Does the find text button work during the actual LSAT? I heard that it lags a lot which is why some people don't bother using it, but for questions like these if the find text button actually works during the real test, then it makes our lives much easier

UPDATE: took the test last weekend, the "find text" button works very well, no lagging whatsoever :)

In my timed read-through of this passage I had chosen E over B because of my misinterpreting of the grammar. I had found where it mentioned the 19th century and had eliminated it based on the word "until". In my mind this meant that this glass making technique existed before but not during the 19th century so it could not differ from today.

I also misinterpreted support for E through the same sentence. The passage reads "before the 19th century the only..." which to me was suggesting that the author believes that all glass that was made before the invention of the new technique had been subjected to these impurities. Medieval glass was made before the 19th century and thus this is how this glass came to be.

Not sure why this one specifically gave me trouble over the others. Based off the analytics I seem to be the only one who psyched myself out on this question.

Nineteenth century means until nineteenth century? Got the answer right but maybe I'm just being pedantic with the grammar lol

@Dbarsemian In the last paragraph it explains how glass was made until the nineteenth century, which you are correct in noting, but after that it says, "Later, glass was drawn into sheets by pulling it..." which refers to the method used in the nineteenth century. After this explanation, we then learn of the most modern techniques used today which differ from the one used in the 19th century.

got it in 17 seconds under timing, A & B were similar but 17th cent and midevil are too close and not that much chnaged, the chnage was from 19th to today

I wasn't sure between A and B, but because of my low res summary I knew where to go to find that information. Ended up getting it right 4 secs under time. The techniques are so helpful!

This seems to be more of an Implied question vs a Stated question to me. We have no idea when the "later" technique was actually developed based on the passage, only that it was "later."

I spent too long staring B in the face thinking it was some sort of trap because I was unsure of the meaning of "until." I was thinking the "modern method" we use today started in the 19th century, so the 19th century method and modern method mentioned in B were one in the same. I only chose B because the others were just too outlandish. This test makes me so paranoid

for stated questions, is it okay for the answers to be quite narrow? i kind of struggled with this one because choice B felt too specific and focused on just a small part of the stimulus

How does a technique being used "LATER than the nineteenth century" necessarily implicate the technique being used DURING nineteenth century?

there are two extra centuries to spare there wherein that technique couldve been used without it being in the 19th century.

Really thought I was getting tricked there :(

I also had this question but realized it's because it's reasonable to assume that they were still making glass in the 19th century - there was probably no century-long gap in glass-making. Until 19th century was globe method (and ONLY the globe method), and later there was the rod method, and now there is the tin method. So IMO it's definitely not concrete but it is the most reasonable assumption to make (out of the ACs).

@nnkNewYork That's why I don't think this is a true "stated" question. It seems like the answer to the question that (B) poses was strongly implied rather than must be true.

I misread A and thought that it was asking about the 17th century versus today. I totally understand why I got it wrong.

NOTE: The question in the "Drill" might be different from the one in the video. We're looking into the cause of this issue. In the meantime, please use the text from video to try the question first (in your mind, unfortunately).
