Hi,

I've seen a few message boards concerning group chats. However, it's not clear whether these message boards are translating to real groups being formed. I'll offer to start a discord group for anybody that is aiming to take the LSAT in September and or October, as I am.

My user is @dcforrapii

Send me a message, and I'll start it up :)

Hi everyone,

My average PT score right now is 168.5 (highest was a 175) with my recent scores in the 169-173 range; my BRs are consistently in the low-mid 170s. My GPA is 3.79 (it's lower than my actual GPA cuz I went to a quarter-system school: kill me).

I have not started writing any essays and I want to apply this fall. Is it worth it to get any kind of admissions consulting? I'm paying out of pocket and there are so many free resources available, so I'm doubting the value of paid consulting. But I also want to produce the best possible application. What do y'all think?

Secondly, I would love to study for the September/October with some peers based in the Bay or the Pacific Time Zone. If you live around the Fremont or Milpitas area, let me know and we can study in-person at a library or coffee shop. If not, I'm happy to use Zoom!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I'm pretty set on putting in applications for this application cycle, but know there is a possibility I would want to defer or re-apply during a later cycle so that I can continue to pursue other goals. I'm wondering how declining admission to a school (T14) would impact a later application. I have heard that declining admission if you got off the waitlist looks very bad. Are deferrals ever granted for 2+ years? How soon after receiving an admissions offer does one have to make their decision?

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

I would appreciate it if you could provide insight into some potential questions I have received from various applicants with similar/repeated questions. Here they are:

If an applicant has gone to 3 academic institutions: two in US/Canada and one outside US/Canada, will all 3 transcripts be included in LSAC's GPA? It's worth noting that one institution attended outside US/Canada had a 4.0 GPA grading scale with a US/Canadian-based curriculum.

A course was taken twice/repeated. The transcript shows both grades along with course credit however the 1st attempt is marked as an "extra" course meaning while it does have a credit shown, its credit value is equivalently 0 as it does not count towards the institution's cGPA calculation. Hence, would the 1st attempt need to be mentioned/ will count towards LSAC's GPA calculation?

Would meeting a law school's 75th percentile GPA allow you to get in if you meet its 25th percentile LSAT score? Kinda like a reverse splitter per se.

Thank you :)

I am looking to have a virtual study group for at least 2 hours tomorrow. Game plan is to work on a set of questions slowly and thoroughly, and then test what we learned with a drill set. Focus will be flaw and weaken questions!

Looking for a small group of 2-3 people, 2-4pm EST.

Happy Labour Day yall.

I find that in some strengthen/weaken questions, the right answers are some "other consideration" that influence the conclusion, but are irrelevant to premise. Consider this weaken question:

This phenomenon is also common in "shield" type of NA question. The answers are something that is not talked in the stimulus.

In these case, can we say that, we are not strengthen/weaken the support that premise giving to conclusion, but strengthen/weaken the conclusion independently?

Well with the Nov test scores out, I finally have my stats and am ready to start applying.

2.47 CAS GPA

168 LSAT

7+ years WE with upward mobility

T3 softs

Pretty decent professional LOR

I don’t have any real geographic constraints (though my local regional school is my target.) Looking for splitter friendly schools and those likely to give scholarships to someone with my background. Thanks for any help!

Hi all,

So I currently I have my law school search narrowed down to 3. Indiana, Illinois, and Chicago-Kent. I've visited Kent and Indiana (both are awesome and visiting UofI end of March). I want to work for a larger firm 100+ attorneys. I've noticed that these schools place similar numbers of students into these size firms--looking at LST reports from 2017. I know that Illinois and Indiana place better in larger firms but that is considering the entire graduating class--- JD required positions and non--JD required. When you limit the population to JD required positions only the difference between the 3 for employment at firms with 100+ attorneys is not that great. My question is do you think it is safe to think about employment in this way? I know the assumption is that I would pass the bar and become a practicing attorney but at the same time I wonder how much of the high numbers in non-jd positions at Kent is do to selection?

Thanks for any input advance

Does anyone have an example for this? Don't even know how to start a second LOCI. Do I reference my first LOCI in it? Any advice would be appreciated on how to even frame such a letter. I am waitlisted at my top school and recently found out about a program very unique to this school that I believe would be helpful to my career. Would mentioning it now (in a second letter) be odd? I don't want to come off like I didn't do my research before but the info on this program was just not where I was looking before.

For law school applications (and future bar admission), how should I go about what jobs I include? I started working at 17, and my first job I was at for really around 4 years, but I quit a couple times and came back, always on good terms and it was a normal thing at that job. There were some jobs after age 18 where I was at for one day, a couple of weeks, or just one week before realizing it wouldn't be a good fit, and I'd find other options. All retail and service jobs, and these short jobs were always outweighed by other jobs that were great experiences. I would just hate to get through law school only to get struck down by the bar for a resume issue.

Hi guys! I wanted to get some feedback on this RC question.

The prompt asks for the main idea and the right answer is that 'the views of ecologists and economic growth advocates have only recently become polarized.'

To me, that phrase implies that the passage is about recency. It implies that the passage is primarily dedicated towards explaining a long history of no polarization that has but little time ago turned into a polarized dichotomy.

I agree that the passage accomplishes this, but to me, this accomplishment was used as a template for the author rather than his/her explicit, or even primary purpose.

I detected notes of author view, such as in line 11 when he describes the recent polarization as "sad." On top of that, the way the author describes both sides seems to indicate that he favors the previous attitudes towards the issue, consistent with what Marsh and the Enlightenment thinkers believe. I almost got a sense of sarcasm in how he described the implications of Clements' equilibrium model. The author claims that the model became a "mystique," environmental interference was "taboo," wilderness was "adored." These descriptions made me believe that the author saw followers of this mentality to be radical, cult-like, trendy, and perhaps a form of the "tree-hugger" stereotype.

Back to the first paragraph, the final sentence talks about how the "sad effects" make it "difficult for industry to respond to impact analyses that demand action." This came across as having sympathy for contemporary industries, being pinned down in this polarized climate where (as we would later read) before they could act in harmony with environmentalists and have productive conversations based in compromise and understanding.

With all of that in mind, I was very quick to eliminate D, an answer choice with no reflection of the author's argument/bias, and way too much (in fact, pretty much 100%) emphasis on the mere fact that such a change is recent. Who cares if it's recent? You didn't need to give your opinion and write four paragraphs only to tell us that this polarization is recent. You could easily switch the dates mentioned in the passage, and the meaning would barely change. It would just be polarized ----> not polarized instead of not polarized ----> polarized.

I picked E because I thought it captured the author's sentiment and reflected an idea that the entire passage built to establish. A lot of the passage's content contributes to that idea, while only a few small distinctions affirm that the change happened to be recent.

I have been studying for a while. My highest on a practice test is 163 and I've gotten 160 a couple of times. However, my blind review highest scores have been 169 and 171. The reading comp is the defining factor at times. Should I wait to take the lsat in Jan or do I just take it next month. Im signed up for both. additionally, what are some strategies you use during reading comprehension. I want to continue scoring higher but sometimes I get 18/19 and at other times 13/14. The next lsat is closely approaching.

Still feeling super iffy about taking the June LSAT. Can anyone confirm when is the last possible chance to withdraw from this test? LSAC says "June 8th 2014", so is it safe to withdraw on that day anytime before 11:59??

Thanks!
