In August 2024, LSAC will remove the Logic Games section, replacing it with a second scored Logical Reasoning section. We’re having a free webinar Wednesday, October 25 from 8–9 pm where 7Sage Partner Scott Milam and Director of Tutoring Aastha Sinha will discuss what this change means for the future of the test and your own studying!

I took the LSAT in October. I can get out of my mind anxious when I'm testing, to the point that I can't comprehend what I've even reading. I call it "seeing white". Anyway, I have stop/start breaks and I can't tell you how much it helped. I was able to stop the clock and swivel my chair around at any point during the test and just breathe. It wasn't even for a whole minute every time. I would just close my eyes, breath, and ground myself. I have a list of affirmations I've written I read to myself leading up to testing. During the test I'd say the ones to myself I remembered and it was super helpful. Anxiety freaking sucks and I know i'm not the only one who struggles so wanted to pass this along. Say what you will about my cheesy affirmations, everyone JY interviews who scores high talks about how important mental health is during this process. 🤓

Hello 7Sage community,

I hope this message finds you well on your LSAT journey :)

I wanted to take a moment to share my own experience, as it may resonate with some of you who are navigating significant life changes alongside LSAT preparation.

I embarked on this LSAT journey with dedication, allocating countless hours to studying for the test. I've benefited immensely from the tools and support offered by 7Sage, and I want to express my gratitude for that. The skills I've honed during this process are invaluable and will serve me well in life.

However, life doesn't always follow a straight path. Major career shifts, housing challenges, and relationship changes have shifted my focus and priorities. I decided to put the LSAT on hold to navigate these transitions effectively.

I'm sharing this not to discourage anyone but to contribute my own story and data point to the wide array of LSAT preparation experiences out there. The LSAT journey can take a holistic toll – financially, emotionally, and professionally. I wish I had come across posts like this earlier to help me evaluate my preparation choices within the context of my life circumstances.

I'm not closing the door on the LSAT. It's a journey I may return to when it aligns with my life circumstances. For now, I'm focusing on adapting to the changes life has presented.

I wish each and every one of you a happy and successful learning journey. Cherish the skills you're developing; they'll serve you well beyond the LSAT.

Hey guys,

i need some advice, im kinda in a pickle and over thinking so posting my thoughts here. Im currently 24 - working full time as legal assistant started studying for the LSAT this summer and im scheduled to take the Nov 2023 exam. this will be my first exam. I'm feeling okay about everything but nervous that i'll do bad and have to retake in Jan. I wanted to apply for 2024 cycle but im scared that If i do need to retake in Jan that it will either be me rushing to submit apps in for the 2024 cycle OR i'll still need to improve my LSAT score. I'm currently PTing 1 x week in lower 149-151 range rn & have a 3.7 gpa (calculated on LSAC). a) Should i still have my apps in before Jan, even if i retake in Jan OR; b) should i hold off apps and sumbit super early next fall for the 2025 cycle, once i feel more confident getting a better LSAT score? If i do wait I would still want to take the LSAT before the august change.

Same LSAT Score

Hi everyone!

I am needing a little motivation and help. I keep taking timed exams but my scores are not increasing. I am taking my exam in January and I know I still have time to improve but it has just been really discouraging. Any tips on what I should do? Thanks!

I have recently started taking prep tests to gear up for the November exam and I am wondering what method people have used to ensure that they have a good feel for the old/recent tests. Is it advised to skip around, start from old to new, or from new to old? Also, is taking 3/4 sections worth it? Or do you guys feel as if it has helped taking all 4 even though one of them is unscored?

Thanks!

Anger at score plateau

Hi everyone, I am feeling so incredibly infuriated with my current score plateau and I can't seem to be improving. I have read that score plateaus are very common but how does one break through? Ive tried powering through, taking breaks for a few days but the score will not change no matter what I do. My BR scores are decent but I just find myself getting so frustrated and actually angry at this point.

Anya advice would be greatly appreciated.

LR/RC Help

Hi all (:

I'm now finally scoring above my goal score on BR and have gotten to the point where I think I can consistently score in the range I'd want as my real test score- but ONLY on blind review. I'm still a few points under on my timed PTs. This shows me that I'm capable of scoring what I want but I feel like my main issue is speed, as I usually run out of time for the last few questions on LR ~1-3 (0 if I'm lucky lol) and RC I usually end up skimming the last passage and don't have enough time for notes. ): I'd appreciate any tips anyone might have on just getting faster? Like any drills/methods you use?

Hi everyone, I know this has been mentioned before and I even commented on a post about this but is it normal to score better on one of the 2 LR sections every time on PTs? I consistently get around -5 for the first section and -8 on the second. Is the second section generally harder or is it perhaps fatigue?

Also am I right in assuming that the experimental section on the real test isn't guaranteed to be LR? At this point I am kind of hoping two LG section come up as they are actually kind of fun. Still making small stupid mistakes on them but hoping I get more accurate with more practice.

I just decided to do this today and take an untimed practice test. I really am thrilled with my score because it means I can score higher than I thought I could. It doesn't mean I will magically get that score on test day, but it does mean I understand more of the material than I thought I did. It makes me feel a lot more confident & proud in the work I have just put in for these past few months. Yes the time pressure will always be there, but I now know I have a lot more of the concepts down than I even thought.

This is more to boost your confidence in your studies. I have been threw a rut believing that it was impossible for me to score higher than I was on timed PT, but this changes that narrative. I can do it, now it's time to get faster. How can I speed up my process and maintain that accuracy, is the next step in the process. No more learning new things, you're just improving and refining what you already know. :) hope this helps!

Hello,

I am needing advise from the group. Any input is greatly appreciated, especially those of you who had been in my shoes.

I plan to take the June 2024 LSAT, and apply for law school that fall for 2025 entry. I don’t have a lot of time to study because I am working full time, have a brand new baby, and my wife is super busy with her work (she’s a hospital resident). I can probably devote at most 2 hours a day to study, and many days I don’t’ have that time. That’s really not enough time in my opinion to study especially that I am very new to the test, but I am 30 with more and more obligations at home, I feel like if I want to give law school a shot, it’s gotta be now and not later. (I am not trying to say older people shouldn’t go, I just think for me, it’s time).

We know for sure we will be moving back to the St. Louis area after my wife finishes her residency in June of 2025, so school-wise, I really only have three choices, WUSTL, SLU, and Mizzou (I’d have to live as west of STL as possible and have long commute). I have a less than ideal UGPA (3.16), which means WUSTL is going to be far reach even if I get a 170+. So I am pretty much setting a realistic goal of SLU or Mizzou. I think getting into those two schools should be possible if I can get a LSAT of 155-160. My last three practice tests are 146, 153, and 145.

I have been going through the lessons one by one. But I couldn’t help but feel like, in my situation, perhaps I should instead just stick to doing two practice tests a week, and make sure I diligently complete the blind review, and watch explanation videos on all low/high risk questions. As much as I find the lessons helpful, and it’s a long way till June, with limited time I can devote to studying each day , I feel like the lessons may not be for me.

What do you think? Again, I would really appreciate any feedback at all!

Across all three sections, I find that the biggest cause of incorrect answers ends up being that I end up stuck between two options, and choose the wrong one. Or, I believe it is one answer, and then overthink it, and choose the wrong one. I start each section with the mantra that ONLY one answer is correct and all others are unquestionably wrong, but I still have a hard time feeling confident in my answers. Sometimes my initial answer is right and I talk myself out of it, but often times I catch wrong answers and correct them before the time is up. Does anyone have any advice for how I can break this cycle? My current strategy has been to spend a healthy amount of time doing BR & focusing on WHY the incorrect answer is the wrong one, and why the right one is truly right. Still, I worry I won't be able to correct this by June. I'm hoping to break 170 on the exam. Any advice is appreciated!

Hey! So I just took the LSAT Writing through ProctorU and didn't understand when exactly to complete the initial room scan. I ended up submitting the scan checklist, realizing there was no option to "start scan now", and completed a room scan before actually initiating the exam. I also got disconnected from Wifi a few minutes in, where I successfully reconnected and completed the room scan correctly the second time, but will this cause problems for my sample getting approved?

Hi!

I am having some trouble at the start of PT to get my head into the test.

Is there any tactics you guys use to get you started? I do warm up with 15q of LR and 2 games.

I feel like its my anxiety mostly that kinda eats me up at the beginning of the test.

Hi everyone, im asking for your thoughts and opinions. I graduate with my BA in philosophy in december. Im taking the october and november lsat. I plan on starting law school in august. I really want a job as a legal assistant from january-august. Would a big law firm want a temporary hire? Ive had friends tell me i shouldnt disclose going to law school at all… but that feels icky… like starting a romantic relationship with someone knowing youre moving countries in 8 months.. haha.

Hi,

When I received an email from LSAC that Sanoma will not be compatible, I emailed them right away asking if Big Sur will be supported. I just got a reply that they only know that Sanoma will not be compatible.

As always, LSAC really doesn't help. My August exam had been a huge nightmare, so I'm already very nervous that things may not turn out well at some point in the test procedure.

Does anyone know if Big Sur is compatible with Prometric system? Is there any way I can confirm that?

Prep Tests 80s

Hi everyone, I am taking the LSAT in November and have decided to skip PT 60's and 70's in favor of doing more recent tests. Am I going crazy or are the PT80s considerably harder than the others? Even in BR, I initially was getting in the low 170's but now I seem to be BRing in the low to mid 160s! It has definitely made me nervous and I feel a little burned out so perhaps I'll take a few days off after review.

Just wanted to get everyones opinions and any advice would be great!

Also I have been working on my timing and not getting freaked out during the test, especially when coming across very difficult questions, misc LGs or challenging RC passages like the ones in PT85.

QUICK HELP

So sorry for the promptness - I guess it doesn't matter too much, but today is my last pt before october exam. should i take pt 89 or 83 as my last one?

And my tutor told me to not look at the score - as this can cause overestimation / overconfidence or anxiety / nerves depending on how I do ? my average right now is a 165.8-166. What do you guys think?
