Hi all,

I plan on taking the LSAT in November and since I just started and I'm on a time crunch I was wondering if any of you have suggestions on how to study? I'm also a student so I'll be taking classes in the summer and full-time in the fall. Would it be a bad idea to go through the curriculum to understand the concepts and only do a few practice sets (not all since it is a lot and takes up a good chunk of hours) and then get done by mid-july and just keep on doing practice tests until November?

Thanks!

Hello 7sagers,

kinda bummed because a couple weeks ago after hitting my highest blind review score (163) my most recent BR score has plummeted to a 157. Looking at the blind review stats there were a handful of questions in the LR section that I changed from correct to incorrect. Any advice on how to correct that going forward, taking the LSAT-Flex in 3 weeks so any advice is welcome.

I am registered for the July 2020 LSAT, I have been scoring low 160s and I want to improve my score into the low 170s. What are the most useful 7sage courses you have used so far and that I recommend doing. The course planner is saying I need to spend 90+ hrs a week to complete all the material, but I don't think all the material is 100% required right?

Please let me know what you all think, I'm an LSAT newbie.

Can anyone think of examples that would make the following answer choices correct

OR have come across LSAT arguments that have a method of reasoning matching the answer choices below?

it is compatible with accepting the argument’s conclusion and with denying it

it makes a value judgement that is incompatible with a principle outlined

It distorts the opponent's argument and then attacks the distorted argument

Thanks!

Hey guys!

Is it wrong go through any type of strengthening question as a SA/PSA? (Finding the premise, identifying the conclusion, and choosing the answer choice that adds to the premise) If this is wrong, how do you determine just a strengthening question from that of a SA/PSA? Does the word "principle" in the stimulus have anything to do with it?

Has anyone ever heard of anyone who began studying for the bar before 1L year? I know it seems like a bit much but I am looking to prepare for 1L year, have lots of time, and am taking out so much debt I need to absolutely kill it 1L year, at least in my head. It seems like the bar focuses on 1L material anyway.

I have already studied most of 7sage Law School and am hungry for more. I would pay for the bar prep courses but I am wondering if those who have been through school and the exam think this is senseless.

Finally, when do students usually sit for bar? Do they generally take it in July and then subsequently begin work, or does work begin earlier?

Thanks for the help.

I've taken full advantage of remote-working over the past few weeks to focus primarily on the LSAT. I've seen meaningful progress and a slight bump in my PTs because of the quality and quantity of time I've committed to studying. Now that quarantine appears to be loosening its grip for those in different work situations, I can't help but think of how much time I WON'T be able to dedicate towards studying.

Are there other Active E's or O's also studying for the LSAT?

How are others with demanding job hours - anything outside 9-6 - looking to prioritize studying? What did you all do prior to the pandemic?

Hello,

I just have recently started studying for the LSAT and I am about 60 hours into the Core Curriculum after about 2 weeks. I am going through massive up's and downs when it comes to LR as it is very new for me. I am just beginning to introduce myself to Must Be True questions and I did a problem set with a high difficulty but got 0 correct even after BR (fucking abhorrent, I know) which is really discouraging. I was just wondering how long it took some of you guys to see significant improvement in LR?

I am determined to get a good LSAT score and keep going. My GPA is nothing to worry about but I really want a good LSAT score as well. I guess this post is me wanting to know if there is light at the end of this tunnel.

Thank you!

I remember the first time I read through this article I couldn't stop thinking about it. Started reading through it almost every night at some point. I got in the habit of writing down “slow is smooth, and smooth is fast”, in my notes over and over. Definitely recommend checking out this guys journey, thoughts?

Also, I found the Logic Games portion he covered the most interesting. Just imagine the advantage you'd have on the lsat flex if you could consistently ace every logic games section during a point in your prep and then be able test in the comfort of your own home.

Hey everyone, so I'm working my way through the course so far, and I was just wondering if its recommended to do the problems before JY goes through his approach and ultimately answers the question? Or should I just sit back and look at how he approaches and handles the questions?

Hi all,

I need some help on my study schedule. I've taken 4 PT's so far and despite foolproofing all LG problem sets and drills in the CC, I've only been able to score - 6 on my last PT (my best LG score). I have recently started to drill the clean games from PT 1 - 16, and I have yet to reach a level of consistency, meaning I typically score in the - 0 to - 2 band within the allocated time, but for example I got a - 4 today on a fresh game which was quite disheartening.

I still have some work to do in LR and a lot more in RC. I don't feel that focusing exclusively on LG for more than a few days is necessary, as I feel like I can improve by foolproofing throughout the week along with LR/RC specific work. But I'm not sure if this will be beneficial to do as I see many people on the threads focusing exclusively on LG for a much longer period of time. Additionally I feel like I really need to be taking more PT's at this point.

Also I'm planning on taking the June LSAT, but I have a little more time since I will be taking it in Europe on 25th of June, if the current situation allows.

So in short, do you guys recommend that I focus on LG first before serious PT'ing or is it ok to instead focus on my weaknesses in other sections as well along with regular PT'ing?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi everyone!

I am gearing up to take the May LSAT Flex and want to get as many games/general practice in as I can, especially from more recent tests. I don't have access to PrepTests beyond 72 on 7sage, but do have access to the full Preptest 73 through LSAC. I will take this one as a timed practice test. I also purchased the print version of Preptests 72-81. Since the test is three weeks away, I won't have time to do all these practice tests as full timed exams, and would like to use at least three or four of them as section practice with material I haven't seen before. With all that context established:

What are some of the hardest games (and LR sections, if any come to mind) in these tests (74-81) that you have encountered? I'd love to focus my time on these as the date comes up. It's really helpful to see new games variations/different language. Also, if anyone has last-minute tips/de-stressors to help with performance anxiety, I would love to hear them. Thank you!

Earlier this week I sent this email to Juliet (from student services). If you want to discuss further or are interested in seeing the texting thread (which I didn't add to this message) let me know.

Juliet,

I don't know his last name but his first is Di. His alias on 7Sage is "Heart Shaped Box". Regarding specifics, I reached out to him through the comment section in early January. We setup a payment schedule through Venmo $150 for 4 sessions. On about January 27 we had just completed the 1st of our second set of 4 sessions, so I had a balance and 3 more sessions remaining. As we all know the pandemic was in it's very early stages and my wife is an anesthesiologist in the Boston area. The significance of this is she got sick early Feb, and we have a 2 very small children. My focus shifted away from studying at the time as I needed to take care of our household, and as we all know all hell broke loose very shortly thereafter. I did not communicate with Di (since that last session in late January) until 2 days ago. Following is the text thread of my attempt to reach out to Di and ask for the remaining balance to be refunded. Nothing has been added or subtracted. I have not since contacted him nor has he contacted me.

As I hope you can see/tell, he is refusing to return any of my money because I "disappeared" etc. There was never any discussion of these stringent terms on top of the fact that the circumstances (a worldwide viral pandemic of which my wife works the front line) were far from the norm or what ANYONE could have predicted. If he simply decided to not be so immediately confrontational and talk to me we probably could have figured something out that worked for us both. He never attempted to seek out any understanding of my situation and predicament. Like I said a couple of times in the thread I was so disappointed. I thought we had at least a professional ability to communicate. We actually had a friendly rapport. I really did not expect that sense of hostility that he conveyed. I was totally taken aback and I think any other potential student should know what happened.

Again, I appreciate your help!

Rich

Hi everyone,

I finished my June 2007 prep test and am now doing the blind review, however, I am still having trouble with figuring out questions 22 and 23 in the first section. The questions are regarding the recycling centres and materials. The rules for these questions are:

  • 3 recycling centres (C1, C2, C3)
  • 5 materials (plastic, tin, glass, wood, newsprint)
  • each centre recycles at least 2 but no more than 3 materials
  • any centre that recycles wood also recycles newsprint (WN)
  • every material that C2 recycles is also recycled at C1
  • Only one recycling centre recycles plastic, and that centre does not recycle glass
  • Question 22 reads: "If Centre 3 recycles glass, then which of the following kinds of material must Centre 2 recycle?"

    A. Glass

    B. Newsprint

    C. Plastic

    D. Tin

    E. Wood

Question 23: if C1 is the only recycling centre that recycles wood, then what could be a complete and accurate list of kinds of materials that one of the recycling centres recycles?

    A. P, T

    B. N, W

    C. N, T

    D. G, W

    E. G, T

Would anyone be able to explain how to find the right answer for these questions?

    Thank you in advance!

I know this isn't quite the right category, but there doesn't seem to be one for feature requests.

Per LSAC's announcement, the interface for the May LSAT-Flex will be very similar to the one used in the LawHub. 7Sage has some awesome features and things like a better font with more visible text and more effective highlighting than LawHub, but those would differ from the test-day experience.

Is it possible to add a "locked down" mode to 7Sage's interface that simulates LawHub and the test-day experience? That would include things like no dark theme, no full screen mode, LawHub's font and line height, no collapsing answers, full passage view mode, no line numbers, etc.

I'd just take full PTs in LawHub, but the section ordering is wrong and there's no easy way to track timing there. I'd imagine updating the 7Sage interface would mostly just require CSS changes and a toggle button so hopefully this wouldn't be much work.

    Thanks!

    Hey guys!

I was really upset yesterday because I could not understand the 9 valid and 7 invalid argument forms. For everyone else having trouble, taking a break and coming back to it the next day really helps! Sometimes you just need to give yourself a break. Anyways, I started to do practice problems with the chains. If I know how to work the chains do I need to memorize all of the forms?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Hi! I was accepted at my top choice with ~75% tuition scholarship (tried negotiating, no change). I have accepted the $20,500 Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan in order to cover the remaining tuition. To cover the remaining cost of attendance, the school has offered ~$40K in a Grad PLUS Loan (I am assuming I am eligible for the full amount because I have a good, long credit history, but the application doesn't actually open until June/July).

Here's where I'm running into trouble. I do not need the full $40K and did not plan to accept the whole thing. I have also applied for numerous outside scholarships, which have the potential to make a big dent in my COA need - but I haven't heard back yet. However, the school requested that I respond to their financial aid offer by the end of the month.

Will I be able to make changes to the Grad PLUS Loan amount later? I am really scared to take on all this debt and applied for scholarships to minimize it! Should I accept the whole thing? Accept the amount I anticipate needing? Thank you so much for your help!

After having gone through most of the 7sage curriculum, I was wondering about the general difficulty of the LSAT compared to 7Sage. In 7Sage, the question/pssg difficulty ranges from 1-5. In general, do the actual LSAT questions then tend to range around a median of 2.5/5 difficulty with some low, some high, and some in the middle? Or is the difficulty more variable from test to test. In other words, if you were to add up and average all of the difficulties of questions on any given LSAT, would they usually hover around 2.5 like a normal distribution?
