I think it's a great asset for you to "scope out" your testcenter. Your question is subjective man. Do whatever that'll keep you sharp and energized before the test. Good luck!
I agree, the same thing happens to me. You have to rely o your intuition. Breaking out all the logic is for training. I think it should only be used intest when you are stumped and have extra time to go back or you are uncertain and the same.
