Hey y'all,

I am really struggling on how to grasp flaw questions. I was wondering if someone could help me in regards to how to make these questions easier (maybe a pdf of as many flaws as possible with how to answer them or like answer choices that would show up to demonstrate these flaws, etc. (I hope this is making sense)) and also any advice you could give me. I truly appreciate any help! I hope y'all have a great day!

The LSAT and the principles from the LSAT have proven to be really hard for me to fully understand. I make strides in my studying and prep when I think I'm improving my ability, and then other times when I just simply cannot understand why I'm getting problems wrong even after reviewing the lessons and doing BR on all of the problem sets. No matter how thorough J.Y's explanations are, it just seems like I can't consistently improve. I really feel like I'm in a rut. I've been studying for several months, but only for about 1 month in this program, and I'm taking the LSAT in June. I really see this as my last shot at achieving a high score. Yet I feel like I'm moving further and further away from that goal, and I don't know why. I can't comprehend why I can't seem to grasp the concepts well and consistently. I really don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or if I am just not cut out for a score of 160+. That may seem dramatic, but I feel incredibly hopeless and I don't know what to do to fix this feeling. Theoretically I could study more, but I have a full time job and a freelance writing job. I don't know what to do, I would really appreciate any advice.

Hello! I have taken the LSAT 3 times and received the scores 162 (Sep 2019 in-person), 160 (Nov 2020 Flex), and 154 (Jan 2021 Flex). I received the 154 after using 7Sage Prep between the 160 and the 154. I want to reapply to law schools next year because I believe I am still aiming for my top schools (some in the T6 and T14). I have a Master's (4.0 GPA) and solid "softs" as well.

Should I retake the LSAT for a fourth time, try taking the GRE, or some other option? Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Do you "shut down", or otherwise find yourself unable to think straight as soon as that timer starts counting down? If you are game, please try my test anxiety tip: full-on smiling during your toughest sections. I mean a wide grin, not a slight-curve-to-satisfy-the-school-photographer kind of small smile. Will you try it and report back in the poll and/or comments?

Hi,

I've seen "whatever" in many questions. For example:

i) "The meaning of a poem is whatever the author intends to communicate to the reader by means of the poem."

(PT57.S2.Q24)

ii) "The meaning of a poem is whatever meaning a reader assigns to it"

(PT55.S3.Q24)

My intuition is to make both sentence biconditional, without any strong logic reason.

I checked some grammar books, one mentions it's a relative and conditional determiner. It seems to also suggest that both of the sentences are bi-condiitonal.

So I want to know how you think about this. Any insights and comments would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

My situation is as follows: Next week's flex will be my third take, with November 2020 and January 2021 being my prior attempts. Since at least 2019, the LSAT testing year has run June-May, so I assumed the June 2021 test would not count towards the three takes per testing year rule. I've been operating under this assumption since I started studying last July. But, with LSAC's announcement in March that this year's testing cycle will start in August, I'm effectively barred from registering for June and will have to wait until August if I decide a 4th take is necessary. This really throws a wrench in my plans as I want to avoid any overlap between LSAT prep and personal statements, essays etc. I get the sense that this cycle change came at least in part as a result of the number of FLEX exams last year that didn't count towards test takers' limits. If this is the case, I feel I'm being penalized for something I wasn't even able to take advantage of....all tests starting with October 2020 do count towards the limit. Curious to see if anyone thinks I have a legitimate case here...or if LSAC has ever been known to show a hint of compassion lmao. I mean, some people took this thing 7 damn times last year.....

Premise: Resign--->Convicted

Conclusion: Convicted--->Resign

Would this be confusing N for S or S for N? I thought the two were interchangeable but they aren't right? Because this is a mistaken reversal, which is confusing N for S? The answer choice says confusing S for N, but isn't it the reverse?

Resign---> Convicted

/Resign---> /Convicted

Would this be confusing S for N?

Hi all,

Does anyone have any advice/tips on taking the writing portion of the LSAT? I've read it doesn't normally count for or against you and is used mainly to show you're competent with writing. I've read a couple of articles on prepping for it, but wanted to see what people have to say on here! Thanks!

I just took the writing portion and during the room scan I realized that there were a few things that I needed to remove from the room. I removed those things and had to rescan a couple of times. Since I had to leave the room will this invalidate my writing? Will I be able to call and have it reset? I know the video is on the whole time even outside of the room scan and actual test...

Hello! I applied February 1st to two law schools and haven't heard back from them. Should I be worried or am I just overthinking? Has COVID affected the admissions process and the length of time it takes to hear back from the schools? Anything would help calm my anxiety down!!

Hi Fellow 7sagers,

So I understand that while a few gifted few of us score within the 99-90th percentile-however it has come to my realization that at the very least the LSAT may as well be a gamble of an exam.

Case and point with the LSAT logic games section there is, and practically speaking so; a strategy of “skipping the Substitution question”- which at least seems to me to be a bit oddly peculiar when compared with other standardized exam formats. That is to say, after all there no other exam other than the LSAT has such a mechanic in place. Mind you I understand that as a future lawyer most of our work will consist of attention to detail, problem solving and lots of reading-however at least technically speaking the LSAT exam is at best a gamble-more particularly the Logic Games section. All this said, I am proud to announce that I have completely MASTERED the substitution question type granted my utilization of test prep materials such as Powerscore and 7sage-however I still find it to be a problematic case that the “skip this question due to time concerns” phenomena occurs-granted the livi tied time feature of the exam. Now bear with me I am intelligible enough to understand what rupees of arguments are bickering and at the very best complaining but I am convinced that I have hit a significant concern granted the evidence that most substitution questions warrant a person scoring in the high 80-90th percentile considering the performance curve. Therefore my question as a matter of this circumstance stands as-would anyone feel inclined to agreeing that the LSAT ought to seek a reformatting in the coming future? Perhaps an exam that consisted of just the Reading Comprehension Section and Logical Reasoning Section (2 major components of being a successful lawyer) would suffice as a legitimate test for law school admission. Any thoughts. Thanks.

I started taking sections on the LSAC’s Lawhub site to try to gain some familiarity with its user interface and one thing that struck me was how difficult it was to use the highlighter tool. I would try highlighting one word and next thing you know half the paragraph was highlighted. Super annoying. This issue occurred during RC sections, which I change the line spacing to its minimum bc is feels easier for me to read. This might very well be the reason for this issue but I’d rather not increase the line spacing.

For those who’ve sat for the digital LSAT/Flex, how similar is Lawhub to the actual test? Did you find difficulty using the highlighter tool like I did on Lawhub?

Am I missing something here?

This is a parallel method of reasoning question, and I know what the right answer is, but I thought parallel method of reasoning questions had to have a valid argument form.

Isn't this an invalid argument form / sufficiency necessity confusion:

X--->/Y

Gerald (/Y)

Gerald (X)

Isn't it wrong to say /Y therefore, we conclude X.

What am I missing here! This is an earlier test, so that could be the issue...

Hey 7sagers,

As the April exam approaches, I figured it would be helpful to host a review focusing on LR.

This will be a 2 hour review covering all question types in Logical Reasoning.

The Session will be held 4/8/2020 at 6PM EST

Join Zoom Meeting

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/4630306071?pwd=ZVRUV1FNSTFiNkZJRnBzYmN5YXUrUT09

Meeting ID: 463 030 6071

Passcode: x4w3Zj

We will be using PT 44 LR Section 1 for examples. I am not able to share my screen for this part of the session, Lawhub contains materials and content that is protected by copyright. Please make sure you have access to PT 44 so you can get the most out of this session.

Hey fellow 7Sagers,

I'm confused about one miscellaneous logical indicator, "is necessary".

For example, "Happiness is necessary for success".

Would the lawgical translation be S > H?

In LSAT 22 - Section 2 - Question 18, it reads,

"To classify a work of art as truly great, it is necessary that the work have both originality and far reaching influence upon the artistic community".

JY draws out in lawgic that TG > O and F.

Can someone explain to me how this is correct? I thought the lawgical translation would be O and F > TG.

Do you think that this is the most competitive cycle because of COVID?

Will the competition eventually die down the next two cycles?

I made my tuition deposit at SMU ... thinking about either just going ahead or retaking the lsat again ...& apply next year or the year after

I scored a 151 ... didn’t get much scholly... not a good test taker

So I recently got waitlisted at Northwestern (honestly shocked because I fully expected an auto reject lmao) and was wondering if it’s worth a shot to try and get off the waitlist by doing their Kira interview and extra written responses. In addition, if I do this, when should I send a LOCI to NU? Is there hope getting off the waitlist? I always saw WLs as soft rejections and never really thought much about them, but I really do like NU and it’s the one WL that I feel is worth trying for right now. But I have to admit that seeing some of the crazy waitlists (U mich for example), I wonder if there’s actually any hope lol I am still waiting to hear back from 6 schools so things may change, but any advice for getting off the WL is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, __I'm a student testing for the LSAT flex this April, but I saw that my testing date was moved from April 11th to April 13th eastern time.

Has anybody else had this problem?

I saw on the site that some tests could be delayed for proctor requirement accommodations, but I think this is so unfair if that's the case for me :(

I now have to take the test on a between two busy school days at nighttime hahahahah. I was expecting a peaceful sunday testing lmao.

The last sentence reads "The device is not yet used by a large percentage of car owners, but in cities where only a small percentage of car owners have the device installed, auto thefts have dropped dramatically."

I was very confused when reading "dramatically"; I thought it simply means an obvious drop in auto theft. But the size of the drop is still unknown---it can be small or huge. So I was struggled to spot a discrepancy.

Or, doe "dramatically" mean more than half of all auto thefts were dropped? I checked its dictionary meaning "by a strikingly large amount or to a strikingly large extent; greatly."

Any comments or insights would be really helpful! Thanks.
