Wondering if these are recorded? Thanks!

Thanks!!!! A few questions:

172 with a “few weeks of study” Wow ok.

I use the Pacifico method for my foolproofing too (sooo many sheet protectors!!). I don’t however, do it by section--I’ve been doing it in the order they appear in the CC, as noted earlier. Perhaps I should switch to section-by section, though, since I know that will give me a better sense of what I am to expect on test-day.

What was your purpose in doing 2 on Saturday (vs. 1)? And were these 4 or 5 sectioned tests?? How did you not burn-out doing 2 in a row?? (Sry I know that's 3 questions! :)

Did you use any particular method to track & plan out your study progress ?? (Big calendar hung on wall, wrote it in a planner, google calendar, good ole excel spreadsheet, etc.)

It seems from your strategy, you finished the entire CC and then went into fool proofing 1-35 + more recent games. Maybe I should do that too, because fool proofing while also doing LG CC is making the CC take MUCH longer. I think I’ll instead just set-up my foolproof pages for the LGs I encounter in the CC, so they’ll all be printed & ready once I am ready to revisit & foolproof them after I finish the entire CC.

I have 63 days until Dec test day. I do however, have a full-time job (which requires out-of-state travel), a part-time job (avg 4 hrs/wk, tho), and am pretty active socially (monthly civic assoc. & board mtgs, etc.) However -- I am a pretty focused & determined individual and my PTO @ my job is really generous / flexible (I've already requested off almost every single Friday until Test Day, heh. and i plan to take off much more the closer I get to it). I've been at this for 1.5 years now, and am slowly but surely creeping towards my goal score of 170 (highest PT has been 167). On every test LG is by far my weakest spot, so, similar to you, I am hoping a strong LG focus via 7Sage will bring my score to where I want it to be. (I still curse PowerScore every day for teaching me their antiquated methods...)

Thanks so much, @ for taking the time to write out your whole strategy! It’s greatly appreciated. If the LSAT alone wasn’t hard enough, it’s real challenge just to identify / know which studying practice works best for yourself !!

I still welcome an one else’s feedback & suggestions. ? Thank you.

Context: I took the Sept test, am registered for the Dec. I've been studying for almost 2 years using a variety of prep options, but recently discovered 7Sage in July 2017 I only got thru about half of LG CC (w/ no RC or LR CC) before taking September test. I have 2 questions:

I have been foolproofing LG's as I'm move along in the LG CC. As in, I (attempt to) fool-proof whatever game I've just learned in CC. Per someone's previous comment / suggestion, should I not be doing that ?? Should I wait until I finish learning ALL the LGs in CC to begin the 1-35 fool proof method ??

@ said:

If you need to address pacing, take footage of your tests and then watch it back with a stopwatch and a spreadsheet. Once you see the data all broken down, your issues become really conspicuous.

Could you please elaborate on this, @ ? I've seen where others mentioned doing this, but I am not sure of the entire logistics (when it comes to inputting into spreadsheet, etc.) Is there a webinar or detailed post that explains this method ??

As always, thank you!

All I remember from my few months with powerscore (4y ago) is the greater than signs and just nothing making sense. now LG is a piece of cake.

Haha, yeah, their pure sequencing games are hell! Things like that are why I didn't really ever catch on with them. 7Sage is where it is as!

100%! That's why I bought the whole curriculum since the lg was so great.

Is it possible to purchase just LG curriculum from 7sage, without purchasing the whole CC? Is that what you mean you did ?? Or do you mean you just watched the (free) LG explanation videos, which were helpful to you, and then you purchased the CC? I've watched the LG videos but I find myself confused... (w/ out having learned his ways via CC)

I think it's unfair that they recycled a test that wasn't entirely sealed. Revealing the type of a specific logic game gives some test takers an unfair advantage.

What do you mean by "wasn't entirely sealed" ??

Noooo!! - I had LG as experimental but from the looks of it it sounds like the harder one was NOT experimental. The LG section with the spacial Junior/Senior game was the true LG, I guess. Can someone confirm?? Or also mention the other games that were in that section?

I can confirm the Mayan, arts/sports evaluation comparative, womens' rights in the French(?) Revolution, & the "knowledge of everything in Science" RC section was real.

Also, yes the teddy bear & stress/debt LR(s)were real. Also I remember questions about ........crap literally can't remember anything right now jajaja. Just so glad it's over! My 3rd time taking it since Sept 2016. Happy to confirm LR sections if others post questions they remember.

My test was: LG - LR - LG - RC - LR. The last LR seemed easier than the first.

@ @ Thanks! Was just reading what others have been doing over these few days too... should I use this PT to drill ?? Or do you recommend I drill old sections? Again, thanks!

The title pretty much says it all! Wondering if I should commence "chilling" tonight, or if I can just take the day tomorrow to relax. I feel like since I do have a fresh PT left, I should make use of it. I've already taken the LSAT twice (Sept 2016 & 2017), and I finally feel confident in my average PT scores for test day Monday. This will be my last time taking it. Any guidance in general on what I should be doing tonight / tomorrow is appreciated! Thanks all. And good luck to everyone taking it in 2 days!

#help but the stimulus doesn’t day the ONLY other thing to evaluate is how reasonable their arguments are. IT just says it’s ALSO important to consider. THats why I didn’t choose B, because there could have been many other factors that contribute to a good performance!

I'll remember more as I think about it but at very least:

LR1 - moose and deer; modern usages of land measurement

LR2 - can’t remember

LR3 - bike sharing; meteorologists’ forecasts

RC1 - native language preservation; judges’ honesty; Freud/Marx; can’t remember the other

I thought the RC was unusually difficult, and L1 (for me) was harder than the other two. Not sure which was experimental.

I definitely did not have bike sharing /meteorologist LR.

It amazes me how you can remember all of that !!

Hey @ did you have the jogger and dress code question as your second LR?

I had 3 LRs. Didn't have any jogger/dress code question tho, for sure.

Had three LRs. First had one about perimeter lights and vandalism. Second had one re: cost of energy use in rooms. Third (I think) had one about an art critic and opera. Could very well be confusing the last one with the second, though.

i had 3 LRs as well. definitely had the one w/ the perimeter lights & vandalism.

i also had one abt deer & population in/decrease..anyone have that one too?

trying to think of other questions i had but it just all went to fast..

Reviewing the same PT (64) as the other study group on Sundays @ 7 PM, is that intentional? Just wondering if there's a strategy there btwn the 2 groups that I'm not aware of and if it makes sense for me to attend both or not. Thanks! @

@ ah OK, that's real helpful, thanks. Yea my question was more so do you think it's worth it (to learn a whole new LG approach, whether 7sage or Man. Prep) given the amount of time I have until the Sept. '17 test. but from your "you will be missing very few" that kind of sold me on 7sage. I'm going to sign up for the LG curriculum now! Yea, PowerScore LG has not lead me to any type of success. Thanks!

My average score for my last 10 PTs (before this week) was a 165. My LR average for last 5 tests was -3. I was feelin good about my improvements and workin closer to a 170. However, I just took 2 PTs (75 & 77) this week, and got a 159 on both of them. For context, I haven't scored that low in about a year.

Totally at a loss and depressed and in total disbelief. I thought the first 159 was an anomaly & shrugged it off, but after the 2nd one... I now feel like I have no grasp on how test day will go on Saturday. This is really scary. I've been at this for over a year and a half but this score is not showing it (relative to myself & to how I scored in my early days of studying, of course--not saying at all that 159 is not a strong score or not a result of many months of studying).

In a word, I'm devastated. The only explanation I can come up with right now is that I've been pretty focused on LG over the last few weeks, and RC even in just this past week.. so maybe my mind isn't "in it" for LR ?? I say that because I went from getting 0-3 wrong per section, to -9, -6, -5, -7 in these most recent LR sections.

So, if that is the case -- any recommendations on what I should do (both mentally & studying methods) to get my head back into it ?? I've been drilling LR questions this morning but I'm still having the same problem &/or not feeling that confident in my answers choices. Any help would be appreciated, especially if something similar has happened to someone else.

Thanks.

Thanks, yall !!! @ Is it VERY quiet ???? I did my first PT with my current watch and the sound threw me off TOTALLY & I got one of the worst scores in months. Just want to double check, before I order, bc I'm now realizing how important that is !!!!!! @

Thanks !!!!!!

Thanks yall, so much !! Extremely helpful clarification / confirmation.

One more question, if you don't mind - how do you know what the target amt of time is for each game (to know when you've 'fool proofed' it - in addition to feeling like you've mastered the game)? Is it just general & based upon difficulty level of the game? If so, what is the range (or max) for the difficulty levels? My best guess would be:

Easy 4-6 mins

Med 6-8 mins

Hard 8-10 mins

Thanks !!!!

@ ah, that's helpful. you think it's worth it to learn MP's LG stuff for sept ?? i'm consistently PTing getting 0-2 wrong in LR sections, 2-4 in RC, but like, 5-12 wrong in LG..so, it's not like i really "know" much, lol.

I agree re: eschewing PowerScore. I used the bibles to start off my studying (then took a subsequent online course), but used the LSAT Trainer after the bible's and find the Trainer MUCH better. I had to un-learn a lot of PS's ways in LR (like, to read the stimulus BEFORE the question stem(??)). And I feel like it might have messed me up on Games, too, as someone pointed out earlier about their cumbersome diagramming practices. I don't have anything to compare it to, but I watch JY's vids & he seems to have a much better strategy (even tho I don't know how to do it, heh).

I just now bought the Manhattan Prep LG book (I believe MP & the Trainer are by the same person/people), but I'm scared to start it, as I'm registered for Sept & don't know if I can learn a whole new system in time after studying for a year+!!!

Oh yea last thing - Powerscore Reading Comp Bible is TRASH - throw it far, far away from you. Or just recycle it.

(Or point me to that resource that does explain it)

I recently purchased the Starter package, almost exclusively for the LG fool-proof method. I am debating a refund though, bc I am not able to see or understand how the benefits come from this method (NOT at all saying it doesn't work, I realize 2 weeks is not enough time to reap the benefits- but that is why I'm inquiring here!).

Everytime JY says to repeat the game + inferences from memory, my mind goes all mushy, bc I don't see how that will help me (THAT much) on test day? I know the games are all pretty similar in structure, etc. (Have been studying for over a year and a half, probably have done abt 3/4 of the games that exist), but I feel like I would benefit from drilling into my mind how each inference came to be, vs. just writing an rule down bc I literally remembered writing it down the last time I did it? JY explicitly says to do straight from memory and NOT based on remembering how each rule kicked in to create that inference. (Seems similar, for ex., to learning the word "lackadaisical" bc my Ex's band name is Lackadaisical, & he is a really lazy person, instead of learning what the actual word means)

I guess I am getting pretty frustrated with the course too bc JY fails to explain this--the "How"--in his videos (at least as far as I've gotten so far. If it's in a certain lesson, pls let me know!!). Also, he doesn't address how to do the LG Questions, either. Do I choose those answers from memory, too ?? Do I read each word in the question stem?? (Same thing with the game set-up, do I read each word there, too, As if it was test day??)

I've just heard so many great things about his videos, strategy, & explanations, and I guess I just had a very different expectation. I would seriously seriously appreciate it if someone could help me out. Would love to get to ~2/3 wrong on LG as so many people here have mentioned here, but my frustration / confusion with the method is really keeping me from being motivated enough to continue with it.

Thanks for listening / reading !!

@ wow. when you say you "kept copies" of every LR & RC you got wrong, can you explain that a little more? did you print out new sheets? did you write on them? did you keep the ones when you choose the incorrect answer & Review those too? do you write the reasoning down on the questions? did you keep them in a folder or what ??

i do a lot of writing on LR/RC questions during my BR (A LOT), and I've thought about possibly keeping them for review but wasn't sure if that was realistic / how helpful that would be. would be good to know a little bit more about how you did it and your take. thanks!

Obviously the June test day has come and gone, and you've already decided (& acted on) what to do. For what it's worth, I 100% agree with postponing it - there's literally no reason not to. As someone earlier pointed out, "the LSAT is not something to be rushed."

And especially as a splitter - which is why I still wanted to make a comment. You said, "I'm afraid if I don't take the LSAT soon, it will affect my application because I only have a 3.3 UGPA." -- what does taking it sooner have to do with anything? If anything, it's better to take it later, since you'll be more removed from your UGPA. I have no clue when or if you've graduated, what your professional experience is etc., but NOT rushing your LSAT seems like the best thing to do.

Good luck!

As a super splitter hearing all of this kind of sucks. The LSAT use to be the metric where people like me could make up lost ground. Now it seems the test is becoming almost diluted in a sense. I'm on the same boat as you. I want the status quo to hold this cycle purely for selfish reasons.

(by super splitter I mean 2.7 cumulative GPA, 4.0 degree gpa, and a roughly 169-170 LSAT)

very similar boat. although it 100% goes against my ideaology / vision for the future, i totally hope good LSAT scores remain as exclusive & unattainable as ever in this cycle, as i have put my everything into studying for this dang test over the last 2 yrs. love the term super splitter. i am working w/ a 3.1 gpa (graduated 4 yrs ago),a URM, and PTing around 165. can taste 170+ come september. i also am 1000% set on being accepted to (multiple) t14s, (& w/ money. well ..that part i am a little less than 1000% on lol). but i'm also an extremely positive person, but think (know) that that influences my generally good outcomes/achievements in life (motivates me to continue to work hard, etc.)

if schools did this in a actually truly helpful way, they would announce that they'll start accepting the GREs 3 or 5 yrs out. so people like us aren't stuck in this situation, AND so people w/ great GREs really have time to think thru theo decision of applying/going to law school.

but alas, we got this. we'll kick ass and one day will look back and this will all be..funny (somehow).

Sadly, I have a 'Withdrawal' on my Dec 2016 exam bc on the morning of the exam I woke up & my watch decided to stop working. Perfect. So, yea, don't want that to happen again next Saturday. Just wanted to get people's thoughts on good/decent watch brands to go for that will definitely not mess-up. Planning to order from Amazon Prime this week. Also not spending $50+ for the 180 watch.

I'll note: the watch I do have for everyday use is a J.Crew / Timex military watch (https://shop.r10s.jp/endless-trip/cabinet/03766270/03766275/img63799930.jpg) and I'll probably use that on test day if no one has strong feelings about a certain type of watch to get. My only hesitation is that occasionally (rarely) I'll find that the time has accidentally changed (i.e. hours ahead/behind, randomly), and I'm not sure how that's even possible. I'm guessing if I'm not wearing the watch & it's sitting on the desk on test day there shouldn't be any problems, right? [I'm also now realizing that I've been exclusively using the 7sage proctor watch for my PTs and I should start using/trying out this watch before test day!!]

Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!
