hi all

so I have not been as diligent with my studies as I should have been over the summer because of some unexpected life events. I do most of logical reasoning+reading comprehension qs right however I am still struggling with games as I started to study it pretty recently. Do you think I should postpone my exam even though September is disclosed and I can get a performance sheet back? This one would be my first Lsat exam ever so I can't tell if I'm just freaking out or not. Please help with any advice you can give TIA

Hi everyone. I'm kind of in a predicament, and was wondering if I can have your insights/inputs. I'm in the process of asking for LOR from individuals, one of these individuals was a teaching assistant I had for one of my lab classes. Of all my years in undergrad, she was one of the only individuals who I can safely say really understood who I was as a student. If asked for, I'm sure she will write me a recommendation letter that has an honest testimonial of my capability as a student and everything that a typical law school LOR is looking for. The thing though is, because she is a teaching assistant she's afraid that her recommendation of me will not hold much weight in comparison to faculty members. What is your guys' opinion on this? Because, I went to a large undergrad institute, and most of my classes had 100+ plus students. If I were to ask a professor for recommendations, it's very unlikely I will receive a LOR as genuine and insightful as the one from the TA. Do you think it's ok for a TA to write a LOR as long as the LOR is a strong recommendation? Some sources I've seen online say 'yes', other's say 'no'.

Thank you!

Has anyone taken the online writing section? I took the test in July, but still haven't taken the writing. Can I take it anytime or is it only on the test date? I'm not sure if I missed it already

Hi! I will be applying to law schools in the coming months for enrollment in Fall 2020.

The only thing is, I am moving to Thailand to teach English on October 1st. I plan to be there from October through next May.

I have been in the workforce for three years now, and I have a strong resume with experience in investment banking as well as corporate finance.

I am just wondering, would it be beneficial to address the reason for leaving my current job in an addendum? Since I am not addressing this in my personal statement, I think an addendum may be a good opportunity to 1) address the reason for departing my current job which will be evident on my resume and 2) allow admissions to learn of my upcoming travels / employment overseas.

Thanks in advance!

The answers bar/graph thing that appears below each of the video explanation examples in the CC (prior to the problem sets) is not viewable when clicked on. For example, here: https://classic.7sage.com/lesson/birds-eat-all-day-na-question/?ss_completed_lesson=1781

I've tried reloading the page, reseting my browser, and using a different device (my iPad instead of my laptop) and nothing is working. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to troubleshoot. Thanks!

The digital tester for problem sets is live now! We know a lot of you have been waiting for this—thank you for your patience while we worked on this!

Where are the old PDFs?

Since LSAT is 100% digital testing now, the old PDF option is hidden by default. To see the old PDF options, tap the little PDF icon just under the bottom left corner of the tester.

How to Create Problem Sets

Just like before, you can create custom problem sets with any of the questions you have access to on your account. The difference is that you can take them using the digital tester, and all the problem sets you create are saved and tracked on your account. You can see a list of all the problem sets you have started/created on the Problem Sets page. Problem sets from the curriculum have book icons next to their names.

On that page, tap on "Create Custom Problem Set" to create a problem set. The interface is the same as the old "Question Bank" interface (but now it's faster!).

How to Take Single Sections

To do a single section, you make a custom problem set with the questions for the one section that you want to take. If you aren't familiar with the custom problem set interface, here are more detailed instructions on how to do this:

  • Go to https://classic.7sage.com/problem-sets/
  • Tap "Show Existing Problem Sets" at the top of the page
  • Set the PT range and section type you are looking for.
  • Select the questions/passages/games for the section you want to take. (tip: you can filter to a section by typing something like "pt01 s2" into the search bar, then tap the blue shopping cart icon on the top left of the table to select all of them)
  • Tap "Create Problem Set with..."
  • Take the problem set.
  • Drills are deprecated

The "Drills" lessons in Ultimate+ are now deprecated and will be deleted from the curriculum soon. You can easily recreate them with the Problem Sets page, so they don't serve a purpose anymore. For now, until they are deleted, you can still access them so that if you're in the middle of them you still know your current progress.

Please let us know if you see anything strange or broken!

I started studying back in November of 2016. In three years since then I have taken the test multiple times but a score of 170 has remained elusive. Now I am trying for another attempt, I want to ensure I get there.

The problem I am facing is that a score of -1, 0 in logic games is not coming. I consistently go -4 and sometimes even blow up as well.

I have done all I can that includes fool proofing 5-36 and more. I have done every logic game in tests 5-82 multiple times. And fool proofed them. so lack of practice cannot be the reason. I have watched JY videos of all logic games from 1-82. I try to make inferences upfront. Try to follow what JY suggests in core curriculum. I have tried to create set of best practices. Yet I have failed to reach -1 which a lot of people can do easily.

One of biggest problem is scoring less on unseen games. if I do a game set that I have done a long time ago, I will do it good. But an unseen new game set, would yield a score that is bad.

Now I am asking you? What else I can do? Not giving up but what is out there that I haven't tried and can try that can yeaild better results? Please share?

I have been looking at this question for a while and A, B, C appeared correct at first. I narrowed it down to C because it seemed like he was mocking and taunting the opposing view as to suggest their report ludicrous, an appeal to emotion. I ruled out A and B because although true, that did not seem like the main method of reasoning he was using. Now that I know B is in fact the correct answer, I have eliminated A & C on the grounds that they are referring to context parts and the major premise "could not imagine any senator..." seems to imply Answer choice B more closely ...What do you guys think?

Admin note: edited title; please use the format of "PT#.S#.Q# - [first set of words]"

Hi! My main struggle is the reading comp section- likely because I suffer from ADHD. The syllabus appears to not have much on reading comprehension unfortunately, so I have a few questions.

  • Does it help a lot to do the reasoning sections in the syllabus before? I am not struggling with that section but maybe it teaches things that help later on with the reading comp?
  • Does anyone have any advice about getting increased scores in this section?
  • are there any free websites or resources that help with this?
  • thank you

I'm planning on writing in November after the LSAT goes fully digital and I was curious about what kind of tablet LSAC provided. Was the screen resolution quality good? Was the tablet attached to a desk or were you able to move it around? Did you have any problems during the test (technical or comfort related)?

    Thanks!

I just discovered the blog and it seems to have tons of interesting articles.

But I find that it has a really annoying layout. It would be nice if you can see the article titles all at once instead of having to scroll through every article page after page, or even to filter articles by category.

I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this, or if there are any plans to organize it?

I'm about 90% done the Ultimate course and decided to do a PT yesterday because I was getting tired of watching videos and doing practice sets, and I can't believe I got 177 as an actual score!! Didn't change any answers for the blind review so the score is the same. It was for Prep Test #36 which is the first one I've done since starting the course 2 months ago.

Before starting the course, I got 163 on the June 2007 test and then 164 on PT54 so I feel like it's a huge improvement! Granted I've done some studying in the past (2 months in 2017) so I wasn't taking the previous PTs blind.

Still in shock because I felt like there were so many hard questions that I wasn't sure about but this is such a huge confidence boost, so I wanted to share my happiness and encourage everyone to get the course if you haven't already. Happy studying!!

I'm taking the test in September, and I'm trying to really crack down so I can break my plateau and increase to where I want to be. It always helps to talk out certain questions and discuss study methods and techniques, so if anyone is in Orange County and wants to meet up, or would be down to work on certain problem sets & then discuss, let me know!

    Hi everyone.

I am needing some advice on how to improve reading comp. To give you an idea of where I am in my prep, here is the breakdown of my last PT:

    LR: -4

    LR: -6

    LG: -3

    RC: -12

It's pretty clear to me where I need to be focusing most of my energy. I have another full year before I am going to take the test (if I need to stretch my test date out). I have also gone through the curriculum trying to employ JY's memory method and drilling older PT RC sections, and the LSAT trainer's "reading for reasoning structure" method. Additionally, most of the time I am rushing to finish the last passage. No strategy or drilling has resulted in a significant jump thus far.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to give me any advice on this section. It really has discouraged me, since employing the blind review method and drills have immensely helped my LR score, and fool-proofing is of course the component behind my LG score. I just feel helpless when it comes to making a significant improvement in RC, but there has to be some main strategy to address the section with.

The LSAT question bank is no longer showing up under "Resources" on the website or mobile app. Is this no longer going to be a function on 7Sage? I found it really helpful to sort by question type and difficulty. Instead I only see "LSAT Explanations" which... I think is new, but not sure.

    Thanks all!

I've taken 16 PTS so far with an average score of 164. I started out with a diagnostic of 159, and have managed to pretty consistently score in the mid-160 range. However, one practice test I took (PT48) I scored a 172 and that has been my highest score to date. On logical reasoning, on average I'm missing 4 questions, on logic games 6 questions, and on reading comprehension 5 questions. I'm unclear as to my best plan of action for the next couple weeks leading up to the September LSAT. Should I focus on logic games, getting that to a minus 0 before focusing on the other sections? Or should I continue to PT once/twice a week while drilling (mainly logic games) in between?

I am scheduled to take the November LSAT and need advice on when I should start taking timed sections. I get majority of the questions right without the time constraint but as soon as I try to take a timed section I psych myself out. Also, how many PT's should I be taking starting now up until November?
