I'm not sure if any of you have this trouble but I seem to be missing quite a few more questions (2-3) on the first LR section than the second. This is especially prevalent when LR is the first section of the exam. Any suggestions to remedy this?

LG problems - In/Out Games

Hey everyone!

LG is generally my strength, but when it comes to In/Out games I absolutely bomb them every time (time-and strategy/diagramming-wise).

What have some of you done to improve on In/Out games to improve your accuracy and timing? Just doing certain games over and over again (basically fool-proof method?). I feel like I try to do that, but in the end I just memorize the answers and I don't get anything out of it after a while.

Would love to get your input!

I am the sole owner of a residential property of which I am the landlord.. do I somehow include this on my resume? I am considering it in terms of 1) it's a job sort of, as I do profit off of it, 2) i've been doing it for a few years so it is part of what has kept me busy which adds to what I have been busy doing while completing my undergrad, working full-time, and being a single mother, so I think it adds to the evidence that I am able to balance a multitude of tasks successfully, and 3) shows leadership and management skills (maybe?). I have my resume pretty complete but this actually just crossed my mind today. Should I somehow address it on my resume? At the very bottom under skills and interests?

or

How is the group 3 or inclusive?? Doesn't negating one element make it exclusive?

For example Jon or Tommy will go to lunch is translated as:

/J -> T

/T -> J

Doesn't that make it so we can only choose one at the expense of the other making it exclusive?

7Sage Mozilla Problem?

Am I the only one having problems logging into 7Sage from Mozilla? I even changed my password because it would not let me log in.

It works fine on internet explorer, but I use Mozilla for everything and would prefer to use 7Sage on there.

Soft Factors?

So I'm curious what everyone believes are soft factors that help with getting accepted into law school. I had built my undergraduate life under the impression I would be attaining an MSW not a JD and this decision happened rather spontaneously within the last few months, as you can deduce I have not done too much research on getting accepted and would truly appreciate help here (specifically pertaining to the 'Soft factors'). I'm a triple major (does this even matter for law?), I have presented my research at two conferences, published in a criminology journal (first name publication), received grants and fellowships, have held a steady job as a mental health professional aid for two years, and several other involvements/memberships in clubs, internships, etc. I have absolutely no clue if any of this matters? What soft factors are they looking for?

I was just doing an RC section (Particularly PT 68) and got to the last passage with a little more than 5minutes left on the clock. At this moment I wasn't sure what the best way to maximize my remaining time was.

Would one advise just reading the passage as quickly as you can and trying to answer what you can with whatever time is left after the reading?

Or

Is it more productive to go straight to the questions and try to target your reading. (I was lucky that this particular passage had a lot of line reference questions, but would the strategy be the same if this weren't the case?)

I wonder what you all think?

Burnout

The burnout is real, just did a 142 on PT June 2008. Ive been a member of 7sage for over a year, taken a ton of PTs, averaging in the 163-168 area. Ive tried to take it slow but I just bombed the holy f#@* out of this one for some reason. Oh well. Im going to take a few days off before my senior year starts and have some beers, clean my car, and listen to my favorite band Avenged Sevenfold.

Anyone else find the the reading comprehension and logic games on this test were significantly easier than others but that the logical reasoning was more difficult? I scored significantly lower on this practice test and I have been scoring on others. I have been averaging around 163 but I only got 160 on this practice test

Videos not working

I keep getting the message "video not found or access denied".

It was working fine till yesterday, I've restarted my computer, deleted cookies, and tried changing the settings to flash player.

Is it just me?

  • Note: For the purposes of the call, we like to check our group blind review score together at the very end of the call :) So at least don't say ... "No guys, really, it's D, I checked it.” KEEP THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOURSELF. Win the argument with your reasoning.
  • These groups work best when folks from ALL stages of prep and with all different goals join in! Not just for "super-preppers" and definitely not just for the casual LSATer (does such a person exist?).
  • The only expectation anyone has for these calls is for you to have fun and ask questions as you desire. We are just a bunch of LSAT lovers who gather via GoToMeeting and intellectually slaughter each test.

    The "/A->B" rule is so important for grouping games that PowerScore uses a special symbol ("A(-|-)B", or "the double-not arrow") to note it. As a person who understands how important this is for grouping games, I think the "double-not arrow" is brilliant. As a person who has tried to explain it to others, it is both frustrating and confusing. The "double not arrow" is ONLY used when the sufficient term is negative and the necessary term is positive--or is it the opposite? It makes a huge difference, but I find it almost impossible to keep it straight in my head, much less explain it to someone else. For that reason, I think JY is wise to avoid using it here at 7Sage.

    But what if it were not confusing? I have come up with TWO arrows that practically write themselves and make grouping games much easier. All you have to do is look at the way we write out "/A->B" and "A->/B."

    Note how the slash comes first in the "/A->B" situation, but comes second in the "A->/B" case. Let's turn those slashes into pictures. If we put the forward slash first, we can make a "/\" picture. If we put it second, we get a "\/" picture.

    /A->B turns into A(-/\-)B

    A->/B turns into A(-\/-)B

    Pictures are helpful if they mean something, so let's call the "/\" picture an "erupting volcano." The "erupting volcano arrow" means that something is erupting, so that something must be in your slot. The "\/" looks like a "leaky funnel," which means something is leaking, which means something must be OUT.

    If you can remember that "slash comes first" means "/\," and "/\" means "erupting volcano," and "erupting volcano" means something must be in, you can turn a "/A->B" rule into a full slot within seconds. And if you can remember what a "leaky funnel" does, you'll fill an out slot just as fast.

    And there's no reason to ever get them mixed up!

    This is one of those.. had I known back then.. stories. I spent 2 years at a "nationally" accredited college.. not regionally accredited, aka diploma mill or what have you.. I did earn an associate degree (paralegal studies). It was right out of high school, I actually had no idea at the time that my credits were not going to transfer to a 4 year university.. nor did I realize the harm I was doing to myself by going to this school (first generation college student, parents were proud, understandably, that I was actually pursuing college given my unattractive behavior during high school years). I did get a good job afterward and still work as a paralegal so I mean, it could've been worse, I think. Any way, still not giving up on the law school goal, I started over essentially, and 3 years later I am nearly done with a bachelor degree. I do know the LSAC requires the transcript from that school, so I am wondering will the credential assembly services be calculating in the grades from a school that is not regionally accredited? I did call the LSAC and the lady did not really understand my question, put me on hold then came back and said she thinks so but doesn't see why they wouldn't. ??? Anyone have an idea? I know that grad schools will not factor in that GPA. In using the 7sage UGPA calculator, the 2 year school actually boosts my GPA so I am kind of hoping they do count it.. but not sure??

    When should I make my Credential Assembly Service account? I am taking the September LSAT but may retake in December if I don't get a good LSAT.

    Specialty Law Program Rankings

    I just thought I would throw this question out to the community in hopes of getting a question answered. I am currently planning on studying health care law. Does anyone know how much the ranking of a specialty law program matters in terms of future employment? I have seen few answers online regarding the topic and I have seen even less evidence to back up opinions.

    PTB.S2.G2 - trees in the forest

    https://classic.7sage.com/lsat_explanations/lsat-b-section-2-game-2/

    I have some questions about the proper diagram and meaning of a rule in this in/out game.

    Rule 3: "If Yews are not in the park, then either L or O, but not both, are in the park."

    - Could someone explain about how to properly diagram this rule (ideally in notation that does NOT involve biconditionals)? I diagrammed it as 2 separate rules (shown below), but I think it only confused me more...

    /Y --> L or O (representing 'either/or')

    /Y --> /L and /O (representing 'not both')

    - If I'm understanding the meaning of this rule correctly, does the contrapositive of this rule basically mean/state that "if both L & O are in the park, then Y is in the park." ? Does the contrapositive of this rule also include "if both L & O are OUT, then Y is IN"?

    TIA!

    I'm just curious as to if getting a high school physics professor to write a LOR for me would hurt my application.. He's been a close mentor throughout my years in Undergrad and through my professional career and knows me much better than my college professors. He's a very respected and knowledgeable individual, but I fear that because he works at a HS instead of University it might not hold as much weight. I couldn't find anything on TLS after searching so I thought I would ask here before starting a post over there.

    For what it's worth I also plan on including 2 of my University professor's as LOR's as well.. just stuck between my HS Physics teacher and a supervisor at my engineering company as number 3.

    I just recently exhausted all of the games from the LG bundle and went back through the one's that gave me issues up to 5 to 6X over, re-doing them again and again/referring to the video breakdown, until I felt I had the hang of it. All of this has taken a couple months of LG-exclusive focus. I've improved and although not perfect, I think I'm at a point where I can move into the next phase. The plan is to take a few days to revisit my notes on LR/RC from the CC in an effort to refresh myself after time spent essentially in LG boot camp.

    I feel the next step should be to either take LR sections from the older PTs or begin full PTs from 36 and up. I'm aware that opinions vary regarding drilling LR by complete sections or by specific question types. For those who have done both, has one helped your improvement more?

    Also, is drilling LR sections and question types before or after beginning full PT phase more a preference or are there strong reasons to do one before/after?

    Sub-170 score on PT 76

    Man, I got my first sub-170 PT score in months and I'm feeling really defeated. Did anyone else find the first LR section to be extremely difficult? I haven't missed more than 3 questions in an LR section since I started studying again in June. Am I going crazy? BLEGHHHHHHHHH

    September or December? (urgent)

    I have been studying since June and I am now seeing some big score improvements.

    The problem is that I go back to school in early September and whilst I was planning on taking the December exam, I am afraid that I won't be able to devote much time for the LSAT during the school year. I am afraid of actually becoming worse at the LSAT because I won't be able to devote much time for the test.

    The deadline for late registration for the Sep exam is tomorrow :( (eek)

    Should I study hard during the next month and take the September LSAT or postpone till December or February? Or try my best to study for the LSAT during the shcool year and take a shot at the December exam?

    Any advice will be deeply appreciated!

    thank you!

    7sagers in school/working/parenting, how do you balance all of your responsibilities with your studies? I just started school again this week and I already feel like I'm drowning. With 30 days until the LSAT, I'm scoring above my goal. But, I'm still worried about having enough time to complete all four logic games. Agh! Give me some experience, strength, and hope, please.

    Regarding Add-Ons

    Hello,

    I'm considering purchasing add-ons. I discovered 7sage pretty late, and I'm already a year into my studies and will be taking the September 2016 test. I'm scoring in the mid to high 160s. I feel that I have a solid grasp of the concepts and I just want to iron out my wrinkles. I've already watched tons of 7sage LG videos on YouTube, read several prep books including the LSAT Trainer, and browsed a lot of forums.

    That being said, I'm now working on the PTs in the 70s+. I'm hesitant to purchase 7sage's full packages because they're pricey and so I'm considering purchasing just the individual add-ons from 72 to 78.

    - Am I allowed to purchase add ons without purchasing any of the main packages?

    - If I do purchase just the add-ons, do I also get access to the basic tutorials (in case I need to reference some terminology in the individual explanation video)?

    - Can I purchase one add-on at first, and then purchase the rest later if I feel that they're worth the money? Would this extend the duration in which I can view the add-ons or does my counter start over for the subsequent purchases?

    Lastly, I'm interested to hear what everyone's thoughts are on the add-on explanations and whether you think they're worth it.

    Thanks.
