Hello, I am currently scoring 161 and have tried to join study groups in the past but unfortunately, they have become inactive or study at different times than I do. I study in the evenings east coast time starting at 4 pm ET to nighttime. Is there anyone else who would like to study together in the evenings and keep each other accountable? We could do it over zoom, discord or even WhatsApp. If anyone is interested, please DM me.

Hey everyone,

Hope everyone's grey day went well! Although I appreciate getting the score before the holidays, that does mean that I have less time to work on some of the school specific optional essays. I'm wondering if anyone would want to team up over these next couple of weeks and work on editing each other's optional essays/keep each other on track? It would probably work best if they were the same schools & I'll be working on essays for most of the T-14 over the next couple weeks.

Let me know if this sounds interesting to you!

WV resident looking for someone to meet up with to study in person occasionally. Located in north central WV but willing to meet up within a reasonable driving distance.

Currently about 2 months into pretty relaxed studying but looking to create more structure/accountability.

If this sounds interesting reach out whenever!

June BR Group Schedule: http://classic.7sage.com/discussion/#/discussion/6171/june-test-takers-group-br-schedule-updated

NOTE: I front-loaded the PT 70 - 75 because I believe that people need to get eyes on 70s sooner rather than later. We’ll still have PT 76 and 77 available to PT in May. Trust me when I say it is worth it to do these tests twice. And if you don’t feel comfortable hitting the 70s yet, don’t worry. We’re going to repeat this cycle of PT 70-75 at the end of February just in case.

Please click the link and comment if you plan on participating.

Note:

  • For everyone: take the PT under timed conditions; BR as you are able on your own; then join us for all or part of the call—everyone is welcome.
  • Note: For the purposes of the call, we like to check our group blind review score together at the very end of the call :) So at least don't say ... "No guys, really, it's D, I checked it.” KEEP THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOURSELF. Win the argument with your reasoning.
  • These groups work best when folks from ALL stages of prep and with all different goals join in! Not just for "super-preppers" and definitely not just for the casual LSATer (does such a person exist?).
  • The only expectation anyone has for these calls is for you to have fun and ask questions as you desire. We are just a bunch of LSAT lovers who gather via GoToMeeting and intellectually slaughter each test.

    hello,

I took the diagnostic test, but I realized that I couldn't understand the passage.. What can I do to understand/comprehend?

Any suggestions or tips on maintaining the energy level during test (outside of doing more full test)? I find the first section I am great then something breaks midway through the second section. Thanks in advance.

I am confused by question 8. I was down to C and E, ultimately chose E, but only due to pure luck.

I don't know why C is supported but E is not.

The potential support for C is in line 23, where it says "one problem in studying the effects of drilling waste discharges..." But it just says there is a problem in studying. It doesn't say that the study is done. Perhaps the study wasn't done due to the problem. Who knows? Another potential support is just the whole second and third paragraphs of Passage B. They tell us that WBM is less harmful than OBM to the environment. That potentially implies that a study was done?

The potential support for E is in line 32, where it says that Drilling mud is normally released during the drilling phase of a well's existence. We know that the mud is discharged, although we don't know if it is continuously discharged into the sea.

To me, C and E both have weak support. I don't know why C is more supported than E.

If this is not the hardest question on the set, I don't know which is. I had a great time trying to understand this question and why C is correct and spent an hour just scratching my head trying to figure it out. Would still love to see what everyone thinks about this question. But so far I don't see that many asking about this question so here is my take on it.

Background: Some researchers claim that people gesture less when expressing abstract instead of physical ideas

Premise: Some people perceive words in different ways: for a word that has both abstract and physical understanding, people can perceive it as either abstract or physical

Conclusion: The argument that the researchers' claim is not universal is not sufficient reason to reject it.

WTF. What are the connections between the premise and the conclusion? It seems to me that the premise is trying to say that the researchers' claim MIGHT WELL BE universal.

The argument implies that the critics would challenge the researchers' claim by doubting its univsersality. It might be something like this: the word "comprehension" represents an abstract concept, but some people apparently gesture and make a grabbing movement when they say it. This is a disproving evidence that would show that this claim is not universal, therefore it can be rejected.

Author counters by saying: hey, "comprehension" doesn't have to mean the abstract concept of understanding. It can definitely mean "catching" or "grasping." Not so fast critics, the claim of the researchers can still be universal: people just understand a word differently, and their actions regarding gesturing when expressing different words or concepts are still in accordance with what the researchers have claimed. Just because someone does gesture when expressing a word that has an abstract definition does not mean that person are thinking of the abstract definition of that word. He or she might well be expressing the physical definition instead of the abstract one. In this line of reasoning, the researchers' claim still stand and still might be universal.

AC C matches this pretty well. The author is trying to use a psychological fact (people perceive words in different definition) to reconcile a general claim (researchers' 'people gesture less with abstract concepts'") with apparently disconfirming evidence (people do NOT always gesture less when expressing abstract concepts). I find this line of reasoning the most applicable to the right answer to this question. I might be dead wrong with this, and I would love to see what others have to say about this.

Correct me if I am wrong in my explanation.

*The kind of question this is:* Weaken

*Premise(s):* Marijuana has THC → THC has been found to inactivate herpesvirus (IH) → IH can convert healthy cells into cancer cells.

    *Conclusion:* Marijuana can cause cancer.

*What I am looking for:* extra information that we didn’t know about marijuana and its correlation with THC.

*Answer A:* No. That strengthens the argument by showing that scientists had a consensus and the same results.

*Answer B:* Yes. There is information we did not know about marijuana and how it neutralizes THC.

*Answer C:* No. That strengthens the conclusion.

*Answer D:* No. Great, but that is only an “IF.” It would still stand that marijuana causes cancer.

*Answer E:* No. Marijuana is beneficial to cancer patients, but it would still cause cancer for none cancer patients.

    Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any information as to how long it takes LSAC to receive and process letters of recommendation sent through the mail. My recommender put his letter in the mail on November 13th and I still have not gotten an update from LSAC. I checked to make sure that they sent the correct form with the letter and they confirmed that they did. Should I be worried?

    Thank you!

Hello, I'm struggling with understanding Hybrid games. I have a solid foundation on ordering and grouping but for some reason hybrid is tough. Are there any tutors that specialize in Hybrid games?

    Hi,

I've seen a few message boards concerning group chats. However, it's not clear whether these message boards are translating to real groups being formed. I'll offer to start a discord group for anybody that is aiming to take the LSAT in September and or October, as I am.

    My user is @dcforrapii

Send me a message, and I'll start it up :)

    Hi everyone,

My average PT score right now is 168.5 (highest was a 175) with my recent scores in the 169-173 range; my BRs are consistently in the low-mid 170s. My GPA is 3.79 (it's lower than my actual GPA cuz I went to a quarter-system school: kill me).

I have not started writing any essays and I want to apply this fall. Is it worth it to get any kind of admissions consulting? I'm paying out of pocket and there are so many free resources available, so I'm doubting the value of paid consulting. But I also want to produce the best possible application. What do y'all think?

Secondly, I would love to study for the September/October with some peers based in the Bay or the Pacific Time Zone. If you live around the Fremont or Milpitas area, let me know and we can study in-person at a library or coffee shop. If not, I'm happy to use Zoom!

    Thanks in advance!
