Hey!

So ive been attempting to study for the LSAT for god knows how many years now. I think I am finally ready to give it my all.

I was wondering if there are people here who have worked full time and also studied. How did you guys manage? I realize its so much harder because you spend 9-5:30pm working then studying.

If you have, can you explain how you did it and how many months it took you? Also, if you dont mind-- do you mind sharing your score? I got 148 on my practice test.

Thanks!!

I have been studying since June 2022 for the LSAT and after having taken it a few times and consistently scoring lower on the actual test than PT and having sent a few applications already without high expectation, when is it time to throw in the towel? I really want this but I don't want to be that sad person that keeps running after something completely unattainable. I am taking it in April and my therapist suggested getting time accommodations, so I requested and got it (50% time) which is great and will help significantly, but its so late in the process. My plan B is take it and if it doesn't happen this year, reapply to my top choice schools and a few I was too afraid to apply to but idk. I really really want law school but I can't take one test forever, you know?

The study buddy tool option has not worked out too well for me. I'm in Mission Viejo/Lake Forest and would like to get a group or find a buddy to work together before the April test. I find it helpful talking one on one with peers. Please comment or message me if you're interested!

PT advice

Hey everyone, I wanted to get some good advice from fellow LSATers. How often should I PT? I am currently finishing the core curriculum, in the LR section and was wondering when and how often should I start PTing? Should I complete my CC, or do I start PTing once in a while? Thank you in advance.

Hi!

My friend who went to Yonsei UIC and I are starting an online LSAT study group. He has an official score of 176 and my score fluctuates from 166-172. I am not sure if this means anything but I have a degree from Johns Hopkins. We also have another member who scores around low-170s in the PTs.

We meet at 7 pm-9 pm Korean Standard Time on Wednesday.

I have a Zoom Pro, so we can meet without interruption.

We also plan to meet offline at Gangnam station for a group study or maybe even a dinner or drinks if we gather enough people.

If you are interested, please send me a DM and I will invite you to the KakaoTalk group chat!

Thanks! (:

Reading Comprehension

How do you guys do reading comprehension? I can't seem to get any strategies when tackling reading comprehension. I don't know how to get better and if it is even worth practicing since every passage is different? Any advice would be really helpful.

Throughout my LSAT journey, I have referred constantly to this post, which noted the most difficult individual PT sections in all three pre-August 2024 LSAT components. I wanted to follow up on it with updates and remarks that I believe may benefit those taking the April and/or June 2024 LSATs.

Most difficult LSAT sections according to 7Sage Analytics, as of March 2024:

LOGIC GAMES:

5-star: 27, B, C, 34, 88

4-star: 5, 18, A, 30, 31, 35, 62

LOGICAL REASONING:

5-star: 5-S1, 7-S4,17-S2, 17-S3, F97-S1, 23-S3, 28-S1

4-star: 1-S3, 3-S4, 4-S1, 5-S3, 8-S1, 8-S4, 9-S2, 10-S4, 11-S4, 12-S4, 14-S2, 14-S4, 18-S2, 21-S3, F97-S3, 22-S4, 24-S2, 26-S2, 27-S1, 28-S3, 33-S1, 39-S2, 45-S1, 62-S2, 69-S4, 70-S4, 71-S3, 72-S2, 76-S2, 78-S1, 81-S2, 84-S3

READING COMPREHENSION:

5-star: 30, 65, 74, C2, 79, 84

4-star: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 13, 15, 18, 19, 21, F97, 26, 27, 28, 31, 32, 33, 35, 38, 43, 45, 47, 48, 50, 51, 53, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 73, 75, 76, 78, 81, 82, 83, 85, 86, 87, 89, 90, 91

A couple of remarks:

  • Where are PTs 92-94? Those PTs have all their sections ranked 3 stars or lower (in some cases, even as low as 1 star!)
  • Will RC be just as difficult in April and June? I would say yes. Given how many 4- and 5-star difficulty sections have come up since the 60s range, I would recommend against neglecting RC and perhaps even going through one 4- or 5-star passage on each of your study days (you can do that by generating drills with passage difficulty set to "Hardest")
  • Should I be going out of my way to challenge myself with older 4- or 5-star difficulty sections? It depends. A lot of the LR sections listed above have outdated question forms and may be better for pure question type drilling. On the other hand, I did not reach a consistent -0 on LG until challenging myself with doing the PT A, B, and C LG sections timed and becoming exposed to all sorts of complex game formulations. It's really up to you and what your goals are

I have a 3.2 GPA because I did my undergrad online while working and I suffered somewhat with splitting time spent at work and time spent doing school. I worked in order to pay for my degree.

I also have a 151 LSAT. I want to go to NIU so I'm around the median but I still want to amplify my chances.

Here's my question - should I write a GPA addendum?

secondly, in regards to diversity statements. I am a literal WASP, haha, so I don't know if it's even worth writing one. My parents are immigrants and I'm strongly into my faith. Should I write something about those attributes or just forget it? what other "diverse" attributes should I think about? I do a lot of volunteering with youth (which is already in my resume and personal statement).

Hey guys! So I took a practice test in 2023 without any studying and scored a 139. I recently took the same exam and another practice test and scored 149. Is that improvement? I don't know if I should be happy or a bit disappointed. My blind review is 153. I went up 10 points in both blind review and timed test. I'm not sure if I should be scoring high after doing the core curriculum and drills. The only section that hasn't improved in reading comprehension.

    LSAT frustration

I have been studying for about 8 months, with a very heavy emphasis for the last 3 months. I am beyond frustrated with my lack of improvement and inconsistency. Am I actually just dumb? I have placed a huge emphasis on BR recently, and will continue to do so. But it hasn't seemed to help. I hired a tutor, I have my fingers crossed that it helps but nothing else I have tried seems to. My first diagnostic was a 148 I believe, then I studied my ass off, my last PT before Feb LSAT was a 159 and I was feeling ok about it. Took the test and got a 153. Took another PT a few days ago and got a 155. My goal is to eventually get a 168-172 by next cycle and I am starting to feel like that is not viable for me anymore.

One of the hardest things for me is diagnosing what exactly my issue is. There have been times I will take a PT and get -4 LR, and then my very next test I will get my -11/12 LR. I know my games and RC need work which is the main reason I hired a tutor, but man LR is driving me nuts. I feel like I know what the question is asking, I understand the stimulus, and even in BR I am able to explain away the other answers that I didn't choose, only to find out that I chose incorrectly. Is it even possible for me to get a 160mid or above by the April/June LSAT barring an absolute miracle from God? Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Just wanted to see any advice anyone may have. Thanks!

    Two different PT scores

Hi, I have two different scores that I have seen for a preptest and just want to make sure I understand fully what is going on so I know how to proceed. On the first diagnostic I took, I got a 142 - what I see currently is a 135 as the score. I took a preptest two days ago and the score I received was a 148, after finishing blind review it was a 152. Now it shows up as a 140. I still had the tab open from when it was a 148. Just want to make sure what exactly is going on here and which one is my score. Thank you!

Hi all, it seems that posting on the discussion forum can be ineffective in terms of getting feedback, so i’ll try one more time: I’m working on the Valid and invalid argument forms part of the curriculum, and i’ve been struggling with the concepts but taking my time. Since I will be taking the test without LG, is it necessary for me to still put a big emphasis on it?

    Drilling

I am just getting started and created my study schedule. I am not seeing drilling/practice tests on there. Should we finish the study schedule curriculum before we get started on creating drills and taking practice tests?

    Hi,

Could someone please help me with interpreting "except" in this sentence?

In order to encourage personal responsibility in adults, society should not restrict the performance of any of the actions of adults or interfere with the likely results except to prevent negative effects on others.

This short premise is originally from PT 69 Section 2 Q15. The way JY interprets except in the sentence is that "if there is interference, then it is to prevent negative effects on others". I understand this logical transition. However, in the syllabus, doesn't he say that "except" is a bi-conditional indicator? So, will we use "except" as a bi-conditional indicator here to translate the logic?

Thank you for the help!!!! I sincerely appreciate any helpful comments.

Admin Note: Edited title. For LR questions, please use the format: "PT#.S#.Q# - brief description of the question."

I'm currently a 3L at one of the Canadian law schools (which I will keep anonymous) and was feeling anxious about the uncertainty of articling that lies ahead. I came back to 7sage to scroll to take gain some perspective and remind myself of where I started and to remind myself that things do work out and they will be okay. This rings true even for those in law school. However, I saw some forums that reminded me of how I felt when studying to get into law school and I hope my experience can help bring some encouragement to someone!

To provide some context, I was admitted into my current law school in 2021 but before that I studied for the LSAT for 4 years. I was working full-time (a typical eight hour job) and was studying full-time. I had almost given up since I had taken the LSAT almost 4 times (this was before the cap was reinstated). By the last attempt, I was so burnt out, bitter, annoyed, frustrated and just overall upset. I didn't want to study anymore and almost called it quits. Hearing about law school or even seeing TV shows about the law made me feel ill and just reminded me of how disappointed I was with my studying at that point. I will not sugarcoat it, studying for this exam was absolutely brutal and it's definitely not for the faint of heart. Given how fed up I was with this exam, I called it quits and essentially just did the last attempt for the sake of doing it (I had stopped studying for it weeks before and just started reviewing). Trust, even reviewing for this exam was like pulling teeth, my motivation was that dried out and tired. Funnily enough, that last attempt ended up being my best score (159) and I was so surprised. For myself, I realized part of the obstacle was me. I had borderline idolized this exam and it was only until I learned to ease my anxiety that I did better. The next three years were a whirlwind and I honestly am still in shock by the fact that they passed by so quickly. There's still so much that I need to learn and I still struggle at times to adopt a novice mindset.

I'm now graduating in a month. If someone had told me that I would be at this point in my life then I wouldn't have believed them. It's wild how life works. This is my long winded way of saying trust the process and put your best foot forward. If you tried, at least you can say that you did and it may or not bear fruit. Either way, you will be okay and you never know where life will take you. Don't give up b/c you've got this.

    Hey 7Sagers,

Currently we feature a free Proctored PT event every week on Saturdays, such as this one from last Saturday.

Do you find these valuable? If you've attended one or more in the past, what did you like or dislike about it? If you haven't attended one, is there a particular reason (not held at a good time, doesn't sound useful, etc.)?

    Any feedback is appreciated!

I wanted to see if anyone would know if having migraines would allow me to receive accommodations on the LSAT. If so also what are the exact steps? I have looked on LSAC's website but the directions seem a little confusing.
