My schooling failed me when I comes to basic grammar and I’m not sure how to navigate this whole new beast of LSAT grammar. Tips would be appreciated!!

Format Question

Hello,

Are the practice tests that simulate the modern test still used? I was told by someone that they recently went back to the pre-2020 way of testing.

I was confused on whether - including the ungraded portion of the LSAT - you take 5 sections or only 4.

Thank you!

I'm 6 months into studying full-time, and I've been using 7Sage. My first LSAT sitting will be in September. My goal score is 175+.

I've hit 170 a few times and I got 50% extra time like 3 weeks ago. This has allowed me to spend a lot of time thinking about each question (3-5 minutes for the hardest questions on LR and RC).

I just don't get the point of Blind Review. It was pretty helpful when I studied with 35 min for each section. But now I feel like during the 53 min, I reach a point for every question where a) I'm between 2 ACs and I just have no idea which one is better – it's like a coin flip; b) I recognize that the problem itself is hard, but I am locked into my answer and no amount of time will make me change my opinion; c) I had no idea how to answer the question because the ACs were all unexpected (different from what I pre-phrased) or I can't find any clue to verify/reject the ACs (this happens for RC inference questions).

In conclusion, I reach a point during the test itself where more time wouldn't lead me to change my answer.

So Blind Review wouldn't lead me to change any of my answers.

It feels much better to find out what I got wrong and why I was so convinced that a wrong answer was right & the correct way to solve the problem.

Why spend 15 min agonizing over 1 problem, knowing that I am not confident in my approach, when I can literally just click on the explanation and find out why I'm wrong?

Please give me advice on how to improve! (LR and RC are the problems; I'm perfect on LG)

Please give advice while taking into account my explanation about why my 53 min/sections lead me to feel like it's the same as untimed Blind Review.

I have an accomodation for reading/thinking aloud on the LSAT. Are there any rules that anyone knows of for that? For example, I typically have a constant song running through my head when I'm focusing. I'm usually trying to talk over it honestly. However, sometime on LG, for example, while I'm redrawing set ups, I hum and sing those songs to try to get it out of my head. I can do everything without humming, but I'd like to know if I'd get in trouble for doing that. I really just don't want the proctor to interrupt my train of thought to tell me to stop humming or singing to myself. I'd rather focus on not doing it than having something throw me off day of. I know it's kinda a strange question!

Thanks!

Hello,

My name is Ken Kim. We are a group of Koreans and Korean-Americans planning to take the LSAT either this October or in a couple of years. We have members scoring from 160-175 either on the official test or practice tests. Some of us are committed full-time to the test while some of us are working at a company, law firm, etc. We meet on the following dates at the Gangnam station Exit 9 Wing Study Cafe.

8:00 pm-11:00 pm, Monday

8:00 pm-11:00 pm, Wednesday

2:00 pm-5:00 pm, Sunday

We usually meet and do questions from LR and RC. We match our answers and discuss why each one of us have chosen an answer we chose. The fee for joining the study is free other than paying for the studying cafe fee which is 1,900 KRW per person for each hour (5,700 KRW total).

If you are interested, please send me a message to my inbox. I will direct you further. Thanks!

Negation Help

Hi all!

Just a question on negation. So from what I understand, there are 2 ways we can deny the relationship (i.e A some /B and A and /B). But would it be ok to write /A and B ?

For example, if the record sells well, you will be famous.

Denying this relationship we get:

  • the record sells well and you will not be famous, or
  • some records sell well and you are not famous
  • Would it be illegal to say "the record doesn't sell well and you will be famous" (/Sell Well and Famous) ?

Please let me know, thanks in advance !

    Skip sections in lawhub PT?

Is there a way to skip sections or mark them "complete" so the next section can be shown before waiting 35 mins in lawhub?

For PT-73 I'd done LR1 before, so wanted to skip it in a new test to go straight to LR2.

    LR help MSS

Anyone have any tips on how to do better on MSS questions, i do understand the question stem and the passage but, I always seem to choose the wrong answer choice. I also understand the question but, maybe what is the point to a most strongly supported question.

    Hey all -

Currently prepping for the Oct 22 LSAT. I took the April 22 LSAT, had some significant life events in may/june, and resumed study in July

I had taken 5 timed PTs and an untimed diagnostic, and had worked my way up from 152 to a 168, 170, and 168 in my last tests. In April I was back down at a 162. I didn't feel like I was panicking more than I did in the PTs where I did better. Is a 6 or 8 point relative drop normal from practice to test day? Are there any things I can work on before October to even up the performance?

PTs are showing marginal but real progress from there, but I'm wondering how much I should discount that. I will say that I'm feeling more confident (particularly on LGs), but that's hard to measure.

Hi, I am taking the test the September test in about a month and Scoring in low 150 and high 140s. I do not know how to improve anymore. I have been studying for a little more than 4 months already. I am not practicing RC much because it is hard to improve since English is not my first language. I am getting confident at LG slowly. However, my LR is very bad. I get an average of 10 correct in the LR section. Any suggestions on how to improve any of these? I really want to improve my LR section.

For those of you that keep an RC missed questions journal: Do you find it useful? For those of you that don't: Is there a reason you don't? I've studied RC the least of any section and I'm wondering whether or not I should journal missed questions like I do with LR.

I have taken the LSAT before, but decided to retake. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis since last taking it. My symptoms are pretty bad (sudden onset, didn't have these issues when I first took the test). Will the fact that I took the test before without accommodation affect my chances of getting an accommodation this time around?

    Applying this cycle

    Hi everyone

I was dealing with really bad burnout for the last 3-4 months that developed over the pandemic, but am now feeling like I can pick back up and study for the LSAT for this cycle to apply to a few Ontario schools in Canada.

Looking to skip some of the core curriculum since I already did a full course with another LSAT prep program.

    Any thoughts on this?

Looking to skip over to doing practice sets

    Thanks!

Hi all! I'm taking the August LSAT (in ten days rip) and am aiming to crack 172. I'm pretty consistently at -0 or -1 for LG and -1 or -2 for RC but my LR score is inconsistent, averaging around -4. I've gone through all the LR curriculum, which only improved my score by one question (LR diagnostic was -5). I have also checked for patterns with the analytics tools, but the questions I get wrong seem to have no discernible pattern. I don't think it's a focus issue because I have noticed that all the questions I end up missing are questions I marked down as being unsure. Has anyone else had this problem and gotten through it? I've cleared my next 10 days to dedicate to LSAT studying and am currently planning on doing 1 PT a day with blind review in addition to 1 extra timed RC section and 1 extra timed LG passage to keep sharp. Since my scores for RC and LG are pretty high, blind reviewing normally doesn't take very long, and I can study well for about 8 hours a day (returns are diminishing for me after that), so it leaves a couple hours a day for LR training. Thoughts on how I can best spend my time dedicated to improving LR?

For background, I got my diagnostic score from 161 (PT82 taken on 6/17/22: -5LR, -10LG, -2RC) to low 170s in about a month just from games training, so I'd like to think it's possible for me to get from and LR score of -4 to -2 in the next ten days. However, I definitely do recognize that consistent LG improvement is generally way easier than LR improvement, so feel free to let me know if you think it's unreasonable and or insane lmao

and finally good luck to everyone taking the August LSAT!!! one final push and we will (hopefully) never have to think about the lsat again(3(/p)

Hi guys! What is the best way to approach RC? I tried the low resolution method which helped tremendously and I was able to raise my score from -12 to -3 to -5. However, I am aiming for 175 for October so I tried the Blueprint. It was helpful to learn about structure but now I find myself going back to the passage about 5-6 times because I get so focused on structure that I miss out on the content of the passage. I only went back to read referenced lines when I was using the low res method.

Is there a way to combine the two or approach the section another way to score -0 to -2 consistently? I think it can be done but only with the right approach. Thank you!

    Quick Breathers

I am just curious, are we allowed like a quick breather between sections? For example, can I take like a 20 second breather before I start section 2 or am I only allowed a break at the halfway point? I have no special accommodations FYI. Thanks!

    Help

I know strengths and weaknesses and the whole memo - but for drilling mode when I wanna practice various question types how many should I be doing ? 25- 30? like whats counter productive? I did 40 for lr and it seemed too much

    0

I chose (C) and I think it's wrong because passage B doesn't cite any authorities. But I take issue with the correct answer being (A) because it says that passage A "[doesn't] provide details," which I think it does. Doesn't citing what might be necessary requirements for a principle of rectification count as "details"?

Any help and clarification would be much appreciated.
