Hey everyone, so ever since the quarantine my studying habits have fallen off quite a bit. I used to study for about 4 hours a day, but during the quarantine I have fallen off the wagon, sometimes not even studying at all some days. I can’t help but feel like I’ve forgotten everything I’ve learned so far in the CC, not to mention I had already used a different course prior to switching to 7sage and completed all of those lessons. Should I start completely over with the CC? I am nearly 100 hours in, but as mentioned previously, the last few things I’ve covered have been done inconsistently. Or should I just keep moving forward and trust that I remember everything that I’ve covered so far? I apologize in advance for such a dramatic post, I am just feeling like I’ve messed up big time for taking such a long break and am in desperate need of any advice on what to do moving forward.

Thank you all very much for any help.

Hi everyone,

So I was stuck between C and B in this question because while I definitely can see why C is right, I wasn't able to see why B did not at least somewhat support this argument. After all, "most people" could apply to what "we" are obliged to do (as stated in the conclusion).

I feel like in previous strengthen questions I have seen before, "most people" does strengthen the argument (ie in strengthen questions where the conclusion is referring to other people besides "we"), but why doesn't it do so in this case?

Thanks!

Hello!

I am stuck on Practice Test 31 Section 3 Question 22 about endosymbiosis. I get the structure of the stimulus. The stimulus is saying that the nucleomorph was found inside the chlorarachniophyte. The nucleomorph has to be the remains of an engulfed organism's nucleus because it contains two versions of a particular gene in its DNA. I'm imagining that the chlorarachniophyte engulfed an organism, and a part of the organism gave way to the functional nucleomorph, which is now found within the chlorarachniophyte. How can answer choice E be the correct answer? E says chlorarachniophyte emerged following the endosymbiosis, but chlorarachniophyte has to already exist before then because it was part of the process of endosymbiosis. The chlorarachniophyte engulfed another organism. Also, how is answer choice C incorrect? I'm having trouble following.

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

Some 7sagers have requested we host another skipping strategy seminar because they either missed the first session or because they have follow up questions from the first

So, @"Cant Get Right" and I are going to host another session on Saturday, April 25th at 7:30pm EST

We are going to do a deeper dive this time

As these things work a lot better when we know what to go into detail about ahead of time, please post your questions on this thread so we can tailor accordingly

This would also help other potential attendees know what to expect

If you're seeing this for the first time and wondering what it is, you can find out more:

a) about skipping strategy and specifically about what worked for me here:

https://classic.7sage.com/discussion/#/discussion/21717/140s-to174-thank-you-7sage

b) questions following the first webinar:

I just went thru PT7 S4 Q13 and came across a question stem that’s says “In order for the conclusion above to be properly drawn, which one of the following assumptions would have to be made?” The question type is regarded as SA.

I originally thought it was a NA question despite the “in order for the conclusion above to be properly drawn,” because of PT56 S2 Q20. This NA question stem reads “which one of the following principles must be assumed in order for the psychologist’s conclusion to be properly drawn?”

Those two sound sooooo similar to me. I am able to tell apart NA and SA most of the time, but these two are messing my head. Any insight would be very helpful!

Just had an idea for the best group to do this contact tracing that is going to be needed for upcoming covid19 fight.... law students. You need lots of people who are bright, can handle lots of details and keep everything straight, are hardworking, and most of all understand, value, and respect confidentiality and privacy.. There are 100,000 law students and they could form teams where they are at, take a sabbatical from school, maybe make some money, and save civilization.

So the registration for the June LSAT closes tomorrow night and I was wondering if I could get some quick insight from this amazing community. I would feel comfortable taking the June Flex-LSAT as of right now but I would feel even better waiting for July. I understand that score cumulation is of no issue and I figured, might as well get one under my belt because I will be participating in either the June/August or the July/August dates, or maybe even all three if I'm feeling hardcore. The thing that worries me is the LSAT Flex, I've heard horror stories relating to the recently implemented tablet LSAT, so I think it might be wise to sit back and observe the experiences of students who will have taken the Flex this month before deciding which date to pursue. Who else in this bizarre situation?

Finally, I want to be able to participate in the Flex at least once and my friend who is a full time healthcare worker (Works E.R.) says there's very little possibility the test will be administered normally in July for my state.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I know in the core curriculum, it's pretty heavily emphasised that you should do the logical reasoning curricula before moving on, but I have my LR scores in an okay place, whereas my logic games is consistently the weakest part of my scores. So I think it makes the most sense for me to jump in with Logic Games to get myself to the same level as I perform with LR, but would this be a mistake? Will I spend a lot more time than necessary on LG material without the LR core?

For context, on the Feb. 1997 prep-test I scored 18/25 on both LR sections, and 8/24 on LG. So I can stand to review LR obviously, but I want to start with what I have to improve the most on.

Referencing the post on "What To Do After You Get Waitlisted," there is a section addressing students who have not heard back yet. While it says it is okay for a student with no decision to send a LOCI so long as one's application was submitted at least 2 or 3 months prior, I was wondering what the nature of follow-up LOCIs should be? On timing, the post's suggestion was to send follow-up LOCIs to schools on a monthly basis after the initial (and especially before the seat deposit deadline). I sent LOCIs to a number of schools I'd not yet heard back from at the very beginning of this month, writing the LOCI in a format similar to a personal statement, submitting a "Why X" essay in cases where I'd not already submitted one, and also writing a shorter LOCI in the body of the email.

That having been my initial LOCI blast, should my follow-up basically just be a cut-and-paste of my email statement? I don't want to make things unnecessarily strenuous by drafting a new statement with "new" interests, but not sure if a copy-and-paste of an email I already sent is that helpful. Any suggestions on how to approach this?

Given that there will be different sign up times for the May Lsat-flex I'm assuming that means there will be diffrent versions for the exam so that nothing gets leaked? Depending on the time you sign up for will probably determine the version you get...with that being said I feel like it could be luck of the draw with games..

Quick question for those that have a better understanding of the 7Sage problem set generator than I do:

After I've completed any sort of problem set, I've noticed that SOME questions have a "target" indication next to them in addition to the breakdown about Round 1, Round 2 and Total under the timing column while others do not.

When it's available, how should I interpret this target time?:

Is it similar to games where, if I want to go -0 in the section then I ought to target for time?

Is it the average amount of time that other 7Sagers (perhaps in a particular score range) have spent?

Is this what J.Y. believes one ought to spend on this particular question?

It's just awesome the amount of data that you instantly have access to and I think this could be a huge value-add but just not sure how to interpret here.

Thanks!

Hi I'm almost pushing into the 170s and I'm trying to solidify my strategy for LR. Right now I read the question stem, read the stimulus and find the C, P's, and background info, then I translate the stim into my own words. After that I find the flaw and ask "What if...?" then I move into PoE looking for that pivotal wrong word that disqualifies an AC. At the end of all that I give myself a confidence score for each question.

My issue is this approach doesn't take into account the specific strategies per question type. I know you could say "just do it intuitively," I'd rather have a very concrete strategy for LR. Not remembering what to do under pressure is hard for me so this is what I've come up with and I'd love to know any feedback you have.

For labeling questions (argument part, MC): underline the conclusion, see where specifically support is flowing to and from

Argument questions: underline the conclusion in all of these, then follow specific strategy

Weaken / strengthen: no strategy!

Flaw: JY's 2 part test

NA: do MBT test and then the negation test

SA: see the structure of the argument, graph if needed

PSA: same as SA

Pmor: same as SA

MoR: understand what the author is doing, describe in my own words

Pfmor: see the flaw and get a strong understanding of what I'm looking for

point of agree/diagreement: do the chart where 1 person agrees / disagrees / no opinion

Premise set questions (MSS, MBT):

MSS: read the stim really, really well. Get a solid translation of my own of the stim, then move into ACs

MBT: if I can't do it in my head, graph

RRE: No real strategy. I generally try to find the point of tension and try to explain it, but I find these questions are just LSAC gauging how well your assumptions match their own (bit of cynicism here :D haha)

I'd love any links to good resources, recommendations, suggestions!!! Thanks in advance.

Update: All books have been claimed!

Hi 7sagers

I'm heading off to law school this fall! I wanted to thank the 7Sage community for being a part of my journey. Like most people, I discovered 7Sage through the (formerly) free LG videos. I found JY and this community extremely helpful and I hit my target score of 165. I took my very first LSAT in Nov 2018 with only using books and the free videos as prep and got a 161.

I could only afford a Starter course, but I felt that this community was extremely helpful and helped me make the most of the resources that I had. So I'd like to pay it forward by giving away my books to another 7Sager with a Starter account and/or LSAC need based fee waiver.

These are all the books I have:

Powerscore Bibles (LR, LG, RC)

Powerscore Training (LR, RC)

LSAC Superprep

LSAC Vol 4 (PT 52-61)

LSAC Vol 5 x2 (PT 62-71; I have 2 because a friend gave me one after she changed her mind about law school)

LSAC Vol 6 (PT 72-81)

Please message me if interested.

Thanks!

I used to buy preptests to extend my acc, can I not do this anymore? I couldn't find the buy preptest section on mobile version of the site...if I can still do this, can someone link me the page to buy the individual preptests? Thanks.

Practice Tests

*****I started studying intensely a month ago and I am taking the August 29, 2020 exam. How frequently should I be taking a full/time practice exam?

    NA vs SA

What is the primary difference between Necessary Assumption Qs and Sufficient Assumption Qs? Both are required to make the argument valid but I'm not quire sure how the answer choices differ.

I started doing PTs a week ago and plan to take 4 a week (from 36 to 89) while doing some additional drilling the days I don't do PTs. This would be quite tight to make it before the July date (13th) and with COVID I do not know what the status of that is. Do people think it will be a FLEX or a regular LSAT by then?

Additionally, the August date (29th) is quite far out and I would run out of PTs too soon before the exam. I am at a decent score but think that I could get better. I also saw there is no september date so if I have to cancel for some reason I won't have scores to start applications early.

Would you recommend taking the July and trying to cram as many PTs as I can? (won't have any clean tests if I do end up cancelling this score)? Or slowing down to make it until August?

    UPGRADE

Hi everyone! I did my free trial and I really liked it. Considering purchasing monthly ultimate+ and I am not sure what is this bundle plus? Can anyone advise if I need to check that box or not? Do I need to buy it in order to get the materials from ultimate+? Thank you in advance.

    Hey fellow 7Sagers,

I'm going through the CC and I have a quick question for y'all about PT21 game 4. If you look at this explanation video: https://classic.7sage.com/lesson/sequencing-game-wa-twist-3-game-board-setup/?ss_completed_lesson=1115

You'll see that JY infers that H/K gotta go to the last opening on the second set-up. But why though? Why not H/K/L/M?

We could pick let’s say L for Week 3 and have MM appear on week 4 or M for week 3 and LL on week 4? I don't see what could prevent us from doing that. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,

I finished the CC and I have been getting lower PTs than before I even started LGs. I was getting -3s on the LR sections of the PTs but now that I have finished CC, I've been getting -12 on LR sections! It's like I forgot everything I learned..taking June test so I don't have too much time. Any advice on how to get my LR score back up?

    0

Just finished the starter pack. Diagnostic 157, first few PTs after the CC I was scoring in the high 160s but the last 5 have gotten progressively worse scoring 160 on the last one and I feel so disappointed in myself. BR is also all over the place ranging from 166-175.

During quarantine I was studying ~45-60 hours a week but a few weeks ago I went back to working full time (50 hours a week) so I've been trying to study all day Saturday and Sunday, wake up at 4am to study before work, and study for an hour or so after work and I'm just getting worse.

Between PTs I keep a journal of every question I got wrong and what I was thinking when I came to the wrong answer, rewatch CC for priority areas, and make problem sets of questions in priority areas I've gotten wrong in the past.

None of this seems to be helping though. My best area is LG but I always tend to get 1-2 wrong from making stupid mistakes (although this last PT was such a stupid mistake I got almost every question wrong on one game). The issue for RC seems to be timing; it just takes way too long to thoroughly go through a passage while keeping different concepts (especially science) in mind. And for LR I'm constantly falling for trap answer choices.

I'm so desperate to know what I should be doing differently and for any advice. To anyone who took the time to read this, thank you so much!
