LR Tutoring with Sage Josh

So what will be going down in these meetings and what do you need to do to prepare?

These classes are a live, Sage guided forum to help address whatever it is you're studying within LR. We'll use older tests to work through questions, discuss question types, break down argument structures, and analyze answer choices. We'll also talk general LR strategy and pacing. To prepare, just use whatever portion of the week's homework that is relevant to your current studies.

This week's homework: PT 35 Logical Reasoning

Hey looking for a study buddy or to make a study group once a week/every other week or on the weekends.

I am studying full time 6-7 hours a day including weekends.

I study at Loyola Marymount University, USC, and Santa Monica College.

I think it would be good to talk about LR or RC questions/ passages through BR Review with someone.

If you are determined as I am and interested let me know.

Note:

  • For everyone: take the PT under timed conditions; BR as you are able on your own; then join us for all or part of the call—everyone is welcome.
  • Note: For the purposes of the call, we like to check our group blind review score together at the very end of the call :) So at least don't say ... "No guys, really, it's D, I checked it.” KEEP THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOURSELF. Win the argument with your reasoning.
  • These groups work best when folks from ALL stages of prep and with all different goals join in! Not just for "super-preppers" and definitely not just for the casual LSATer (does such a person exist?).
  • The only expectation anyone has for these calls is for you to have fun and ask questions as you desire. We are just a bunch of LSAT lovers who gather via GoToMeeting and intellectually slaughter each test.

Hey 7Sagers, I'm leading BR calls for PT 80 (December 2016 LSAT).

I'm holding 9 sessions total. 3 for each of LR 1, LR 2, and RC. Each session will focus on only one section of PT 80. All sessions will start at 7p EST and end at 10p. Multiple sessions are meant to accomodate people's various schedules and to reduce class size per session.

    What happens in these sessions?

I'll ask students to state which questions were circled for BR. We'll work through the questions the group nominates. I generally try to ask students questions to elicit the right response. Please wear headphones and try to be in a quiet place.

    How should I prepare?

Take PT 80 and have the questions you'd like to BR ready. The first thing I'll ask everyone is which questions they'd like to BR.

Taking a PT on Monday under "true" test conditions has not given me enough time for a thorough BR before the Wed night BR calls - hence the move to Thursday:) If this change impacts you to not be able to join, pls let me know.

For June takers, we should be able to cover the LR questions and possibly discuss specific RC/LG on the calls. If we are tight as a group preparing for June, then we should be able to make it work to cover all aspects of the PT whether within the calls or working together to meet on other forums to ensure understanding:)

Here is my plan & hope you will join getting Test Day ready...

  • Monday: Take a PT under the most realistic simulation of test day
  • Tues-Wed: BR the heck out of it and join Thurs &/or Sat BR calls
  • Evaluate analytics & focus on weaknesses for LR
  • Continue RC Intensive
  • Continue to foolproof LG stack of nightmare games, lol
  • Look forward to what we can do in the next two months (3(/p)

Edited - Any feedback on "getting Test Day" ready welcome :)

Hi all, does anybody know of any test prep companies/other places in the Philadelphia that offer free in-person proctored PTs or allow you to bring your own to be proctored (without having to sign up for a full course)? Also, any other Philadelphia LSAT resources or a Philadelphia-area study group?

    Thanks!

Hi Everyone, this is my second go around for taking the LSAT and I find myself taking a different approach this time around and would like to form a study group to support and help each other out through this journey. Perhaps motivate, inspire or to share tips and tricks that has worked for everyone to be successful in scoring will on the the upcoming LSAT. Please let me know and I will gladly get a Google Hangouts group started! I am located in Minnesota and would love to go through this journey with others who would like to bounce ideas, share what works or ask for help and get the support we all need to stay on track!

Because who doesn't love another study group post that only applies to (1% of 7sagers? (Yes, I tried the study buddy tool...which I humbly and respectfully advise be rid of inactive members).(/p)

I am essentially a noob looking for a faithful study buddy to go through CC with, to motivate each other, and teach each other LSAT stuffs. I'm shooting for a 170+ September or June if I'm crazy. I'm down for Skype too, but I don't know of any quality split screen sharing apps or websites. Let me know if you're down. I score around a 150 right now, and am cool if you're score is significantly higher or lower. I can learn much from teaching and listening.

    0

Anyone interested in doing daily RC practice in a group setting (skype/online)? I am looking to work together with someone who is good on RC so I can learn and hopefully improve on it. I am a first time test taker, aiming for June 2017 test date. I have been studying for a while and really struggling with RC (timing, remembering details and tackling questions is something I am struggling with). I am doing well on LR and would be willing to do some sessions for LR too.

Feel like this after an LG game or RC passage???

    https://media.giphy.com/media/lfdQ6KwpfZUC4/giphy.gif

Join us Wednesday night - the BR call will focus on RC & LG. The Saturday Study Group session will cover LR PT65. So many people asked Vanessa and me for this type of BR call so here it is!! Participation & Feedback will determine if we continue to offer this type of BR call:)

We will review individual RC passages and have the white board app to work through specific LG games. We will start with PT65 and can include PT63 & 62 if requested. Please post your RC passage/LG game requests to help prioritize what we cover on the call since they can be a time consuming process.

With the RC intensive next week provided by our Sages, Vanessa & I want to provide an opportunity to talk about specific passages and isolate weaknesses for us all to gain the most from the upcoming RC webinars!

Mark your Calendar - RC Intensive Schedule:

Sun 3/5 Webinar: Tackling Questions with Limited Passage Understanding with David (Accounts Playable)

Tues 3/7 Live Commentary: Commentary and Pacing Strategy with Josh (Can't Get Right)

Thurs 3/9 Webinar: Breaking Through Difficult Passages with Daniel (danielznelson)

The BR session will start on GoToMeeting but it has had so many glitches lately, please be prepared to switch to Discord if necessary:)

I am looking for a local study buddy. I can also meet on Skype, but I'd like an in person buddy too. Ideally looking for an equally motivated retaker who is also aiming for June. I am on a few WL and holds right now, so I need to hit it out of the park in June so I can go T-14. I have room privileges at Downtown ASU, so that could be a great meeting place. I am in the West Valley but willing to travel DT.

I am currently using 7SAGE as my primary self-study trainer for the LSAT, I am also supplementing 7SAGE with PowerScore's LG, LR, and RC Bibles. Basically, anytime I finish a 7SAGE section, I will then go back and read/complete the section in the PowerScore Bibles. I have found this to be very helpful except for the Conditional Logic section where I understand 7SAGE's program and mechanistic approach far easier than PowerScores. Does anyone think this supplemental study technique is a bad idea in case I mix up learning techniques, has anyone else attempted to use a similar method?
