Does anyone have an example for this? Don't even know how to start a second LOCI. Do I reference my first LOCI in it? Any advice would be appreciated on how to even frame such a letter. I am waitlisted at my top school and recently found out about a program very unique to this school that I believe would be helpful to my career. Would mentioning it now (in a second letter) be odd? I don't want to come off like I didn't do my research before but the info on this program was just not where I was looking before.

The title says it all really. I have already taken the LSAT twice in February and April of 2021 (first at 158 second at 159).I have been accepted at 2 schools and waitlisted at 2 in this cycle. I applied during the priority binding decision deadline at my number 1 school and was waitlisted there. Of the 2 schools who have accepted me 1 gave me a half off tuition scholarship and the other did not give me any scholarship. So my question is, should I retake the LSAT in April or push it back until June? I am worried that April won't be enough time to insure that I raise my score to my desired 165 range. But I am also worried that if I push it off until June I will be too late in the cycle for it to matter if I improve my score. My goal is either: to be removed and admitted from the waitlist at my number 1 school, or to be given a scholarship at the one that did not give me one (its in my hometown so I would not have to move). Any information or thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, is anyone willing to look over the first draft of my personal statement? I just want to make sure I'm heading in the right direction. Willing to do a swap if needed! Thanks!

In the interest of writing my LOCI's I've been visiting schools and contacting admissions offices.

I recently contacted a school that told me I was welcome to do a self-guided tour, OR, to wait a few weeks and then schedule a meeting with an admissions officer. They specifically told me it was a "Wait List informational meeting" and that it was "neither evaluative nor an interview."

What exactly is it then? Does anybody have experience with this type of meeting? Is it worth it to wait until after May 15th to visit this school or does that sound late? Does it sound like they'd take my interest more seriously if I did this then just check in at the office for a self-guided tour? I only have the $ to visit this school once and honestly even that is a stretch, so I'd like to get the most bang for my buck.

Hi two questions regarding my GPA for my applications, all help is greatly appreciated thank you!

First - should I put my GPA on my resume? and if so, should I put the LSAC CAS one or my academic GPA, or both with labels?

My LSAC CAS gpa is 0.03 higher than my academic one from my undergraduate school, so not much of a difference, but for some schools the LSAC one is above median and the academic one is below the median.

Secondly - in the the academic section of some schools application it asks for GPA, so for this, which one should I put or should I put both with labels?

I read a post last year about one student who scored in 150s and successfully transferred to CCN. I did not bookmark the post (s/he said something about the new school that does not have transfer stigma and etc).

In the post, s/he mentioned that s/he did something intensive preparation before law school and talked about a few books and supplements s/he used.

I know people are against intensive preparation before law school. But I am an international student (did BA/MA in the U.S. though) and nervous about law school.

I have a not-very-demanding-tutor job and want to read some books besides GTM or Planet LS.

Anyone who happens to remember the post?

Currently a VA resident, so I will get in state tuition from both schools. I am basically a median applicant for both LSAT and GPA for both. GMU gave me some scholarship $ (not much, ~30% of total tuition), and W&M gave me no scholarship offers.

That being said, I visited both and liked W&M more. GMU is currently ranked 41st, and WM is 37th. Is it worth is to push them for some $ to make the decision easier since they are similarly ranked? The worst thing they can say is no right?

Its basically down to these two schools unless a magical fairy decides to grant me admission to Boston College, which is the only app I am still waiting on. Getting some $ from WM would make the decision easy :|

Hey guys,

Hope there's been good news going around. I got into one of my top choices which is University of San Diego and they offered me a 36k scholarship for the first year, with the option of it being renewable if I keep my GPA above a 2.8. That seems pretty easy but I hear law school is on a different grade scale than undergrad. I'm a first- generation college student so I'm really trying to maximize my funding. Wondering if anyone has any tips or advice/forums/blogs anything on how to get the max financial aid.

Also, has anyone attempted to be flown out to schools on their dime? I'm trying to do that but am feeling uncomfortable approaching it.

Thanks,

Stephanie

EDIT: Room has been taken.

Hey All, I was planning on going to UVA’s Open House but unfortunately my plans have changed. I booked a hotel room that is not refundable at the university hotel (literally walking distance from the school). If anyone is interested in going and wants my room, I will give it to you for $60 (I’ll call the hotel and change the name on the room to yours). PM me with your email address if you are interested.

Hi 7sagers!

I've been placed on the Reserve group for Columbia Law a few days ago. I wrote a LOCI and was wondering if anyone would care to take a look/edit both the substance and format as this is my first time writing one. Please let me know and I'll PM you the letter. Thanks so much! :)

To be considered for merit-based scholarships, admitted students at UW must complete a 500 word max scholarship essay. Here is the prompt: "Please submit an essay that describes how you strive to be a leader in the community and what contributions you plan to make at the University of Washington School of Law. You may also provide information about past meaningful achievements, special attributes, and any personal or family circumstances that contribute to your financial need."

Does anyone have any advice for this essay?

I am pursuing a dual degree at one of the law schools I applied for (JD/MES). The school recently contacted me and said I did not meet their minimum academic requirements because I received a major in Anthropology rather than an Honours Specialization in Anthropology. I have been asked to write a rationale form to apply as a non-standard applicant with the following:

-Why I do not meet the minimum admission requirements

-How my professional/personal and academic experience have prepared me to be successful in the program

I have a pretty direct and logical reason for not receiving an Hons. Spec.: I was 1 credit away from an Honours but the only 4000 level course my school offered in my program was for students intending to pursue a masters degree in Anthropology and I did not want to do that, and decided to pursue electives that would better assist my admittance to a dual JD/MES (i.e. environmental law courses). Similarly, I know what to say re: how my academic experience has prepared me to be successful in the program.

However, I have no idea what to write for 'personal experience.' I don't really understand how personal experiences could make up for the fact that I was 1 credit away from an Honours Specialization and decided against it. The only thing I can think of is that I was the president of a lot of committees and councils in my undergrad while maintaining a 3.7 CPGA, and thus believe I am well prepared for the workload a graduate degree would provide.

Otherwise, I don't really know what else to say and I'm worried the rationale form will come up short.

I spoke to a guy involved at in the MES program not too long ago, and he said admittance to the graduate program might help in getting into the law school itself (i.e. the dual degree is really unique and would look good to the law school as a fringe applicant). I want to make sure the rationale is really good in case that is true -- anything to help my admittance to law. Has anyone had any experience writing a rationale form? What do you think they are they looking for when asking about how "personal experiences" have prepared a student to be successful in a graduate program?

I checked off the LGBTQ+ box in an app for UCI and mentioned that I was gay in my "Why X" essay. A few days after being admitted I received an email from a 1L who is apart of their LGBTQ club, saying welcome and feel free to ask me any qs if you would like to find out about my experience as a queer student at UCI.

I thought that was very sweet of the school to have that student email me. Have other schools done anything similar for you?

Hi all!

Just wondering if anyone has sent letters of continued interests to Canadian schools and if you formatted them the same as for American schools? Or if you found them helpful for admissions!

Thank you!

Also @"David.Busis" if you know anything about this... :)

Question:

How do you tell schools to not look at your file until you appear for the Jan 2020 LSAT i.e. ignore your scores so far ?

Seems like CAS will report every score after it is available but the school might not know you registered for a future LSAT and might give a decision without considering your future LSAT score.

Hey everyone,

Hope everyone's grey day went well! Although I appreciate getting the score before the holidays, that does mean that I have less time to work on some of the school specific optional essays. I'm wondering if anyone would want to team up over these next couple of weeks and work on editing each other's optional essays/keep each other on track? It would probably work best if they were the same schools & I'll be working on essays for most of the T-14 over the next couple weeks.

Let me know if this sounds interesting to you!

Hi all! Is anyone interested in talking through interview questions/doing mock interviews together sometime in the next week or 2? I don't have a super clear idea of how we could structure it. If so, please DM me with some info about you and what you're interested in studying/where you've applied. Thanks! (3(/p)
