are ear plugs allowed?

i took lsat in 2008 and had a complete anxiety attack whilst the person next to me was incessantly tapping their pencil. I had to walk out...and well i think you know what the rest of that story is. Please tell me ear plugs are allowed. or am i going to have crumble scratch paper and ball it up in my ears???

Hi all I am new here and I am hoping someone could give me some advice please!

So I have been studying for the LSAT using Kaplan, power-score and I occasionally used some 7sage videos of off Youtube. I still struggle for some odd reason with N.A and S.A. I understand the difference between the two and when I read the question stem I understand which is N.A and which is S.A but for some odd reason I still struggle to understand what to look for in the answer choices.

(Very) old LSAT

I took LSAT in 2008ish...there doesn't seem to be a record of it. I created a new account etc. There doesn't seem to be any trace of it that I can find. However im sure it is linked to my SS number somewhere in the ether. Do I need to worry about this at all??

Thanks.

October Test

Hey guys,

So my timed PT's are around 152-155 and I'm BR'ing around 160-161. Currently scheduled for the October test but having second thoughts on it since my goal score is a 160. I'm thinking of going ahead with the October test and probably take it again January 2020. Thoughts?

Thank you

This weekend I sent about 15 emails to alumni of various schools I'm applying to. I'm hoping to gain some advice from them and maybe a pearl or two that I can use in my Why X essays.

I've gotten six responses already, which is more that I expected to receive! Everyone so far has been very warm and willing to get on the phone with me for 20 minutes, so I have a bunch of interviews coming up in the next few days!

Because my outreach has been pretty successful (so far) and because I was really nervous about doing it, I wanted to post my process here, in case a step-by-step guide might help assuage anyone else's nerves.

Here's what I did:

1) On LinkedIn, searched for the law school itself

2) Visited their alumni list

3) Narrowed the list by geography: I chose to see only those who work in the city I plan to work in after graduation (side note: three of my schools had 0 alumni listed as living in my city of choice, so that's food for thought)

4) Narrowed it further by selecting only the alumni who listed law firms as their employer (rather than government, etc).

5) Made a list of the recent graduates

6) Googled them to learn about their firm and what kinds of projects they work on

Bonus: I had originally intended to message folks on LinkedIn, but I realized as I began to google the alumni that most of their firms listed each attorney's email address publicly. So I emailed them instead!

Hope this is helpful!

Hi all,

I’m in my last month of prep and have been lurking on 7Sage for a bit of time. Since I’ve been working full time through this I haven’t been able to interact as much. Since I’m changing my position after this test to something a bit easier before law school I wanted to say hi and see if there was anyway I could help others and this discussion board has helped me quite a bit.

If anyone is a full time worker starting this process I would love to give any words of wisdom(failures) I’ve had this far when it comes to tour study schedule.

I was thinking of taking the test in november however with school I've haven't had enough time to study and have been doing a PT each week with a score on average of 164. I'm applying to canadian schools and my target score is 168 ish. Is January a better options for me? don't know if that'll be too late.

Hi all --

Like quite a few of you on here, I was just gutted by the lsat yesterday. I was PTing as high as 169, and hitting a consistent 167 in my last three PT's before the test.

The AR section totally destroyed me. I'm guessing maybe 10 correct, if I'm lucky 14. I've estimated my worst possible scenario (taking into account the predicted -12 curve) at a 157, and best case scenario at a 164. This is complicated by the fact that each time I got a high score on a PT (including the 169), I was convinced that I bombed it.

My biggest issue is that my target school, McGill, averages LSAT scores, and I've been specifically instructed to write once and "make it count." I'm also outrunning an awful GPA from over a decade ago, so I don't have much leverage.

As much as I'd like to hope that LSAC comes out with an unprecedented curve (e.g. -16 or something), I know that this is far from a belief I can rely on. I've been monitoring the forums carefully, and as I suspected, those who had not such a bad time on LG have started to come out of the woodworks and post about it. I simply can't deny the fact that if I were better prepared like they were, I would have made it through that section alive.

So my question is twofold:

(1) It seems like a lot of people are worried about this LG section -- but what are the chances, really, that the curve will reflect this difficulty? I have a hard time believing LSAC will make any special accommodations for us.

(2) I'm almost definitely looking at a cancel and a redo. So should I schedule for the November test? Or will that not be enough time to make a significant improvement? I feel like I could use some time off; I haven't taken a break from studying in over four months. I'm looking to apply next year by September.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

BR timed GAP

For those great scorers in the high 160s, and 170s, did you get there through getting your blind review extremely high? Or eventually being able to close the gap between BR and timed tests? Personally, Im BRing around 170-172, and scoring around 164-165 right now. Not sure where to go from here.

Grammar Flashcards?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has made or knows of a quizlet or some cheat sheet of the terms introduce in the grammar lessons? (premise indicators ETC)

thank you!!

Hi everyone

Its me again. I think I am going crazy from this test?

I am consistently scoring -10 in my LR sections, -5 in LG, and RC varies TREMENDOUSLY. Generally 10 wrong. Today I got 20 wrong in PT 38. Last week like 8 wrong in PT 62. PT score is like 154-155 which is really not good.

When i go through my BR, I can score -2/-4 in LR, -2/0 in LG, and RC... it really depends how much time i put into it, and on the passage. My BR score is 165+. So, I do know what im doing (I think)

When I go through the LR, I notice that I make the DUMBEST errors. Like i misread, I stress, I rush, I try to get it done. I just miss things the first time around. And the RC can barely hold my attention, some of the topics are honestly terrible and horribly abstract (I am MUCH better with science/econ/law passages). I tend to misread and get tricked easily by MCQ, because im under the time constraint.

Anyways, its starting to really stress me out and my score is getting WORSE. Like, a lot worse. And it is really awful and frustrating?

I really dont know what to do. I've been studying like a crazy person, I spent my whole summer in the library, like 50+ hours a week. My expectations are not even that high, I just need +160. I am writing in October.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Suggestions that are not "get a tutor" (I really, really, cannot afford it/anything else). I honestly feel like I am going to lose whatever bit of sanity i have left :(

I'm sure this has been addressed already, however I have a few questions in regards to ED that I would appreciate some feedback from.

First, Just to be clear, you can only ED for ONE school, correct?

Second, should you apply ED before you take the test?

-In other words, do you have an advantage of applying early in the ED cycle, or is it irrelevant to schools as long as it's within the deadline.

Third, how low is too low for ED? (MAIN QUESTION)

  • My GPA is .2 below the medium and my LSAT is 3 below the medium. My chances right now according to 7 sage are 63%. Is that too low to use my ED on? Does any one have a good rule of thumb, in terms of percentage, when it's too low of a chance to use my ED on?

I did not take the September test but I did take the July undisclosed test and have done the late 80s tests. I feel like some of the old school elements are starting to reappear so the older test may be more important than they used to be and especially since I here that the recent test logic games had a circle game and a misc game.

On some of the late 80s test, I have noticed a bit of a resurgence in lawgic that dissipated in the 50s 60s and 70s. Also, reading comprehension, I think they have brought back the old trick of making the 2nd passage the hardest or at least be open that this might be the case. So if the 2nd passage seems insanely hard, don't let it throw you. And from what I am hearing, September logic games were difficult, and it sounds like the logic games are reminiscent the 20s, especially late 20s.

Also, they brought back the misc. game in the late 70s early 80s but wasn't on 87 or July but I think people said there was one on 88.

There is also the annoying trend on parallel reasoning where all the answer choices are on the same topic, I don't know when this started but I fear it's not going away.

    Anybody notice anything?

    [Edit]

Thanks everyone for your interest! I've connected with someone.

The study buddy feature is not working for me for some reason so I thought I would post here. If you are studying for the October/November test, scoring in the 150s or low 160s and looking for a free tutor please message me. I am also preparing for the October test (and registered for November) so it will be a good way for me to both share and strengthen the strategies that have helped me.

I am consistently going -4 to -2 in RC, -6 to -2 in LR, and -3 to -0 in LG. Also, I prefer to meet in person so if you are in or near Chicago and its north suburbs please let me know!

Hello fellow Sagers! I'm looking for some extremely honest advice as I have just hit (and actually surpassed) my goal score for the very first time and am wondering if I should keep my scheduled test date for October 2019?

Few things to consider: I surpassed my score even with missing 5 points on LG. I am really hoping that by the end of this month, I will be missing no points in this section and thus, will be scoring even higher. I would definitely love recommendations for how to ensure I perfect LG's in this short amount of time.

Secondly, this was on PT 60. I've read many times that older PT's are easier/different from newer ones so I am wondering if this score is even representative of my actual improvement. I took pretty much all of the most recent ones in preparation for my last LSAT sitting in June so I am not sure if I should begin redoing those most recent ones now or if I should keep taking the older ones that I've never seen before. I am on the 7Sage starter so most of my practice tests are in the 40's range and I have seen pretty much everything 65 & above from my previous LSAT prep with Kaplan (prior to June).

Any advice would be extremeeely appreciated!! Thanks in advance & Happy studying all.

    June 2007 Prep-Test

    Hello All,

Just wrapped up week 2 of CC and I've come up to the Prep Test for June 2007 (optional diagnostic). I was wondering if anyone had skipped it and learned all of the CC first .....or if it is recommended to take right now even before learning about the other question types on the test. Thoughts?

    Thanks!

I began studying over a year ago using Khan Academy and then Powerscore with a diagnostic of 148. After getting a 151 and 152 on the March 2018 and the July 2018 LSAT's I decided to commit to 7Sage curriculum. I feel like I have learned a lot more and have a deeper understanding of logic and its principals. But I have now taken 5 practice tests and gotten 149s and 150s for all of them. I think I'm following JYs method of flagging any questions I'm not 100% about. Taking my time to BR. And then watching the explanation videos and reading comments not he ones I still miss or wasn't entirely sure why it was right. My BR is usually low 160s. So I understand that my knowledge has improved but its not translating to my time scores. Is it normal to not see improvement until I've taken more practice tests? Is there something I am not doing in my studying that could help me improve? I'm feeling discouraged. I am planning on taking the LSAT in October.
