After a retake would it be smart to spend extensive time on each sections so let’s say 2 weeks of LG timed sections,2 weeks LR timed sections, 2 weeks RC timed sections ?then wrap up before June ?

Hi all. I took the LSAT Flex yesterday and well, it didn't go great. For various reasons I was not in the best head space and that coupled with test day anxiety really threw me for a loop.
I've been drilling LG for a few months now and have been consistently getting between -1 and -4 on practice tests. On the real deal, my brain went completely blank and I maybe properly set up two of the games. I remember blindly guessing on at least 3 questions (probably more but my brain has kind of blacked out details) and made semi-educated guesses on others. I also had super low time on the last RC passage and had to make some pretty quick educated guesses there as well. LR might be fine but also might not.
This was so far off from my recent PT experiences, which have mostly ranged in the high 160s/low 170s. I'm pretty worried that the LG section alone put me below the 160s range on the actual test.
I took the test last November so I already have that score on file (160) and feel like it would look pretty terrible to have an even lower score on record almost a year later... At the same time, maybe I miraculously guessed well and/or somehow didn't do as terribly as I think. So, the question is: Is it a good idea to cancel my score to be safe..? More specifically, is it better to have a cancelled score on record (and forever be haunted by not knowing how I did) than to have two scores well below my goals on file a year apart?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
So I've nailed logic games, I've implemented a new strategy for LR where I pay more attention to structure and ive been doing better so far, but my RC is totally screwed up. A) a lot of the time I don't get to every question, and B) most of my mistakes are from Inference and Authors Perspective questions.
I make the right answer choices during BR but I just can't seem to time myself correctly.
Should I spend more time on timed RC which would lead to less time on LR and LG review? I don't plan on doing BR for RC , I feel like LR skills translate into skills needed for RC questions. But my timing is way off. I took PT 63 and got a 167 but I missed like 5-8 questions in total, and rushed RC making stupid mistakes just to get to the next question. I feel like I can't retain enough info to be able to make inferences ...I go back and skim portions of the passage to affirm my inferences. Should I rely more on skimming and going back during questions or nailing it after the first pass?
I wonder if I could register us lsat flex test while taking it in other country
I'm taking the LSAT Flex at the end of this month. My laptop's built-in mic hasn't been working for the past week and I learned, today, that replacing it would mean replacing the entire laptop. I have a desktop microphone I can use but I'm unsure of whether LSAC allows this while taking the Flex and I can't seem to find an answer online or get anyone from LSAC on the phone.
Anyone have experience with this?
Anyone planning on taking the October LSAT? How far are you along in the course and how much time do you dedicate per day. Just wondering how everyone else is doing!
Hey guys,
just a quick poll, are we supposed to do the "drilling materials" section as a whole PT or as the title indicates just use them for specific types of problems. I'm a bit confused cause the curriculum lists them as whole tests and puts them before the modern tests. Just wondering if I should skip them in favour of the more modern tests. Opinions welcome and thanks.
Looking for around 3 people to join the group. Any more tends to result in a clusterf...
Will be on discord.
This is for people taking October , only.
7sagers that have done the CC preferred.
The point of this group is to go over LR sections, aprox. 3 times a week. During the morning, and afternoons depending on schedule.
Full time LSAT study members preferred with open schedules.
Avg PT score of 160+ preferred.
Repeat flex testers preferred.
Headset with MIC required for discord to go over LR sections. (Webcam not required.)
Anything above PT 65 would be ideal, so this is mainly for people looking to do the mid 60s , 70s, 80s.
Send me a DM if you are interested. I know this seems strict, but just trying to get the right people.
Hello 7Sagers,
I have been doing untimed sections from the 40's and 50's and have been still missing questions. I'm pretty solid on understanding the stimulus but the AC's always seem to trip me up. If anybody would like to go through these LR sections with me and we can go over the questions to really understand what the stimulus is saying and work through the AC's showing how the right one is right and the wrong one is wrong I would love to have a Zoom/Video chat session to go over them. I'm available on Fridays and Saturdays all day. If interested just comment below or PM me!
Hi all! Just a quick question here. I know your face must be visible for the entire LSAT-Flex. Does your tabletop need to be visible as well, or only shown during room scan? My webcam has a clear view of my face, but not of my hands or desktop while I write on scratch paper. I wasn't able to find anything about this, but just wanted to check.
I currently use an external monitor as the only view of my screen - my laptop remains closed while I am using it and cannot be used as a split-screen. This passed the ProctorU software sweep. Just wanted to make sure - is this okay?
Thanks everyone! Good luck October takers :)
Hey everyone!
For the last month I've been stuck in the low-mid 160s. My BR scores are consistently low 170s-mid 170s. I take 3 timed PTs a week and then on the in between days I drill the areas that I am struggling with (mostly LG and recently RC). I am taking the October LSAT and am starting to get nervous about if I will ever close this gap between BR and my timed PTs. How long and in what way were you able to close this gap? Thank you so much!
Hi guys I'm in dire need of advice. I scheduled for the August flex thinking I'd have enough time to study and get the score I want, however, that's not the case at all. I'm 2 weeks away from the test. I tried to reschedule some time ago, but the deadline already passed. Has anyone ever tried rescheduling last minute with the LSAC before? and if it worked for you at all?
Is anyone else struggling with trying to get peace and quiet at home? I had to quit a prep test in the CC today because no matter how hard I try, I can get total quiet at my house. I'm very worried about taking the lsat flex in these conditions but everything is shut down.
Is it really difficult to get a job at a big firm as an international student from t16?
I got 168 last time and I might still try applying but I am really concerned about the chances of me getting a right position after law school, since it is not just dime and nickels that costs.
I''m not from undergrad in the states nor does I have citizenship.
If anyone has any knowledge about this kinda issues, I'd really appreciate it if you share your opinions.
Hey,
Planning on taking the October flex. I am PTing around 146-150 with goals of hitting around a 160 by October. If anybody would like to be my study buddy or even be a part of a study group. Please let me know!
I feel like I have no one supporting me, no one competing with me, understanding my struggles, and sacrificing with me. I want this group me to be positive af, informative, and helpful. I take my LSAT in January and just did my 2nd PT and hit 160. I want 170 by January! Here is the link to join https://groupme.com/join_group/61773609/7zGuYuR3
If you take a practice test and later delete it, how does that show up in the Problem Sets section where it says "Taken 1 time" etc., If you have taken the section, but deleted it, will it show up as "Taken 1 time" or as blank?
Long time user of 7Sage here. I've studied for the LSAT for a while now and I scored a 170 on test day and I'm planning to retaking for a high 170s score. My PTs have ranged from 169-178, but I am still quite inconsistent within this range.
I've been considering going through the Core Curriculum. I've watched a few videos before but have never actually sat down to go through the whole thing. I'm now considering going through the CC because I have decided to apply not this upcoming cycle, but the following one, and so I do have more time to study. I'd like to improve in all 3 sections but my current weaknesses are:
Formal Logic (not including conditional logic, but just operating the Most/Some statements and those questions).
Weird games (pattern games, mapping games, circular games in PowerScore language. Think Employee Workpiece game or Virus game).
Rule substitution questions.
Science passages in RC.
Curve-breaker RC/LR questions.
Consistency in all 3 sections (to go from -2 to -3 to -0 to -1 consistency.
I'd say that I'm strong at LG (able to go -0 to -3) but I'm also seeking more consistency. Would you say that the LG portion of the Core Curriculum is worth going through if one has already done all the games there and even watched most the explanation videos for those particular games? Is there anything different between the explanations for LG within the CC vs. the explanation videos for the games taught in the CC (found under Problem Sets > Explanation Videos)? I've heard rave reviews about the LG portion of the CC specifically from quite a few people, so I'm wondering if it's worth going through or whether it's more for someone who's still making a ton of mistakes?
I don't think it's really necessary for me to go through the CC, but I do think that it might help solidify my knowledge and cover any remaining weaknesses I have.
How long did it take you to go through the entire CC (not counting doing the actual PTs included in there)?
I was thinking that I would skip some of the LR/RC Problem Sets because I've developed my own system of allocation for the PTs and I don't have that many fresh PTs left, so I want to be careful not to use up any fresh PTs/sections. How long would just watching the video lessons take (not including the problem sets)?
I would also love any advice about how you went about going through the CC/what to skip/what's important. Did you take a lot of notes? Did any of you high scorers (170+) do something similar where, for a retake, you went back to the fundamentals? Did it pay off to do so?
Hi everyone,
I am trying to register for the LSAT but it is requiring me to provide a fax number. But I dont have a fax... Has anyone run into this problem? How were you able to register?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I need someone to study with. I am okay with in person or zoom/FaceTime meetings. This journey is something else, and I find it easier when I have someone to study with to be able to discuss this monster with. Any takers?
Hi all,
I've decided to delay my exam to the October 3, 2020 test date in hopes of improving my timing and score -- currently PT-ing in high 140s/low 150s and BR-ing in high 150s, goal score is 165. What are some timing tips to close the real PT/BR gap for LR and RC? I've been BR-ing and drilling on non-PT days, and have seen improvement in my BR, 3-4 point BR gain, in the last couple of weeks but can't seem to improve my actual timed exam score (stuck in low 150s!!).
Second, how have you been studying with 1-2 months left? Drilling your weak areas? How many PT's do you take each week? I've found that taking 2 exams per week (in addition to drilling) is adequate to get a full BR + review of each exam without feeling burnt out but I'm not sure if I'm doing too much/little. If you take more PTs, are you splitting up sections and taking those separately instead of full PTs?
I thought it'd be important to note I'm fortunate enough to have been able to take this summer off in order to study for this exam full-time, but since I'm delaying the test until October I'll be getting a part-time job soon. I'd appreciate any advice or tips you have!
Hi All,
I was thinking of taking the November exam, but I am early into my prep. Going through the fundamentals at the moment. I ideally want to study until December so I can get the highest score possible - optimistic about the study process. However, taking January will push out my apps so they are late in the admissions process. Wanted to see if anyone had some advice in terms of the timeline, and if its worth the risk taking the latter so I can score to my potential. My goal is to hit a 170 and my initial diagnostic was a 150 (with half the exam left blank because of time constraints).
As always, I am open to any studying advice or any other knowledge someone may want to shed! Thanks for reading!
Hi guys, so I am currently registered for the October flex. I took the August flex, but I am worried that I will get my scores late since I had a bunch of issues with the writing sample. Unfortunately, I had very unreliable internet for the past week or so with the CA heatwave and now the wildfires.... I tried to take it yesterday, but the exam kicked me out within 15 min. of starting it so I retreived a new link from LSAC today (9/10). BUT they failed to tell me that it will not reset for another day so I essentially have to wait til 9/11 to take it. Scores come out on 9/18 and I just doubt that LSAC will process it in time before the exam. I hope they do, but I am just bracing myself for the possibility of delayed scores (internally screaming). That said, I was hoping to make a decision on whether to take the October flex or not based on how I did on the August flex. However, as we all know, the October flex is less than a month away and I have not been able to really get back into studying full time due to all these issues I've been having. Do you guys think it's wiser for me to switch to November or should I wait and see if I get my August score in time? Is it considered late to take the LSAT in November? I have heard a bunch of mixed opinions on that so any insight would be helpful. Thank you!
Hi, I have both an internal webcam and an external webcam, but I was wondering if it is permissible to use the internal webcam on a laptop. I know I have to do a quick survey of the room with the webcam, which is possible by simply moving the laptop around, but if I had to provide a view of my keyboard, I would not be able to do so with the internal webcam.
During flex, are we ever required to get a view of the keyboard (perhaps dependent on the proctor), or would a internal webcam be sufficient for all my rooming surveying needs?
I have been studying since June. I am currently finishishing up sequencing games and I am scheduled for the November LSAT. Do you think approximately two months of prep-tests will be enough if I finish core curriculum by mid-September?
I am realistically trying to get above a 170 but so is everyone else.
