LSAC event

2014 LAW SCHOOL RECRUITMENT FORUMS

Has anyone been to a law school forum/workshop with LSAC? They have one in Houston but I live in austin.

Several universities will attend and setup booths. An admission representative will be there to answer any questions you may have and you also receive a $50 application waiver. I really want to get accepted into UT and they will be there. But i remember doing this years ago and it was pointless. And I don't know anyone else that's going :(

i dk, Is it worth the commute/time?

Score Increase.

I took the June 2014 Lsat for the first time I did horrible. I am applying to law school this semester for the Fall of 2015. I made a 140 on the June 14 LSAT, but I am taking it again in February 2015.

But my two questions are:

1) Is there any way i could see a significant jump in my score (at least 160 or higher)?

2) Is it still okay to apply and send my February Lsat scores in or am I pushing it for admissions to accept me?

Thanks for all the comments in advance!

Third retake?

I fucked up my score on the last two games. Everything else went more or less according to plan. I really feel that I know what I'm doing and deserve to get closer to PT score (165ish). The score I got today, high 150's, is probably good enough to get me into the state school in our area that I really want to go to. I doubt I would get any scholarships with my current score, however, and that is definitely not good. What do you think? The school policy is that they take the highest lsat score into consideration. How do you guys think a third one would look? Worth it?

Having done mostly self-study from a few online resources and a book, I studied for about two and a half months and took the LSAT in June. I had barely slept at all the night before and got a 157 in the 71st percentile.

I regrouped in August and studied for another two months and took the test in October (I'm in South Korea). Again, I hardly slept at all the night before the test. Thanks to 7sage (and my own mental elbow grease), my score went up 10 points (94th percentile).

I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW.

Retake? 168, -8 in LG

As mentioned above, I just got my LSAT score. I scored a 168, which I believe is a perfectly good score. The thing is that I scored -8 in logic games, and I think I could do better. I'm also almost certain that I could repeat my performance in the other sections.

Is it unreasonable to retake given that I want to apply for fall 2015? Would a potential (and not guaranteed) 2-4 point improvement be worth submitting an application 3 months later than I would otherwise?

My GPA is just below a 3.5, and I'm trying to get into a lower-ranked T14/15 school.

Any wisdom would be appreciated.

How should study for december? I have exhausted all prep tests...and used mostly all of the prep questions to my disposal. My weakness is still primarily reading comprehension. How should I go about studying for december? Its my last chance....dont want to do worse than i just found I did...(162)

Thank you 7-Sage

Just wanted to thank 7-Sage, the format, the community, everything about the site. I have been gone for a while but the principles I learned here became the foundations to my LSAT prep. I was able to score better then I ever planed on or hoped for, I didn't use any expensive courses or any special methods. I followed 7 Sage, internalized the material and practiced. I owe you a thank you as I move forward in my legal pursuits.

Can anyone who's taken the test (preferably recently) advise whether or not writing in the test booklet is allowed, and if so how much space is there for LR q's, LG's, and RC (to make notes during the test)? Also, as it relates to skipping questions, are we able to make a tick mark next to our answer sheet to remind ourselves thats a question we skipped? I'm assuming the answer to that one is no, but worth asking none the less. I plan on filling in a random answer even on the questions I skip since there is no penalization for guessing, but if I get extra time (doubtful but still, plan in case of any eventuality), I intend to return to my skipped questions and devote as much extra time as I have to answer them properly instead of a random guess.

My question concerns the lsac fee waiver. I should be approved without any trouble but I am having the hardest time getting my non filing form from the IRS. I have faxed them the request form and also called a couple times and still no luck. I would normally just wait and not be so anxious but my account is on hold due to it and with scores coming out thos week I really don't want to be stuck SOL waiting for the IRS to mail me the info LSAC requested. Do you guys know if it's possible to cancel the fee waiver to not have my account on hold and see my scores and then re submit it afterward to still receive the fee waivers? Any help is appreciated! Thank yo

7 Week Mark

That post made me start thinking.....

The highest I have gotten is 158. I'm hoping to sit somewhere in the mid 160s before the exam. I work full time, so I can't dedicate entire days to studying, but I'm going to propose a breakdown for how to go about getting such a score. Can someone look at it and tell me if they think it'll be effective?

Yesterday I wrote a practice test, and only got a 151. Which was disheartening. However, I realized that all the LG questions were from my weakest set - In/Out. And I really struggled with the Reading Comprehension, so those are two areas I need to focus on improving.

Saturday

- Prep Test

- Review Logical Reasoning both sections (BR)

- Review Logic Games Section (BR)

- Identify Problem Areas/Areas needing work

- Review

Sunday

- Review Reading Comprehension (BR)

- LG practice

- 1-2 Reading Comprehension practice

- Work on LR problem areas

During the week I ride the LRT to work, which is about 30 minutes of time a day. During this ride, I like to pull out Art History/ Scientific America Articles and read/make notes on them/ decipher the main point in the paragraphs and such, while working on retaining the passage. I do this daily.

Monday

- Review LR from the Prep Test

- LG Practice

- 2 RC Practice

- Review problem areas with LR

- Read Information (I have a print out of all the lessons that I review)

Tuesday/ Thursday

- Repeat of Saturday

Wednesday/Friday

- Repeat of Sunday

This will allow me to do.... 3 prep tests a week. An additional 6-8 Reading Comprehension practices, with memory method, get some additional "hard" reading in, and work on LG.

Does this seem effective? I am trying not to let the 151 bother me too much, but it's hard not to! I really want to target my problem areas.

LG help!

So after about 5 months of studying w 7sage my LG is by far my worst section. I range anywhere from 50-75%. Sequencing Games/Dual Layered Seq Games are my weakness. I work on Logic Games extensively printing the games out 10x each and perfecting them. Once i have "perfected them" i leave them alone for a few days/weeks and go back to them periodically and can still finish them pretty quickly. Yet when I am testing, its as if Ive never seen a LG in my life and i freeze or go way too slow. I don't know what to do about Games, any pointers? tips? suggestions?

Is anyone else having similar problems?

It has recently come to my attention that a visit to a psychiatrist may be necessary for me - I've been hearing J.Y. Ping's voices when doing LG sections.

"Apply the con-tra-PA-si-tive".

"What IN-fe-rences can we make?"

"Negate sufficient, fulfill necessary, the rule just goes away!"

"You have to take stock which rules are left..you can't freeze.."

When I was working on some logic games with my friends, I voiced out my thought process along the way, and they told me I sounded like J.Y. Ping (the little mannerisms). Oh I wish I was as good as him, but upon watching countless hours of his videos, Mr. Ping's voice took over me. And the more I try to get rid of it, it just keeps on coming back.

Anyone has similar experience? I'm sure I'm not alone.

Hey y'all,

So unfortunately I cancelled my score from Saturday's test. I took the test at Pace NY and there was construction being done on the roof of the building and as I'm sure you can all imagine, the incessant banging of pipes and jackhammering of concrete didn't make for an efficient test site and it certainly didn't complement the Reading Comp section very well.

The good news is that I took the test, cancelling my score after, and I really believe I was well prepared, thanks to the months of studying aided by 7sage. I do think, however, I can better my timing, I ultimately cancelled the score because I couldn't risk the possibility that the distractions screwed me up on things I know I could otherwise have been positive about.

BUT, now that I have time to do some more prep, I want to look at bettering my timing. When I time myself and take pts on my own, I finish sections in 33 minutes or so, but both times I took the actual test (last October and Saturday) I fell apart. Of course distractions were at an all time high on Saturday because of the crazy amount of noise from construction but now that I am taking the test in December I'd like to better prepare getting my timing down to a science. I'm thinking maybe I should start taking tests with other people.

Does anyone know of any programs or group that facilitate group tests? If not, would anyone in the NYC area be interested in maybe putting a group together this way we can take the exam under more realistic conditions?

P.s. if anyone else was at the Pace location and feels the construction was an overwhelming distraction, LSAC is being very accommodating and investigating all the reports and will either offer a make up or reimbursement. Be sure to get your complaints in to them if you need to!

Good afternoon fellow 7Sagers,

I see a lot of study buddy partnerships and groups being formed in many areas, so I am starting one in the San Fernando Valley! I just recently lost my study buddy whose moving overseas, and it'd be great to study the LSAT together! I have a lot of material including the Powerscore books and all the printed practice materials from Blueprint. I am aiming for a 170+, with my current preptest scores ranging from high 150s to mid 160s. Let me know here if you're interested!

Best regards,

Isaac

How are you preparing yourself to be mentally strong enough to open that email? I've been working out pretty hard, dieting, and meditating. I'm not sure how that relates to the LSAT, but it's been keeping me calm. The scores could come any day now, but my guess is on Sunday. Most places I've looked at say they're probably getting released Monday. Are you ready? Next week could be anything from going ahead and finishing up an application to send it in a week or two to getting back in the lab and writing practice tests again.
