On September 1st, over a hundred law schools announced updated application requirements. No need to rush to LSAC -- we have them all for you here!

https://7sage.com/admissions/application-requirements

Some initial takes:

  • Lots of schools are adding Why X essays

  • Lots of schools are adding what we're calling the "agreeable disagreement" essay that Stanford, Yale, and Columbia were trying out in the last few cycles.

Check them out! If something still looks like it's from last year, that's because that school is waiting until either September 15th, 30th, or October 1st or 15th to announce their new requirements.

Happy applying! And if you want to dive deeper on any of this, come visit us at 7Sage Admissions.

Is there a way to see which schools made changes? On the app I don't see an indicator of which schools updated their reqs

@ErinSiodmak I noticed that the schools on the list that identified an early decision date were also the schools that had updated information for 2026-2027. The schools that lacked an ED date were providing data only for the 2025-2026 cycle. Not sure if this indicator works 100% of the time, but it was accurate for the dozen or so schools I just looked up.

@ErinSiodmak Check the deadline! Anything that says 2027 has been updated.

Thank you for the update Ethan. The agreeable disagreement essay seems like a fun essay topic.

Should I wait to submit my applications until after these changes are made, or is submitting before the changes are made still going to be good enough? I don't want to submit my application early/before the changes are made if doing so may harm my overall application.
