 and no matter how many times I work it, it seems like 2 of the 'correct' answers are just wrong. It's driving me crazy because this is a simple 1:1 sequencing game. Can I post the game or is that verboten?

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to share something that has helped speed up my BR process in hopes that it might help others. Some of you may have already been using this technique but I haven't heard anyone mention it so I thought I would share it just in case.

Now during BR I immediately after completing a question review the video for it on 7Sage rather than waiting to complete the whole BR process. This helps me to better solidify my understanding of the problem right away rather than it seeming more abstract after a longer period of time. Additionally by pausing the video before the JY goes through the answers I'm saving a lot of time.

This may not help others but I thought I would share it since it did help me with time and retention of information.

    equation for ONLY

    Hi 7sagers!

Although it's very basic, the word ONLY is bugging me time to time.

I wrote the conditional translations below. Are these correct?

given: The only reason that any problem remains unsovled is B.

Reason that any problem remains unsovled -> B

given: A is the only incentive that will be effective

incentive that will be effective -> A

given: Only reason that any problem remains unsovled is B

B -> reason that any problem remains unsolved

given: A is only incentive that will be effective

A-> incentive that will be effective

    Thanks alot!!

    Accommodation advice

After months and months of studying, February will be the second time I take the LSAT and time is still getting the best of me...

I was diagnosed with ADHD 5 years ago and used testing accommodations throughout college but when I heard (never verified) that LSAC flagged those who took the test with extended time and inquired about it to a of couple law schools, they told me that they weighed the scores differently so I automatically ruled it out of my agenda. However, I recently found out that as of over a year ago they NO longer flag those who take the test with accommodations. I couldn't believe it and I wish I submitted the necessary forms by the deadline. ( semi good news: I still have time to do so for the June test and that will be my last chance. But I am so burnt out I wouldn't want to take the test again five months from now)

I wanted to ask if there is anyone out there in a similar situation or who has ADHD and was granted more time on tests? I also mistakenly assumed since this diagnosis is very common, they would just not even accept it. There's a great article written about those who deserve accommodation and those who use it as a cop out. http://abovethelaw.com/2014/05/the-lsat-cant-discriminate-against-the-disabled-so-time-for-everybody-to-get-add/

I am very much the type of person to not have a disability define who I am (especially one such as ADHD) but the extra time is necessary in my situation in order to truly portray my capabilities.
