I'd like some help with this MC question. I correctly labeled the main conclusion and narrowed it down to answer choices (B) and (C). However, I couldn't for the life of me distinguish the distinction between the two answer choices. An explanation is provided via JY in the 7sage ultimate package-- albeit, I am still not 100% confident on the correct answer choice.

Thanks!

"Cannot"... "Unless"

Hey all, on PT 24, game 4, the rule reads "V cannot be prescribed unless both H and M are prescribed."

J.Y translates this to:

V -> M

V->H.

I am having trouble translating this. I know with these you take an idea, negate it, then apply the translation rule.

I keep coming up with

H & M -> V.

Hope I can get some help!

Hello, I am studying logic games not for taking the exam but for a programming course and so don't need the full course, but would like to view the sequencing games lessons and how to read the diagrams. Are there any free youtube tutorials on this that you recommend? Thanks!

What are y'all's strategies for attacking them? I finally got the basics down, and if I've seen an exact (or near exact version of the game) before, I can usually kill it with time to spare.

But it's those weird games. Those games which mix it up in a way that I've never seen before. You know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about games which match sequencing with an in and out game. I'm talking about games in which you have to draw a freakin' star to finally figure out how to do the freakin' puzzle (I'm lookin' at you, Preptest 38, Game 4!) I'm talking about unconventional charting games which don't look all that similar to any of the games I've done before (Preptest 39).

So what are you strategies? Appreciate any feedback.....

I know you can't expect to see a huge increase in your LR score a day after you finish the 7sage course. But any success stories to keep me motivated would be great. I feel like I am really learning with 7sage but people on these forums still recommend buying either a manhattan LR book or the lsat trainer to supplement. I thought 7sage would give you everything you need as long as you drill, drill, drill and blind review is key right? I read through the powerscore bibles and by far I feel like 7sage is so much better.

Any insight would help!

Feeling Discouraged

I have been studying for a few months now, since the beginning of May, and I have a solid score of 152 almost every time I take a prep test.

My LG is usually anywhere between 17-20 correct, so I think my LG is fine, but I struggle on the last two sections.

Most specifically, I think I'm struggling in second-guessing myself. I go back and review my answers, and most are from me deciding between two.... but always picking the wrong one. Does anyone else have this problem? Can you guys suggest anything to get me out of this slump? My law school that I'm applying to bases entrance on GPA vs LSAT almost exclusively, so I need a range of 159-165 to "get in".

Help! :(

Hi, I was making up statements to practice and I'm confused about how "no" works when there is a double negative (or what I think is double negative). The statement reads: "No one who fails to come to the party is David."

Based on JY's lesson, we isolate "no" as a Group 4 Necessary Condition indicator. The first idea is "Fail to Come to the Party" (FTCTP) and the second idea is "David" (D). So, I pick either of the two ideas, negate it, and make it a necessary condition. I chose the first idea.

D --> /FTCTP

which, I think, can be rewritten as D --> CTP since "Not Fail to Come to the Party" is essentially "Come To the Party"

Is this lawgic accurate? Some of my friends are suggesting that because of the "fail to", the correct lawgic would be: CTP --> D

and now im confused :(

thanks in advance for your input!

score variations?

I finished the curriculum and did about 4 practice tests so far and i'm seeing dramatic score variations (like from 154 to 163 and back down to 151)... is this normal?? I'm wondering if the 163 was an anomaly and i'm trying not to get discouraged. I know it's still early in the PT stage, but what is everyone's experience with their score varying during PTs?

I am looking to study with someone for the September LSAT. Getting help from each other, by giving tips, advice, and having someone to follow the same journey as me this summer! I am a 4.0 student but this LSAT is kicking my butt right now (been studying for only a week now). But I won't let it get to me!

If you are interested let me know.

Hey everyone! I guess we're all kinda freaking out about the june thing. Here's a good, solid, full-proof conclusion that I've come up with after taking several prep tests in the last couple of weeks.

Now, I think my abilities range from somewhere in the 160s to 174/5, but this tip might apply to others as well. I had prepared extensively through the winter getting consistent scores 170+ (three consecutive 170, 171, 172). After continuing with a softer preparation through april/may, and then restarting full-on a couple of weeks ago I noticed that my logical reasoning score had gone way down. I was freaking out, missing 3-5 questions per section, without confidence/certainty. I decided to buy a book of advanced lsat that collects a lot of harder questions from earlier tests so I could improve my accuracy. But although it worked to get some concepts straight, it was a psychological killer. I was really second-guessing myself all the time because I would often think the questions were way harder than they really were or I was trying to come up with an absolute reason of why I was getting some questions wrong, started taking a reductionist formal approach to the questions.

So then I decided to tackle LR the way I had in the past (individual sections) in a relaxed (but accurately timed) manner, blind method and then checking the answers shortly afterwards. I started improving a lot (down to -2,-3 and then -1, -2) and I had a sort of epiphany.

Although many of you already know that formal logic is not that important for this section some of you might use it to gain more certainty and avoid some mistakes. That's the most dangerous thing you could do. Basically, avoiding over-abstraction and focusing on the reading comprehension skill of LR is KEY. I mean, yes, you could avoid some mistakes by getting to the core with abstract thinking but the questions that really call for that kind of thinking appear usually once or twice in a section, no more. There are many more mistakes that you can avoid by reading closely and scrutinizing the terms of the premises and conclusions, which is way easier and less time consuming.

I hope this is useful, it has definitely worked back for me as I'm back in the 170s train and hope to stay there all the way to the real thing.

Do we blind review every section? So basically review all of our circled questions, maybe even re-read the reading comp passages at a slower pace to confirm answer choices etc.? We basically can review the whole test at a slow untimed pace? THEN check our answers?

Also for full length PT's do you blind review the same day you took it or the day after? What do you think is more useful? Obviously when I am doing section drilling I will BR immediately after.

Any advice would be awesome! Thanks!!!!!

The system always says "enroll in a full course", but I'm already enrolled and paid. Now I can't study any lesson except the free trail. Am I the only person having this problem? Plz help!

Earlier this evening I was waiting for the train at the Fulton St. subway station when I noticed a young woman walking towards me carrying a violet/purple colored book. The familiar color and size of the book caught my attention. I immediately pieced together my observations and assumed that it was a Kaplan test prep book. Curious to know if I was correct, I fixed my eyes on the book hoping to see the famous Kaplan logo.

The young woman continued to walk towards me and as she came closer, I caught four white letters running across the violet backstrip/spine of the book—LSAT. It was a bittersweet sight. I was pleased to see someone else studying for the LSAT, but another glimpse of the book devastated me. The mere thought of her relying on Kaplan, as her (sole) source of information, was troubling. I had to act fast and recommend this site (7sage) to her.

Luckily, she stopped near me, albeit facing in the opposite direction. So I decided to tapped her on the shoulder. After exchanging greetings, I pointed at her LSAT book and asked her when she intended to take the test. She said this upcoming September—the same day as me. I advised her to check out the awesome and highly effective video lessons on here. She took out her cellphone and proceeded to type the name of the website on her note-taking app. At first she spelled the name of the website “sevensage.com”—which I found humorous—but I quickly corrected her perfectly understandable mistake. Suddenly, we heard the sound of the train as it approached the station. We knew there was not much time left. I made one last recommendation pitch as her train arrived. She thanked me for sharing the information and assured me that she would visit the site.

I was at peace with myself during my ride home because I know I did my part. Nevertheless, I genuinely hope she listens to my recommendation and explores this wonderful site!!

The Trainer by Mike Kim?

I took my first LSAT in June 2014. And with just the help of 7Sage I got to 152 from 138. But my score is still way far from my goal. I will be taking the September test. I extended my account with 7sage but I feel I may need more .I have a very tight budget and I heard good stuff about The Trainer. Any experience with this book? Should I get the book as well?

LSAT Tutor??

Has anyone used one? How much did you pay? Was it worth the money? Was it in person or via skype? Would an LSAT buddy be just as useful?

Would love if someone could elaborate on their experiences.

Hi All,Aidin Here,

I've been studying with 7sage for about 5 months now getting ready to take the September LSAT. When taking PT's I notice that there are some concepts that I haven't fully understood and since I started with J.Y. I would like to keep his methods and not mix it up. I'm looking for someone that is In Orange County area that is scoring above 168 and that can tutor me for couple hours maybe 1,2 sessions on the things I missed out or simply couldn't understand on my own. I wouldn't mind donating for the time spent since I know everyone is busy with school/work/family. Email me please if you could be of help Firouziaidin@gmail.com
