Does the Memory Method work?

Hey all. I am currently PTing between 169-171. Over half my wrong answers come from RC, which I have admittedly done very, very little practice with. I usually go -5 to -7. Has anyone found success with the memory method?

My tactic has always been to read the passage deeply for 3-4 minutes, highlighting and notating the crap out of it, and doing the questions quickly. I am unwilling to change this tactic at the moment because I am taking my first LSAT in January.

Hi all,

Long story short, I was very fortunate to get great free help on my law school apps through a combination of friends and the advising center at my undergrad institution that lead to an offer at a T6. I believe people shouldn't have to pay thousands of dollars for someone to review their essays so I'd like to pay it forward to some folks.

While I'm probably not as qualified as the folks at the other end of those huge price tags, I have been writing professionally for about 4 years and think I'm pretty good at it.

Anyway, if you want help, please DM me with the following info:

What you want me to edit (I am willing review up to 2 documents/4 pages total per person):

Where are you sending it:

When you need it by:

To make sure I can manage this, I'll only be taking up to 5 folks at first. So long as you get me your material by the 24th, I can get it back to you by the 27th.

Happy holidays!

LG question

Hi Guys , i have done all LG PT from 50-92 and was wondering how useful it is to practice older PT LG section now? Or is it best to just drill all new ones again and ai for only perfection? Thank you!!

I have been using older PTs to create "experimental" sections to add to the three section flex PTs and was wondering if they ever give a test that has the same section repeated back to back (eg. S3 RC experimental and S4 RC). I have unintentionally done this and it seems to really affect my score on the second repeated section. Should I keep preparing for this possibility or do they make sure that tests do not have this?

I noticed that some law school applications have a diversity question separate of the diversity statement asking you to list any diversity characteristics that you would like to provide. From Washington University's application portal:

Please list any diversity characteristics that you would like to provide (cultural, sexual and/or gender minorities, disabilities, age, religion, immigrants, socio-economic, etc.). Applicants may also attached an optional Diversity Statement to their application as an addendum. (maximum characters 300)

What is the purpose of this short section? Is it to quite literally list out one's diversity characteristics, as opposed to writing a narrative about them? I have a diversity statement prepared, which I plan to upload. Please let me know your thoughts on completing both the short section and diversity statement.

NA vs SA

Hi!

I for the life of me cannot correctly identify NA q's from SA q's. Does anyone have any tips/tricks to recognize between the two?

LOR from Employer

Hi All,

I know this is a very common discussion, but my employer asked me to write a draft of (my) recommendation letter. He commented that he would add a nice touch to the draft after. While I am positive that he would write me a positive letter (I worked for this employer right after I graduated college and we knew each other for almost three years), I am not sure where to start.

Where would I find good letter of recommendation samples? And what do admission officers look for when they review recommendation letters from employers?

Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Progress not showing

It used to be that when I clocked on the syllabus, I could see which lessons I had completed/starred. For some reason this isn't showing up anymore. Does anyone know why this might be?

I noticed that the comparative passages started at PT 52 and go only up to PT 88. Have they changed the later/most recent RC sections to not have a comparative passage? Will there be a comparative passage on future tests?

free tutoring?

hi! i've been scoring consistently in the low-mid 170s for the last 2 months. i'm trying to build my mastery even more, and I've found that tutoring other people helps with this. if you would like some tutoring to work through tough LR q's and tough RC passages, or LG, i'd be more than happy to do so for free :) i have time these next few weeks to do so, so HMU!

One of the main goals in reading comprehension is to accurately and descriptively identify the tone of the author of the passage. I did find a list of words on an academic website that are used to convey the tone of the author. However, it would be more beneficial if we try on our own to think and come up with a list. Also, for each word, try to give a quick explanation/meaning of the word!

I will start us out with a few.

The authors tone could be:

Curious - fascinated with the subject of the passage and wants to explore the topic further.

Approving - reinforces the topics presented in the passage and is willing to promote it.

Indifferent - Is neutral with the information discussed in the passage, neither positive or negative.

Hi all,

Looking for advice on submitting an LSAT addendum. Even though I got a 170 on my first LSAT attempt (thanks 7sage!), I decided, maybe mistakenly, to try again because I felt I had the potential to score even higher. Unfortunately I bombed my second attempt relative to all my practice test scores and scored a 164. I don't really have a good reason, other than the fact that my upstairs neighbors started blasting music five minutes before and I had to quickly switch rooms and get ready again. My first section was logic games and I couldn't solve half the games for the first time since my early study days. My other sections proceeded as expected, I think.

I understand a six point decrease is somewhat significant, but I also do not want to write an addendum that lacks a compelling reason to excuse the lower score and comes off as insincere. Would it be a good idea to send one in if I genuinely believe the 170 better reflects my abilities? I've already submitted my applications, so this would be in an email to the admissions office.

Thanks in advance!

logic games

hey guys I am having some issues understanding some of the Core Curriculum especially logic. I would appreciate if someone can help thank you.

Hi All,

I am just beginning my LSAT journey with 7Sage and was wondering what your strategy was/is with the core curriculum. I see that the lessons begin with LR, then get into LG and RC. Do y’all stick to the curriculum and get LR out of the way first, or jump around between all three in order to balance? I am worried about only doing LR, then the other two and forgetting everything. Please correct me if I am looking at the curriculum wrong, too!

Thanks

I was thrown off by this one; even took a few times to read it before I realized what I did wrong. What I failed to recognize is that he seems to be assumed the reason for the complaints is the complainant's difference in political opinion; this has, in fact, not been demonstrated to be true.
