I'm taking the January LSAT and it was suggested to me I do a couple of practice tests in the morning (8:30AM when the actual LSAT starts) to get as realistic of an experience possible before the actual exam. Today I took the June 2007 exam to get a feel for it, and my score tanked from my average (162) to a 156. So I'm kind of freaking out.

LR was fine, and pretty much how I usually score. My average is -4 and in the two sections, I scored -2 and -5.

My LG was a complete disaster. My average is -5 and I got -11. Could this be because it's an old test?

My RC was also unusually low. I'm not the strongest in RC in general -- I average 7.. but this time I also got -11. I attribute it to being tired in the morning which is something I'm going to work on these next few weeks before the exam.

I'm really looking for guidance as to whether or not the LG games on this exam are unusually difficult, or if this is a sign that I need to improve in the section all around.

Hello!

I worked for two international companies remotely, one based out of NYC and the other in LA, from India. Both of them were in the publishing and consultancy domain so they don't have any actual physical space in my country. In fact, I was the only person in India working for one of the companies. I am wondering what geographical location should I put in my résumé, that of the company or where I lived(and worked).

Thank you! :)

A couple months ago, I posted some of the best personal statements I've ever worked on. It turns out that all the applicants but one were splitters, so I've updated the post with permission from the writers. (The essay by the non-splitter is now in our admissions course.) If you haven't seen these yet, check them out for inspiration!

I’m retaking in March and have full time available to study. I took the test in November and received a 155 with a PT average of 157-160. I’ve tried self studying with the Bible’s at first but found them a little overwhelming. Then, I used a tutor who was very helpful in getting the basics down but still find myself having issues. I know what my weaknesses are: reading comp as a whole, timing in LG, necessary and sufficient assumptions in LR, LR questions that are in difficulty 3-4 (Q’s 17+ on test usually). I’ve started blind reviewing and keep a log of each question I got wrong and right and why I got it wrong versus why the right answer is right. My goal is to get a 164+ on the LSAT and get into the University of Minnesota at least (I have a 3.89 GPA).

I was wondering if I should take a 7sage course or continue studying on my own? I should mention I have every PT available and PDFs of question/game types still from my tutor.

Hey gang!

I'm sending out my apps this week! In some of my docs---resume, a couple of schools' personal statements---I pushed the margins out pretty wide, .5 or .4 on all sides. Anyone know of ad-comms being annoyed by wide out margins? To my knowledge, none of them say, "1 inch margins all around" but they do say "12 point font, double spaced" which I have.

Thanks for any feedback!

Is it pointless to purchase the LSAT Trainer if you already have ultimate+ and access to all the drilling material 7Sage has to offer? I'm retaking this year and one aspect of my studies I want to change is focusing more on drills.

Does anyone have an example resume? I am struggling with how to properly outline my resume to encompass all of my academic work and my professional accomplishments (since I have been out of school for 4 years). I do not want to leave anything out, but I also do not want to overwhelm the admissions team. Thank you and any help is appreciated!

I've just learned that if you indicate you are scheduled to take a future LSAT, then Boston University will not begin to consider your application till that score is in, even if you already have a previous LSAT score. For the January test, this puts your application on hold till late February.

BU's median score is a 166, and my current score is 164. Should I ask them to consider my application now with the 164? Or, what anticipated score would be worth holding off on the application for?

Hey 7sage,

Did y'all change the way the Analytics page works or something? I put in my answers for PT 20 LR S1 and when I hit ENTER, I can't see the answers I put of my BR answers anymore. It doesn't show them. Is it just my computer? Or it's just PT20? What's up?

Thanks!

7Sagers,

On Wednesday, January 16, at 9 p.m. ET, I’ll host an admissions webinar with brand new material. I’ll start with last-minute application tips, and then a couple other consultants will join me for live lightning consultations.

:star: :star: If you want a lightning consultation, put your question in the comments. Include any context that we'll need to help you. The more information you give us in advance, the more time we'll have to help you. :star: :star:

:cookie: After the webinar, we’ll give one attendee a free Edit Once.

:warning: You’ll have to register for this webinar in advance.

→ Please register for the webinar (Jan 16, 2019 @ 9:00 p.m. ET) here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/13299d81300b5148dc2040ba88984b7b

I could not figure out why this is a circular reasoning...or my understanding of CR is too mechanical?

the conclusion is "....ought to do C..."

the only premise is "it is better if C happens"

the flaw I thought was the switch from the descriptive language to the prescriptive one

I want to challenge in the following example ( https://classic.7sage.com/lesson/basic-translation-group-1-flashcards )

Each and every member of Q is omnipotent. Lecture tells us M is SC and O is NC.

However, if we use venn diagram (from set theory) and sorry for the long explanation but I cannot post pictures or draw here.

it raises questions.

Q1: Out of M or O, which "IS" the bigger set ? A1: we do not know

Q2: Out of M or O, which "cannot" be bigger than the other ? A2: M cannot be bigger than O because .... "Each and every member of Q is omnipotent" but are all omnipotent set members members of Q ? Obviously, not necessarily .

Well if Q2, A2 is right than why is O not the SC and M the NC ( not by logic but because whatever is left should fit in the remaining slot )

Hey guys,

I need some assistance with my logical reasoning improvement?

So yeah- basically what occurs is: I do the exam, Blind review, then I still miss -4--6 per LR section post BR.

Once I view the videos, I immediately recognize why I miss the things I miss. (Rarely is it due to me completely believing that my answer choice is so accurate, but rather that I don't translate complex conditions properly i.e. if A then B unless C or If and only If (anyone want to point out a good CC lesson to re-watch?), or it's due to the fact that I didn't focus on the right premise + conclusion tie-ins, or just didn't read an answer choice at all...)

Do you guys have any advice for someone like me?

Anyways, Thank you so much!

Do you guys skip questions in RC?

If so, do you come back to them at the end of passage or do you do the section as a whole and address skipped questions later?

If not, why don't you skip (unless of course you are extremely good at RC.)

Hi all! :)

I'm new to 7Sage and wanted to get some advice from all of you. I purchased the Ultimate+ package with 6 months out to my LSAT date (July 2019). The Study Schedule generator produced a pretty intense schedule with roughly 32 hours/week of studying. When I adjusted the generator to produce a 25 hours/week schedule, it pushed out the end date to September 2019. I work full time (with some flexibility), so I'm trying to be more realistic with my schedule and study for about 20-25 hours a week.

Any advice on lessening the hour commitment per week but still getting quality content? Any advice in general for folks working full time jobs while studying? Has anyone here taken the Ultimate+ package with 6 months out until the exam.

Invited to an optional interview as part of the application process. First availability is 2 weeks from now, and pretty slim pickings at that. If I signed up for the interview the application wouldn't be considered complete until after I did the interview. Do you all think it would be too detrimental if I did not sign up for one? My stats are 3.3 and 162. Lewis and Clark Medians 3.38 and 158.

Hi Guys,

So I've been having a hard time getting over the awkwardness of reaching out to professors I haven't spoken to in 1-2 years to ask for law school recommendation letters. The professors I plan to ask, have written recommendation letters for me in the past and have also agreed to serve as job references for me. However, it's been a year and a half since I've kept in contact with them.

Since I do not know if they are currently still teaching at my old undergrad, I'll have to reach out to them via email. Do you guys have any suggestions, tips, advice for the best way to go about requesting letters from them? I am afraid they will just flat out say no or ignore the request, which would leave me VERY stuck.

To add, if they do agree, I would like them to address specific aspects of my applicant profile such as participation in Mock trial (which they are aware is something I participated in). Should I send them some of the work I did in their class in the initial email request? I did receive As in both classes, and although I may not have been a standout student, I did well in their classes and I would be someone they'd remember. Perhaps I am overthinking all of this.

Nevertheless, any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

I was just looking up the LSAT dates for 2019, and although I knew about the March date, I was looking for an alternate just in case. I saw that there are June and July LSATs but I can't seem to find info about whether or not those are for Saturday Sabbath observers only...anybody know?
