I have a question in terms of dissecting the conclusion-premise structure of the stimulus.

So here is my question in relation to identifying/dissecting the premise-conclusion of this stimulus.

To me it seems that the author is providing his/her own explanation of weight and surface area in explaining the observation of squirrels and larger animals.

In that sense it seems much more logical to regard the entire observation of squirrels and large animals as the premise part and to consider the author's explanation as conclusion. I think it is much more natural to see the whole argument originating from one observation and reaching a particular conclusion that the author deems logical/plausible explanation.

Therefore I believe that it is better to put the stimulus as

Premise : Small animals run up a tree trunk fast while large animals slow down upon running uphill.

-->

Conclusion : Weight proportional to energy output and surface area to energy output

I would be more than glad if you could clarify on this.

Thanks in advance and excuse me for English not being my first language.

@pseudonymous made this look REALLY easy. If you find any errors I will make you a custom meme or avatar of your choice.

@"Al [^-^d]" @blah170blah @"Dillon A. Wright" @jdawg113 @emli1000 @"Nilesh S" @pseudonymous

Seven Sagers—Al, Blah, Dillon, Emli, JDawg, Nilesh, and Pseudonymous—have gathered in a library for a free tutoring session Dillon has offered (to make up for the chaos resulting from a certain scheduling disaster). They will sit, each in one of eight chairs, around a circular table. Any two of them are said to be sitting directly across from one another if and only if there are exactly three chairs between them, counting in either direction of the table, whether the chairs are occupied or not. The following conditions apply:

Al sits directly across from Emli.

Dillon can only sit next to one other person (on his right side) because “[his] coffee needs a seat” (srsly?).

JDawg sits immediately next to neither Al nor Nilesh.

1. Which one of the following could be the order in which four of the Sagers are seated, with no one else seated between them, counting clockwise around the table?

a. JDawg, Dillon, Dillon’s Coffee, Nilesh

b. Emli, Pseudonymous, Nilesh, Al

c. Dillon, Blah, Nilesh, Emli

d. Pseudonymous, JDawg, Nilesh, Al

e. Dillon’s Coffee, Al, Pseudonymous, Blah

2. If Emli sits between Dillon and JDawg, then which one of the following could be the two people each of whom sits immediately next to Pseudonymous?

a. JDawg and Nilesh

b. Al and Nilesh

c. Al and Dillon

d. JDawg and Dillon’s Coffee

e. Nilesh and Blah

3. If Emli does not sit immediately next to Jdawg, then which one of the following could be the two people each of whom sits immediately next to Blah?

a. Al and Pseudonymous

b. Emli and Nilesh

c. Emli and Pseudonymous

d. Al and JDawg

e. JDawg and Pseudonymous

4. If Nilesh sits directly across from Dillon’s Coffee, then each of the following people could sit immediately next to Dillon EXCEPT:

a. Al

b. Emli

c. JDawg

d. Blah

e. Pseudonymous

5. If Nilesh sits directly across from JDawg, then what is the minimum possible number of seats (occupied or not) between Emli and Nilesh, counting clockwise from Emli to Nilesh?

a. Zero

b. One

c. Two

d. Three

e. Four

Okay, So I have watched all of JY Videos on Parallel Flaw but keep missing the correct answer. I feel like my challenge has been correct diagraming ? But when I get that right, its something else :(

Do any of you guys have advice when it comes to approaching these questions? Any steps that should be followed? Where can I do more parallel flaw questions and learn more about these little monsters .

I never realized how annoying it was to hear someone cut my grass while I took a PT. I was in the first section of my PT and on question number 14 when I was disturbed by the lawn mower noise. It was a challenge but I managed not to pause my PT :) hopefully that won't affect my score.

Now that I'm 23 tests into the LG Bundle, I have amassed over 300 games in my "To be foolproofed" file, having already completed over 100 games already. To people who have completed this process, how long did it take you to finish? This is nuts and I'm only making 5 copies of each game (instead of the prescribed 10. I would have killed a tree otherwise). My goodness! I feel like I'll be foolproof-ing until 2016!

Hi everyone,

I felt I benefited from the last group Skype BR, and would like to do this more. Saturdays don't always work for me, though. Would anyone be interested in BRing a PT over Skype on another day, during the week? I'm flexible as to which PT, since there are lot I haven't seen and am also fine with retaking. Let me know!

Hello again. Me and my drilling questions. I'm preparing for an October retake, but may postpone until December. I have been working through the Ultimate course and I am moving along quite nicely. I'm about 25% through the ultimate course. I'm reviewing PowerScore and The Trainer as needed, which is sparingly. I'm considering purchasing the Manhattan LR guide but we'll see. Anyway, at the current rate I'm expecting to finish the course around mid-May but I am hoping for end of April. My question involves the Cambridge packets. I have the LR bundle organized by question type and the RC packets and the LG bundle through the Ultimate course. I feel like this is a stupid question. Should I be working on the packets as I work through the course or should I wait until the PT stage when I have a firmer handle on my problem areas? Should I do them during both PT and Course stages? I'm working on the practice sets for question types throughout the curriculum but I'm not sure if and how much I should be adding. I'm also concerned with my memory. I have a tendency to remember answer choices for some questions and then the good reason I am getting the correct answer is lost. I'm not reviewing heavily right now for the reason if I have to revisit it later I won't remember the correct answer. PT 73 Section 2 Question 8 I remember the answer but have no memory of what type of question it is, why the answer is right, or the topic but I remember the multiple choice answer. That was my first time I took the LSAT and time ran out as I arrived at the right answer, did not have time to change it. I remember answers of other questions that I have reviewed thoroughly. I would hate to work through an entire question set now and still have issues at the PT stage, need to review question types but remember the answer but not remember why the correct answer is right. I feel like doing them now may waste precious practice questions. On the other hand, I also have PTs to work through that will help get my skill set in the right place. I'm a little lost on how and when to incorporate the Cambridge packets into my studies. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I am currently registered for the June 2015 LSAT. This is my second shot after getting in the mid-160s a couple of years ago. Prep method at the time was some Powerscore skimming, a few PTs, and lots and lots of liquor. I finished the Ultimate curricular lessons a few weeks ago and have started doing the PTs.

I work full time and probably won't be able to take more than half of the PTs in the curriculum. I also purchased the most recent ones that are not included in the package. I was thinking about taking the even or odd numbered ones only (i.e. 42, 44, 46,...72, 74) for the June test for a couple of reasons: making sure I get some practice on the more recent (and relevant) PTs, but also leaving some in the hopper and keeping them "pristine" in case I want to give it another go in October.

I am hitting the 170s using the proctor app and 180 for Blind Review. But, hey, I can always screw up on test day, right? The data in the control group is too small right now to make assumptions anyway. Feel pretty good where I am though.

Thoughts? Should I just burn through in sequence or just focus on doing half the PTs? There are specific reasons I have to take the test in June that I don't want to delve into, but I will if asked. Just try to refrain from the "don't take it in June and just wait until October/December" advice if you can.

Liquor is still a part of my prep, but JY says I have to give it up 2 months out. Which is a week from today. FML.

hey guys,

This is a question for you folks who have been through most of the lessons.

I have been working through the syllabus and i am currently on the weakening questions. I did pretty well with the MP questions but i have been hitting and missing with the weakening questions and it brought my confidence way down. Have any of you guys experienced this with some lessons? i have been trying to implement JYs explanations on how to do weakening questions and reviewed those lessons and still have been pretty inconsistant. what do you think i should do to get better? tips? thoughts? really getting worried about doing the lsat

Thanks guys

I don't know much about this , but someone told me it would be nice to look at. So apparently there are many law school consultants that would review your personal statement etc.. and help prepare your application. After some research, I realized most charge for a "package". Like you need to pay $750 , ( it is required) for the first 3 hours etc... There are many many of them out there...

Has anyone here worked with a law school consultant? Do you recommended them ? I know there are several of them out there. But I personally feel like the prices they charge students are ridiculous ! Does anyone know where one can seek help with personal statements ? I am first person in my family to attend college, so don't really have many people to look at my essay.

Thanks :)

I've done 5 PT's and still scoring in the 143-146 range. I finished all of the course work and it just doesn't seem to help. I always think I do well on the LR but i'm always way off. Anyone else feel this before? The June LSAT is starting to look too close to raise my score.

0

Hi everyone! :)

I've been really wary about taking the June LSAT mostly because I started the Ultimate Course in January and although I feel better about attacking the questions, I haven't been able to score much higher than a 158 (after about 3 practice tests). However, I took PT38 last weekend and scored a 164 and 169 with BR. This is shocking because in the over 2 years that I've been semi-studying for the LSAT, I've never been able to break 160!

So naturally, I was excited but cautious (even Googled whether PT38 was easier than the rest lol!). Just last week, I had thought about pushing back the test to October but now I'm thinking maybe I can do June.

I guess what I'm wondering is this: Have any of you gone up so suddenly in scores? If so, were you able to maintain this score increase or was that kind of the maximum score you reached?

Thanks!

I'm looking for a study buddy. I'm strong in LG, weak in RC, and average in LR. My LG ranges -0/-2 and RC is about -6 and worse on the new PTs. i have an lsat score in mid 160s. Someone interested in analyzing the questions, particularly those where the credited answer can be challenging to justify to oneself, can be a fit. If interested, please message me and we can skype.

I have problems with finishing RC on time. My problem is mainly on "detail except" and inference questions. I feel like when i try to read slowly (4 minutes upfront) I do well on structure and author attitude questions but still spend too much time on detail questions and get them wrong. If i read too fast (less 3 minute), then i still miss although i spend more time on those questions. Does anyone have any similar problem? I've been in the U.S for 6 years but still struggle with reading sometimes.

My reading comprehension is improving slowly. I've just started reading more for the past 2 years. My average RC is -6 or -7 (best -4 and worst -12). I have problems with deciphering detail sentences and usually misunderstand them. Recently, I am trying to re-reading technique by Graeme Blake ( I actually re-read sentences and the whole passage in about 3-4 minutes until i can summarize each paragraph and sentence), but my rc has not improved. It seems like i tend to forget these little summaries as I answer the questions. Does anyone have any specific or general tips on RC? I would like to hear success stories from non-native speakers who scored well on this test. Thanks

For every video where JY goes through different questions, in the lessons on the syllabus, I can get the answers correct from pausing the video at the beginning. Yet when I take PT's I am missing over half of them. Are the problems he uses in instructional video's "easier" or did he pick easier ones out for the video's? Or is it that I need to practice test taking more under timed conditions. Thoughts?

I consider myself to be a super-prepper. I started in December and since then have prepped at least 20 hours a week, and done probably 40+ preptests and 50+ individual sections. In that time I have noticed no less than three changes in myself:

1) I have started to speak very precisely (no less than in sentence above for example, or extreme precision in some, most, all, etc)

2) I am thinking about the precision in other people's language more, and frequently asking myself things (for example, if so, then what else has to be true?)

3) I feel that I am seeing patterns more, for example if someone tells me their schedule the LG circuits go off in my mind.

4) I reread things a lot more often, if there is even a tiny bit that I do not get

Anybody else have things like this? It is simultaneously annoying and awesome!

RC drills

I have the 4 packets on Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Law available on Cambridge and I was wanting some input on whether or not I'm actually doing this right.

Every day I make a packet of 4 (including 1 of Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Law) and I give myself about 25 mins to answer each passage. Of course, it's a lot of time but later when I get halfway through I will only give myself 10 mins per passage and then cut my time to around 7-8 mins on each.

I really struggle with RC mainly because the passages lose my interest and it's hard getting the hang of why I'm actually reading a passage for lol. Terrible, I know. But I am working on it and BR helps a lot. I usually miss 4 or less on every packet after BR. After I review my answers and why they're wrong I understand why my reasoning behind each question was wrong.

But I was wondering if doing 4 per day 1 of Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Law was the right way of doing it since I will have 4 passages on the LSAT day and I'm guessing I'll have 1 of each. Or should I focus on maybe doing 4 Humanities on Monday, 4 Social Sciences on Tuesday, 4 Natural Sciences on Wednesday and 4 Laws on Thursday? So that i can see if I will find a pattern in each of the four types?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Conclusion: Hans purple was probably created by accident while someone was trying to make white glass.

Reasoning: Hans purple uses the same chemical ingredients and a similar process as making white glass.

When I first came across this question, my eyes immediately made their way to answer choice D. D states that the ingredients involved in making Hans purple and white glass were easily obtainable during the relevant time period. I reasoned that if the ingredients were easily obtainable, then people may be less cautious, and thus, an accident is more likely to occur. I guess I was just focused on the word, "accident".

But A is correct because it ties the two creations geographically. I understand this is a "hidden assumption"--if Hans purple was made on accident while someone was trying to make white glass, then it helps if the two come from the same place.

How did you guys fare on this question? Did you spot the problem immediately? I was also thrown off by the phrase, "small geographical region" in answer choice A. I thought to myself, "Who cares if it's a small region? Irrelevant."

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone else here has, either currently or in the past, found themselves scoring high on the Logical Reasoning sections but consistently low on the Reading Comprehension sections? I've previously scored as low as -0 on both sections of Logical Reasoning, yet I have not managed to consistently improve my score on reading comp beyond the -6 to -3 range. I also find myself short of time on reading comp far more often than on other sections. As a side note, I also find my blind review of reading comp sections to be less helpful than on LR sections.

A Game A Day

… keeps the, um, mental atrophy away? :-P

I’m on the verge of completing my Sequencing Games training, and because I (s)have no life(/s) am super ultra cool, I made up my own logic game. Take that, LSAC!

I would be so flattered if you will solve this. I think it’s pretty easy (LOL creator bias? It’s nice being on this end), so maybe 5-6ish minutes to solve? Actually, I have no idea.

And now, tongue firmly in cheek, I present to you the following game:

Having scored 175+ on their LSATs, seven smart cookies – @amanda_kw, @blah170blah, @christopherblair, @DumbHollywoodActor, @emli1000, @"Fritz A W", and @nicole.hopkins – were hired by 7Sage to be online tutors for select new members. There is one tutor for each day of the week (running from Monday to Sunday), and each tutor is assigned exactly once. Dillon A. Wright must create a schedule according to the following conditions:

Blah170blah can only tutor on Saturday or Sunday.

Amanda_kw and Emli1000 must tutor before Nicole.hopkins does.

Fritz A W must tutor the day after Nicole.hopkins.

Christopherblair tutors before Emli1000.

Dillon carefully crafted a schedule according to everyone’s stipulations and availabilities, only to be grilled by JY and Alan with the following questions:

1. Which one of the following could be a possible tutoring schedule?

(A) Monday: DumbHollywoodActor; Tuesday: Christopherblair; Wednesday: Amanda_kw; Thursday: Emli1000; Friday: Nicole.hopkins; Saturday: Fritz A W; Sunday: Blah170blah

(B) Monday: DumbHollywoodActor; Tuesday: Fritz A W; Wednesday: Amanda_kw; Thursday: Emli1000; Friday: Christopherblair; Saturday: Nicole.hopkins; Sunday: Blah170blah

(C) Monday: Emli1000; Tuesday: Christopherblair; Wednesday: Amanda_kw; Thursday: Nicole.hopkins; Friday: Fritz A W; Saturday: DumbHollywoodActor; Sunday: Blah170blah

(D) Monday: Amanda_kw; Tuesday: Emli1000; Wednesday: Christopherblair; Thursday: Nicole.hopkins; Friday: Fritz A W; Saturday: DumbHollywoodActor; Sunday: Blah170blah

(E) Monday: Amanda_kw; Tuesday: Christopherblair; Wednesday: Emli1000; Thursday: Blah170blah; Friday: Nicole.hopkins; Saturday: Fritz A W; Sunday: DumbhollywoodActor

2. Which of the following is a complete and accurate list of possible tutor(s) for Saturday?

(A) Blah170blah

(B) DumbHollywoodActor

(C) Blah170blah and Fritz A W

(D) Blah170blah, Fritz A W, and Nicole.hopkins

(E) Blah170blah, DumbHollywoodActor, and Fritz A W

3. If Amanda_kw tutors on Wednesday, how many options does Dillon have for scheduling DumbHollywoodActor?

(A) Two

(B) Three

(C) Four

(D) Five

(E) Six

4. Which of the following days can Nicole.hopkins tutor?

(A) Monday

(B) Wednesday

(C) Thursday

(D) Saturday

(E) Sunday

5. JY and Alan decide that Christopherblair having to tutor before Emli1000 is a silly stipulation. They fire Christopherblair, and Jonathan Wang must step in to fill the gap. However, Jonathan has some stipulations too. Assuming that the remaining rules still hold, which of the following demands could Jonathan make, such that the number of possible schedules created by poor Dillon remains unchanged?

(A) He tutors on Thursday only.

(B) He tutors before Nicole.hopkins and after Amanda_kw.

(C) He tutors before Fritz A W.

(D) He does not tutor on Saturday, and only tutors on Sunday if Emli1000 tutors on Tuesday.

(E) He tutors after Nicole.hopkins but before Blah170blah.

Let me know if I missed something and accidentally gave you an unsolvable game. Pretty sure I didn’t, but I often have too high an opinion of my abilities…

P.S. It would be so sweet if we could make A Game A Day ™, like, an actual thing. If anyone else wants to give this a try, I promise you it was surprisingly fun!
