I'm registered to take the July 15th, 2019 LSAT. With today being the deadline for any "Test Date Changes," I'm having some anxiety over whether I should push my testing date to September.

I'm working for a law firm full-time, and I really can't afford to quit (in a financial sense) so I've had to confine my studying to nights and weekends. I've been doing fairly well with that since beginning around mid-March, though I definitely find myself drained by the time I sit down to study Monday - Friday and, as a result, I'm know that I'm not getting the most out of my study time.

I'm also aiming for a 170+ on test day and, although I've hit 171 on a recent PT, I've been averaging a 163 since March. Based on this I really don't feel like I'm ready to perform my best just under a month from now.

The only thing that's kept me from changing my test date before now is the unique opportunity presented by the July 2019 test - to see my score before cancelling.

Does anybody have any advice about whether it might be worth it to take the July exam (and hope for the best) then plan to cancel if I'm not happy with my score and sign up for the October exam? (since I've heard the September test won't be an option by the time my score comes in for July).

Will the October iteration be too late for a solid shot at applying EA to many top schools? And since the July circumstances regarding the cancellation option are so unique, I'm wondering how schools would judge a July cancellation...?

Basically, would I be better off changing my test date to September - or hoping for the best with the July test date?

Thanks so much for any feedback!

I am sitting for the July LSAT, as most of know, we are allowed to see our score before deciding to cancel it. I was wondering what score would be a definite cancel? I have a LSAC weighted GPA of 3.75 and would really like to have ANY LSAT score on file (even if I plan on retaking in November) so I can send out some applications for ED. I do not mind going to a tier 4-5 law school if worst comes to worst, as my REAL need is scholarships. I am under a contractual obligation to take the July LSAT (free prep material from my undergraduate will have to be payed back if not taken by July) but I just graduated in December 2018 and barely got to LSAT studying in March. I am a non-tradition law school applicant, I graduated HS in 2003 and decided to go back to school 10 years later after being in the business world. I am a first generation college graduate and of course a first generation potential law school student and would appreciate any and all advice, as there are so many conflicting posts/threads online. My PTs ranged from 134 in March to 147 as of last week. Of course I will continue to use my Princeton Review prep materials until test day. I would like to know if I should cancel a score if I plan on retaking in November? Is it okay to have, say a 150 on file and retake it in November in hopes of getting a higher score?

Thank you in advance 7Sagers

Hi guys - I'm having trouble loading the "Course" page on the iPad. The "Discussion" tab is also glitchy - it just shows a portion of the last discussion I viewed (can't fully scroll through the entire discussion). Is anyone else having this problem? @studentservice

Hi everyone,

I have a question about seeing the word typically, and I know that I have specifically seen this word in LR questions and I'm wondering what we can take the word to mean. For example if a stimulus says that "Winners of a Nobel prize for science, who are "typically" professional scientists..." how should we interpret this? Does this mean most, many, or some other amount? I am leaning towards interpreting it as most, but I'm not sure if this is logically correct. Additionally, if the word "often" is used in the same way how should it be interpreted?

On the last few PTs I have experienced a strange trend on LR. When I take the actual PT, I encounter some LR questions that I am uncertain about the answer choice but the answer choice I select is correct. For some of these same questions, I find my self selecting the wrong answer choice during blind review. The most stressful part of this experience is I have not been able to identify a pattern in terms of question types or question difficulty. Really the only pattern is that is happening more frequently.

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you overcome it? Is it simply a lack of understanding?

It is quite easy for me to finish logic games in desired times after 2 or 3 attempts. I have an extremely good short-term memory for inferences, and also, I do them back to back to back. Usually I don't go over 5 attempts for a logic game, unless I clearly am forgetting inferneces and not finihsing in desired time. However, if I wait two or three days to do it, then I forget most of it and would not be able to get the same results.

Is this common?

also, which one is better? to do 10 all in one setting? or to do them in 10 different days?

Good evening,

If I am scoring individual sections from an exam, is there anyway to use the analytics/scoring feature to grade only one section -- as opposed to scoring the other sections as incomplete? I intend to use older exams to drill LR and LG, and am not finishing the exams in one sitting, rather, just one section at a time.

Alternatively, does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to do this? I am hoping to identify question types that I am consistently getting incorrect.

Thanks!

I am planning on taking the July 2019 LSAT simply because of the advantage to see then dismiss or keep my score even though I know I won't be ready. The LSAT I am preparing for is the September or October LSAT but I also want to do my best on the July LSAT. Does anyone have any advice on what sections I should prioritize for the July LSAT? I do not want to cram a bunch of stuff over the next month, but I want to be prepared as possible so it is not a complete waste of time. Any study tips?

P.S. I score the lowest on my RC.

If I don't finish the LG questions in CC within the ideal time frame - should I redo it until I do and get all correct and feel like I own it, or should I move on and do this process later on in the drills?

Just feel like I would be spending a lot of time on CC if I wait till I own every question, and these questions are going to appear again in PTs and drills anyway.

As I take more LSATs still under 10 preps tests I am noticing I am getting best sections but can never string together a great whole test. Is there any advice on the best ways to string together whole tests because when I train individual sections I can get down to -2/-4 rather easily. Is it smart to string together multiple sections when I practice between doing whole pretests? Also is it worth using newer logic games than training with old ones?

help can someone explain why this is B? It seems clear that the director did in fact infer that some others did like the movie, and its seems like he did fail to take into consideration the number of positive (i.e., 0) and negative (i.e., 10) responses received re: the movie reviews

I just scored my first 170 on a timed PT 69 or usually I score 159-165 with a BR score of 173-175. I'm just so glad to make this break through, but I want to know what tests should I be taking. I want to take the test in July and mayyyybe September if I don't get 168+ What tests should I take now? I was thinking to take evens 70s-80s just to keep the odd ones incase I need to test in September.

Hey 7Sagers, I'm leading BR calls for PT 66 Reading Comprehension.

There will be four sessions total.

All sessions will be from 9pm - 11pm ET. Please see detailed schedule below.

What happens in these sessions?

We'll read the passage together, paragraph by paragraph. I'll ask you to make low resolution summaries of each paragraph. We'll use those low res summaries to build higher resolution summaries. Then, we'll answer the questions together.

How should I prepare?

Have a clean, unmarked copy of the PT ready in front of you so we can read and answer the questions together. Please wear headphones and try to be in a quiet place.

Hi- I have been focusing on NA questions, and was looking for quick ways to identify answers. I had some trouble differentiating between (B) and (E). The right answer is B. My question is---- Will the answer in Necessary Assumption Questions follow the format below?

answer---------> conclusion which is equiv. to ~conclusion---------------> ~answer

The question is below. I have diagrammed B and E.

"People who browse the web for medical information Admin edit: Please review our forum rules. Please don't post licensed LSAC materials."

(B)

~Diagnose medical cond. do more harm----------------------------> rely exclusiv. on scientific info

~rely exclusiv. on scientifi info------------------------------------> Diagnose medical cond. do more harm

vs.

(E)

Diagnose medical cond. do more harm----------> rely on quackery

~rely on quackery-----------------------> ~diagnose medical cond. do more harm

Which one of the following is an assumption the argument requires?

I've been scoring lower on my PT's lately than in the past couple weeks. I have went from several 166's and a 168 back down to 158-162 over my past several PT's. I have had some more trouble focusing as of late, and have made more dumb mistakes, especially on logic games, than normal. Anyone have advice on how to get my scores back up and past my high scores?

Just like title, I can't find a better way to word this. What I'm trying to ask is, how long would it take after I take the LSAT to get everything ready for admissions and application. Or, when is the average cut off for fall semester application for law schools.

Sorry if this is a common question I looked around a bit and can't find a satisfying answer.

so,

If I take the lsat on 3/30, 2020, would it be in time for the fall semester?

Thank yall in advance!

Hey Guys,

Just wondering what you guys think about the October 2019 LSAT being on October 28 this year. Would it be a bit too late for applications? I have a very very suboptimal GPA so I want to get my apps in sooner rather than later.

I'm preparing to take July 2019 LSAT. And i guess the consensus is I can't use the freebie for September. Sooooo October LSAT too late for an "early application"? It is basically situated at the end of October so...

30.4.1

I broke down the argument

Premise: Healthy Nation --> Free Speech --> Best Interest

Missing Answer: Government --> Best Interest

Conclusion: Government --> Free Speech

How does "Free speech is an activity that is conducive to a healthy nation" translate into "Healthy Nation --> Free Speech?"

It looks to me it translates to "Free Speech --> Healthy Nation"

Edit: delelted some words, added a new question.

As of today, I have been studying the LSAT for exactly one year. I graduated university two years ago and spent one of my post grad years abroad, and upon coming home rushed to take the lsat and did very poorly. The lsat for me is really my last hurdle because everything else (GPA, softs) are in place, and I was really hoping to do well to get into my dream school.

However, I find myself extremely exhausted and wondering how long I can keep this up. I have finished my internships and don't work, and study as much as I can because I do want to do well and push myself sometimes to study 8 hours in a day (unhealthy, I know). I score in the 160s and my average is about a 163-165. I have noticed the newer exams are much harder. I don't want to forget all I have learned, but I used to enjoy waking up early to study and now I wake up exhausted and wanting to go back to sleep. I was scheduled for July but decided to postpone because of my mental and physical exhaustion, and the fact that I haven't hit my goal score (the highest I have gotten is a 167, but want to break a 170 and do so consistently before my exam).

I am wondering if people have any advice about what to do. Should I:

A) get a job and just push the lsat to the back-burner & postpone law school for another year, and start studying when I feel ready again and not so tired?

B ) get something part time and continue studying

C) continue as I am doing right now (full time studying) and try for September and send in all my apps

I have always been extremely motivated and a go getter. But something about the lsat is bringing me down. I won't give up, but just feel how I am now isn't conducive to doing well on the exam.

Any advice would be appreciated.(3(/p)

32.4.4

I'm having trouble breaking down the lawgic in this arugment.

I did:

Viceral emotion (VE) always able to Express that emotion (EE) Always able to express anger (EA)

I thought I was looking for VE --> EA

but, answer choice "B" was EA --> VE

Apperently the argrument is read:

Premise: Visceral Emotion ---> Healthy to Express

Conclusion: Anger ---> Healthy to Express

Which leads: (Anger --> Visceral Emotion ---> Healthy to Express)

How come it's not (Visceral Emotion ---> Healthy to Express --> Anger)?

How come I'm reading the conclusion as: (Healthy to Express --> Anger)?

EDIT: I think I figured it out.

"Always" as a logical indicator introduces necessary group 4.

Premise: To express a Visceral Emotion it's always Healthy

Conclusion: To express ones Anger it's always Healthy

"Always" introduces conclusion.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
