Do you think that I have a chance for either NYU or Columbia with a 170 and 3.9 GPA but no extracurriculars. I scored 6 points lower than my average LSAT practice tests on the September exam
Most schools will take a Feb LSAT. Even NYU and Columbia will take it (even though they say they don't) as long as you just email them by Jan1 for approval.

wait what, seriously????
Also worth checking out study abroad/dual degrees at schools that have a strong international focus like at NYU and Columbia. For example, Columbia has FANTASTIC options to get LLMs in other countries.
Have you received a fee waiver from nyu, Columbia, or upenn? Upenn's applications seems tedious and hard to be accepted for. And nyu and Columbia don't send out need based fee waivers
For NYU and Columbia Why X's, what I hear is that they kinda already know why people want them so it might be redundant to add an additional document on this, but if you have a really compelling reason to write one, don't hold back.
They won't be bothered by the 169 if you have a higher score. Right now, you've got about a coin toss chance (according to lsn) at the lower T14. A 173 would give you a solid shot at NYU and Columbia, and a slight chance at HYS and Chicago
