Application review / waiting for Feb score

Hi everyone,

Just curious if anyone has any advice on this issue. I have a number of schools that are holding off on reviewing my application until my February LSAT score comes back. My concern is that there may not be as many seats available by then. I talked to one school which is my 2nd choice and they said if they review your application before the Feb LSAT score is released, they will not re-review it after the new score comes back even if it is a better score.

I have only heard back from one school so far which is my last choice, I don't think they are even rated and they have offered me a full scholarship. However I am above their 75th percentile for LSAT but below their median for LSAC GPA.

For UNC, my 2nd choice I am at the 25th percentile for LSAT and below the 25th percentile for LSAC GPA. I am a non-traditional student with very strong softs, long professional working career, strong essays, statements etc. Obviously getting a higher LSAT would give me a better chance of scholarships, however I'm concerned there may not be as many seats available.

Should I ask them to go ahead and review my application or hold off until the Feb scores come back?

Thank you

Just a little update. While I under-performed on my June LSAT, I did increase my score by 4 points which turned out to be enough. I was offered a scholarship at my 1st choice school that will cover a little over 65% of my tuition. Thanks again 7Sage!

BR technique that helped speed up my BR process

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share something that has helped speed up my BR process in hopes that it might help others. Some of you may have already been using this technique but I haven't heard anyone mention it so I thought I would share it just in case.

Now during BR I immediately after completing a question review the video for it on 7Sage rather than waiting to complete the whole BR process. This helps me to better solidify my understanding of the problem right away rather than it seeming more abstract after a longer period of time. Additionally by pausing the video before the JY goes through the answers I'm saving a lot of time.

This may not help others but I thought I would share it since it did help me with time and retention of information.

I don't think they would change the release date @ but would probably just push the actual release out to closer to the published release date when there is a scenario like this time where there were some retakes almost two weeks after the scheduled exam.

I'm thinking that we may not get them very early primarily do to them having to give those who were interrupted during the exam due to the tropical the retake. Didn't they do the retake around the 18th?

Larry Law Law & other law school prep courses

Just curious if anyone has taken or heard reviews of any of the law school prep courses out there? If it is worth it & if those that have taken them found it to be helpful during 1L?

Also are any others considering taking one before starting school in August?

@, the LSAT documents status icons on the LSAC website are green until the day they update your score information & they turn grey until they have finally uploaded all of the PDFs.

Multi state bar exams

Does anyone know which states offer the multi state bar exam?

I've also heard that some states offer reciprocity but I'm not sure which ones & if you have to be practicing law for a while or not to do that.

Thank you in advance for any information.

Hi everyone,

I'm on about 6 waitlists now & one hold & I'm curious if anyone has had any luck getting scholarships if admitted off waitlists?

My current LSAT score is 160 w/ adjusted LSAC GPA of 3.15, degree GPA of 3.43 w/upward trending. Strong softs including long career in corporate finance, Letters of recommendation & personal statements & addendum. I'm a non-traditional student.

I'm planning on visiting some of my top picks I'm waitlisted at over the next few weeks.

I'm also preparing to retake the LSAT in June to try to raise my score.

Thank you in advance for any tips or advice.

@ you didn't mention which PTs they were, I remember going from the 50's or 60's to the 70's initially would produce some inconsistent scores for me, but again w/only 10 you are still pretty rely on in the process.

Favorite breakfast for Exam day

I thought it might be helpful for some to hear what types of breakfast foods & drinks people have found to be great choices for test day & maybe what types of snacks they brought for the break during the exam.

I think I had scrambled eggs, avocado toast & coffee when I took the exam before & half of a chicken sandwich, Apple, blueberries & vitamin water for the break. Not sure what I will do this time but probably something similar.

Visiting schools tips & recomendations

Hi everyone,

Since many of us are in the process of receiving acceptances or being put on the waitlists of the schools we've applied to, I thought it would be helpful if we had a topic that covered tips and recommendations for law school visits.

Has anyone visited schools yet that would be willing to share their experience?

How would you suggest that I'm applicant dress for the visit?

Are there any particular questions you would suggest that the applicant ask the admissions office?

Did you attend any classes and how was that?

Has anyone been put on hold by a law school after they finish their initial review? If so can you please share what your experience has been like & if you did anything to improve the chances of changing the hold to an accept? Thank you in advance.

I don't know of anyone who has been disappointed in their decision to go with 7Sage. While I frequently hear regrets from those that tried other more expensive courses. Besides the course itself, you have people like Nicole, Pacifico, Corey, Allison & JY offering unparalleled guidance & webinars. All of that combined with the supportive community I feel gives most people a great foundation & value for the money.

I wish I had followed some of the tips on taking notes but I was so excited to dig right in, that most of my retention is just down to practicing what I learned. Over & over & over again until it was almost automatic & not something I had to think about & process any more. However the process would have probably been faster if I had used some of the suggestions the others posted.

Pattern of missing LR questions

Hey everyone,

I've noticed a strange pattern of the answers I tend to miss on LR and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and if you have found a solution to fixing the problem.

I have noticed that I am not necessarily missing a particular question type but am instead missing clusters of questions together. It usually happens around question 11 or 12 & I will miss 2-3 questions in a row, then it will happen again somewhere around 17-20 where I will miss 2-3 sometimes even 4.

I'm not sure if I'm stumbling because I run into a difficult question & then loose confidence on the next few questions, or if it could be mental fatigue or something else I just can't put my finger on.

The same thing sometimes happens with RC on just one passage where I miss a few in a row, but that I could understand better because it could just be a matter of not fully understanding a certain passage. The questions in LR are autonomous though which has me a little more confused, since I can go 10 questions in without any errors, and then miss 3, then another 5 without errors & then miss another 3 or so.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sheri

Thank you 7Sage

Hey guys,

Just a little update, most of you who know me understand why a local school was not only my target school but my first choice. I'm thankful today to be able to report that I am officially off the waitlist and will be attending UNC Law School in August. I am so excited that we do not have to move. I don't know how I could have functioned in law school not being in the same city as my college age son, let alone not in the same state.

Thank you 7Sage JY, Nicole, Allison, Cory, David Busis and everyone else. This really is a wonderfully supportive community & I'm so glad I have been part of it this past year.

Now I can keep an eye out for my June LSAT with a little less angst. :)

Public Interest Law loan forgiveness

I was just curious if anyone knows much about the loan forgiveness for those who opt to practice public interest law. Is it a program sponsored by the individual schools, the employers (gvmt, non-profit etc)? Do you know if there are a lot of restrictions involved? Is anyone planning on utilizing this option?

Breakfast of Champions

Hi everyone, with the December LSAT swiftly approaching I thought it would be good to start a discussion on your personal choice for game day breakfast. I've noticed if I have a breakfast primarily of carbs for example that I feel sluggish and less focused. I seem to perform better on my PTs when I have something more substantial like an egg, or bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. Pacifico has won me over with the bulletproof coffee as well, not sure if I perform better or not but it certainly does seem to help me feel better and more focused. What are your favorite breakfast foods before a PT, or the actual LSAT?

Driving records

Hi everyone, I have just began the process of filling out my online applications on the LSAC website. Does anyone know if there is a way for us to obtain a copy of our driving records? I have had a few speeding tickets over the years but I don't think any of them are over 10 mph but I would like to verify prior to filling out the character & fitness portion of the applications. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

2nd visit to a school you are waitlisted on.

Just curious what the thoughts are on re-visiting a school you are waitlisted on? It is my 1st choice and I first visited right after I initially applied and my application had been put on hold. I have since been put on the waitlist. I am scheduled to retake the LSAT for the last time tomorrow morning. I sent a LOCI at the end of April, & called them mid May to let them know that I would be retaking the exam in June. If I test tomorrow anywhere near my recent PTs I should be 3-4 points over their 75th percentile. My adjusted LSAC GPA is below the 25th percentile, but degree GPA is above the 25th percentile. Myt current LSAT from December is at their 25th percentile.

Oh yeah & their final seat deposit for admitted students is due today. I would either go today (about a 30 minute drive) or sometime next week after my shoulder surgery.

Merit based scholarship offers after LSAT

Hi everyone,

Just curious is it the norm to get emails from law school admissions offices saying you qualify for a full scholarship after taking the LSAT? The ones that I have gotten so far have not been my target schools, but was just wondering if they are legit or not.

Preparing between Exams

I'm just curious what type of prep work those of you who took the exam in October did between the October and December exams to improve your score before the retake or to better prepare in general? I'm hoping it won't come down to this, but just in case I would like to have a game plan in place to be able to make any necessary changes to my study techniques in case it is necessary to retake in February.

I know there are some of you who have also been studying for over or close to a year, for those of you who were able to make substantial improvements, what techniques did you use to get to your goal score before your retake other than the obvious (taking many PTs, and BRing)?

Also are there any other websites or forums (youtube videos) etc... you have used during your prep for the LSAT that you have found to be helpful?

Thanks in advance for any feedback or suggestions.

Hi everyone, One of the schools I am applying to has a scholarship deadline for today, but I've been waiting to receive my LSAT score back to submit my application. Since the scores should be out sometime between tonight - Jan 5th can I or should I go ahead and submit the application without an LSAT score yet?
