4months off work, yeah you can be successful. Just make sure to focus and make the best use of your time. Treat it like a job you have to show up to every weekday morning.
It depends on how long you intend to study full-time. I'd say 3-4months of full time study is a good amount for any person. Don't quit for an entire year though. I seriously doubt that studying for a full year full time is even possible

As a personal example, my diagnostic score was a 146 and on the February test (after 4months studying) I scored a 162. While I am currently studying to retake in September, I am definitely happy with my improvement!
