As someone who has withdrawn before, I can confirm that the only downside to it is losing the $ if you don't do it by the refund deadline. It will not show up on your record (essentially, it's as if you never even signed up).
The policy is on the LSAC website, ... any two-year period. This policy applies even if you cancel ... steps necessary to enforce this policy.
For significant extenuating circumstances ... , exceptions to this policy may be made by LSAC ...

And that's the worry @licknee10 -- I'd love to aim for those very schools! Harvard updated their policy to include acceptance of the highest scores. But other policies are more ambiguous.
I just purchased mine yesterday for LR section, and it is against their policy to share. It is licensed specifically to you and they can sue you for sharing. I know several test prep sites who have done that. I don't think it's worth the risk.
