I just finished PT 47 and got -10 in section 3, LR. -3 on the other LR section. Having study for LSAT for a year.

It is simply so discouraging that I still get -10 in an LR section after studying for a year and ton of drill. Especially that LR is the section that I spent most of my energy on, because it has 2 sections in the exam and it is almost impossible for me to get 170+ with -3/-4 per section. (-0 in LG but not strong in RC)

-10 is not normal performance for me. Most common performance for me is around -4/-5/ per section. But, in a set of PT, I often have a good LR section (~-3) and a bad one (~-8). Sometimes I do pretty well when I thought I was not in good mood (e.g. feeling sleepy at night), and sometimes I do pretty bad when I thought I was in good shape. I don't quite understand what my performance is telling.

For timing, I finish a 26-qiestion LR section for 30-35min (yes my speed also fluctuate). I always try to apply "low-hang coconut" rule, but I never finished quick enough to have a full 2nd round, and I still feel stressed on the 2nd round. Plus, most of my errors hide in the questions that I did not circled.

For the questions I got wrong, I can recognize the error of 90%+ of them pretty quick and without watching explain videos. I think the problem is not that my logic is weak, but my mindset/approach to the questions is problematic. As to question type, I do worse in argument-type questions, and better in RRE/Disagree/labeling questions.

I think I am on a changing in my understanding of argument-type questions. I used to seriously read every single word in the questions stimulus, try to understand the topic. But a week ago I start to realize that what really matter is the relationship between P & C. It's all about logic reasoning structure. But I haven't convert this understanding into a test strategy. Should I go on PTs or should I do some drill? (for the question from PT 40 or earlier, I am so familiar with them that I almost remember them...) Would love to hear some advices from somebody that have gone though the process.

Thanks a lot in advance!! :)

I feel so defeated right now, and I need some advice. I've been studying for this exam for a little over a year, and I feel like I need to reexamine my study methods. I've taken 23 PTs (including my diagnostic) in total, with an average PT score of 155. The following is my breakdown of the averages for each section: -7.1for LR / -7.9 LG /-10.6 RC. Looking at these numbers in conjunction with the amount of time I've been studying makes me feel so inadequate. I feel like crying as I write this, but I feel like I need to be as forthcoming as possible.

I've tried to follow all the wonderful advice given on this forum and it has, without a doubt, helped me to better understand the underlying concepts of this test. On a positive note, my BR score has been in the high 170s for the past 10 PTs I've taken, an indication, if any, that I'm grasping the concepts. I think it's important to note that I am very meticulous with my blind review method. I have literally hundreds of pages of notes and explanations for problems I've missed. Nevertheless, I still find myself struggling to perform at my best during PTs. I've attempted to remedy this by taking timed sections in between PTs, as well as drill specific question types. I've also implemented skipping strategies during timed tests which has allowed to get through all the questions with a couple minutes to spare at the end of each section. I have seen some improvement in my score. I have been scoring lately in the high 150s with even a couple of PTs in the low 160s. This has been a confidence booster, even though they maybe outliers.

I'm starting to think I just have really bad test anxiety, but I don't want to chalk it up to that just yet. My frustration has led me to try and control other aspects of my life with the hope that it would give me some edge during PTs. For example, I've picked up meditation, I've started going to the gym regularly, and I've completely cut out alcohol from my diet. I'm not sure if these changes have helped, as I've been unable to discern any drastic changes in my score since I've implemented them.I'm struggling to not succumb to feeling so defeated, but it's really hard not to.

With that said, I'm determined to not give up. I've invested waaaay too much time. I just feel rather desperate right now and need some advice. My BR score does give me hope that I'm understanding the material, for the most part. I just don't know what the fuck is happening during my PTs. Does anyone else have similar struggles?

Can any grammar geeks out there please explain how the sentence structure of answer choice B works? How do I know that "that species" is referring to the bacterial species and not to the antibiotic species? I understand that species inherently means something alive and perhaps I am being naive in assuming antibiotics can mean alive as it's name implies death of living things. However, on a purely grammatical level, the subject of the sentence is seemingly the antibiotics so anything coming after a comma that comes after the introduction to the subject should thus be talking about the subject. Am I off about this?

Hello all, I'm new to 7sage, still in the free account (unfortunately, found out about 7sage after signing up for another in-person class $1400).

I officially started studying and classes mid-April, and didn't realize at the time that I would not be prepared for the June test.

My diagnostic came out to be 149. I study every day, at minimum 6 hours (which includes 3 PTs a week, reviewing, drills, homework from class, etc.) and some times up to 10 hours. I have no other commitments, I just separated from the military and going to Georgetown has always been my dream. At this point, realistically speaking, I'm so devastated my score is STILL stuck at the same place as I started about a month ago. I bought all of the PTs already and I have a lot of the conceptual knowledge down, but it's still not working out. One improvement, I guess, is that I can get through most of the questions (not correctly, but...) under a proctored PT, just leaving about 2-3 questions per section (still bad...), compared to leaving 6 questions or so in the beginning.

Is it even realistic that I can improve at minimum 10 points in the next two months? I know June will be a disaster, but hopefully "trying it out" will make me less anxious for the July exam.

I have my mind set pretty firm on July being the last exam because I want to apply ED for Georgetown.

My LSAC GPA is 3.72, and I am not URM. Do I even have chances of getting in with this low of an LSAT score?

*If anyone has any advice on getting into Georgetown or rather, how I should approach the school, I will most gladly take it.

What can I do to improve, what is my problem? Am I not studying smart?

I've already realized that I did not set up a realistic goal in the first place with an unrealistic time frame, so please help me out what I CAN do, rather that what I failed to set up or take into account.

This post is not saying that I am giving up, but I need to navigate to the right way in chances of doing whatever I can to increase my scores. This is a side note, but since I already have the PTs, should I still purchase 7sage?

I will really appreciate some feedback! Thank you for listening to my sadness...

Hey, everyone!

I'm putting together my resume for applications and am wondering how other folks have managed to handle their experience.

I have been working for 2 years FT post-graduation, but had internships throughout my undergraduate career (every semester and summer) that were all relevant to pursuing law.

If I include my two full time jobs and 5 internships (one includes being hired as a research consultant part time while still in school), I quickly take up one page with experience. The internships were - Global Attitudes Research Assistant (consultant position hired out of Global Strategy Internship) for an advocacy organization, Host Country Affairs Intern (this was with the State Dept. at the US Mission to the UN), Public Policy & Affairs Intern at a LGBT health org, Paralegal Intern at an impact litigation organization and Legal & Public Policy Intern at an alternatives to incarceration court.

Does anyone have any feelings on this? Is it fair to include each of these and maybe just limit the bullets to 1 or 2 for the internships?

Hi all!

In the phrase "It is the national government that must save the environment"

Why is it that "save the environment" is not the necessary condition?

and rather

"save the environment -> national government" is the correct logical translation to this sentence ??

Intuitively I can understand why,

but it would help greatly to hear a clear explanation of the usage of "must" in this sentence

Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone!

I wrote the June 2017 exam and scored much lower than my average PT result, and after not getting into my first choice school I've decided to retake when I'm ready to score in a higher range. I'll definitely be following the core curriculum and study plan 100% when I get back from a vacation I have planned, but I was just wondering if anyone who's retaken the LSAT over a year later has any tips on getting back into the zone here?

Thanks so much for any answers, and happy studying!

I am signed up for th June lsat. My recent scores have been 165, 168, 169, 169, 171, 165, 170, 173. And then today I got a 164 on pt 72. I know sometimes we just have bad days but I went into this test rested and confident, I just don’t know what happened. Trying not to let it bring me down but I am experiencing some anxiety for sure with only 3 weeks left to go. While I’ve hit 170+ several times, I just don’t feel solidly there and would be pretty bummed if I score below it on test day. Sadly July is not an option for me as I’ll be abroad. How should I proved. LR seems to give me the most trouble, today I missed a combined 14 Questions there alone

Hi Guys!

This is my first time to study the LSAT and have never bought any resources. My target score is 170. I have some philosophy background including logic but it was very elementary logical arguments. what would be the the right steps I need to follow?

Thanks

I finally broke 170 today after quite a few tests stuck in the high 160s. I'm still aiming to score higher, but it feels really good to pass a notable benchmark.

What has gone well for you as of late? Anything click, or any personal records for scores on PTs, or any culinary successes in your procrasti-baking?

Note:

For everyone: take the PT under timed conditions; BR as you are able on your own; then join us for all or part of the call—everyone is welcome.

Note: For the purposes of the call, we like to check our group blind review score together at the very end of the call :) So at least don't say ... "No guys, really, it's D, I checked it.” KEEP THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOURSELF. Win the argument with your reasoning.

These groups work best when folks from ALL stages of prep and with all different goals join in! Not just for "super-preppers" and definitely not just for the casual LSATer (does such a person exist?).

The only expectation anyone has for these calls is for you to have fun and ask questions as you desire. We are just a bunch of LSAT lovers who gather via GoToMeeting and intellectually slaughter each test.

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had any experience with accommodations? I have a hand injury that makes it tough to write right now. It's on the mend, but I'm not sure what it will be like when I plan on the Sept 2018. I'd like to see if anyone has had to take accommodations out and what their experience was like.

Rock on!

Hey all,

so i hear of ppl who for RC comparative passage, they first scan the answers and see if there are specific questions that relate only to ONE passage. they then read that ONE passage, and then do the questions for that passage also.

Then, they read the second passage and finish the rest of the questions.

Question: what is your strategy for RC comparative? Do you read both passages back to back? or do you first glance at the questions, see if there are any questions that only address one passage (sometimes i know all the questions address both passages), and then just read one passage first and then do the questions?

Thanks.

Are takes essentially unlimited now in the sense your highest score matters? Some people have been questioning this, and I was one of those people. However, schools incentives are too look at the highest score. And since this is a test that one can get better at and also since someone's score is really a range, it seems that it would just make sense for them to take the highest score and move on. Thoughts?

Okay so I scored a 162 on PT 71 and 178 on BR.

Stats:

-6 S1

-0 BR S1

After recording, I noticed something alarming. On LR Section one I spent:

13:47 on just 4 of the hardest questions (I got all right)

6:15 on the 6 questions I got wrong.

All of the questions I got wrong I spent around a minute on each. I spent very little time on the questions I got wrong that I didn't think were hard and much more time on the perceived hard questions.

You guys need to record yourself taking PT's to see where you're sinking time and maybe not spending enough time.

Does anyone have any more tips for recording? What to look for? How to tweak my strategy?

I just did my first untimed LR section(s) following months of focusing on the LR section of the curriculum and I am honestly stunned. LR was always my weakest even in BR and it feels like I've finally made progress.

I went -5 (-3 BR) and -2 (-1 BR). I used to go at least -7 on one section of LR.

Part of me thinks maybe it's just an analomy or because I'd seen some of the questions before in problem sets or curriculum. I know it's just part of the journey since it's just one data point and doing it timed is a whole other issue but I didn't know who else to share this milestone with but my 7sage family (3(/p)

Hi Everyone,

Currently, I'm completing the full 7Sage course. I am now on the logic "lawgic" portion of the lesson. When I look at my study schedule/syllabus, however, I see that practice tests are not on there until I have completed everything else. Is this correct? Should I add in some practice tests between some lessons or at least sections (LR, LG, RC)? I feel like I will lose everything I learned if I wait to actually apply it. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

Hi all,

I'm having a hard time deciding whether I should take the July or September exam as my third (and final) take. I have two cancellations on my record, so ideally, I would like my next take to be my last and final one. If all hell breaks loose, I'm willing to take it a fourth time, but this is an absolute last resort (knock on wood).

I'm currently PTing in the mid 160s and I'm aiming for a 167 on test day. I'm really not set on a goal score because my LSAT journey has been rather long and tedious, with a lot of breaks in between, so I'm ready to conquer this beast once and for all.

My hesitation with September is that 1) I'm not a morning person by any means (as proven by my last two takes) and 2) I live about an hour's drive from the test center, which would add to the stress (I got an Airbnb close to the test center last time but had trouble falling asleep in a new environment).

I'm concerned about the July test not being disclosed because 1) I don't entirely trust the LSAC and 2) it would be nice to get some feedback for a retake if I get a really unexpected score.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you!

I did my first PT after finishing the core curriculum yesterday. I was pleased to score a 169 (-12) which is much improved from my original diagnostic- 157.

It's really encouraging to see that going through the CC has really paid off (especially after a shitty week of RC). I'm aiming to break 170 in June, so I feel like this is within reach now.

What's a little less encouraging is that my BR was... also a 169 (but -11). I'm primarily concerned with the 5 LR/RC questions I didn't even circle or think I struggled with but ended up getting wrong. Does anyone have any advice for closing this gap? I've been through JY's BR lessons but I just wanted to see if anyone has personal experience/tips for overcoming this. At least 3 of these questions were due to misreading the passage or part of the question, so after JY's explanations I understood the correct answer. I just want to get to the point where I can eliminate errors like this.

2

Hey everyone,

So, I have been studying on and off for lsats with 7sage because I had school earlier.

I also only studied individual question types through the cirrciculum of 7sage (strengthening/weakening) did not even get through whole cirriculum yet nor had i completed any practice tests...except one last summer - i don't even count that because i was not going in with any strategies. Anyways, thats the context, but I recently took a practice test times and my diagnostic score was 140.

I was very upset with this. But I took in to consideration that I barely completed some sections due to my speed/time.

I barely understood any logic game...and guessed on all of them.

If i study hard for the next 3-4 months (7 sage cirriculum) and do PTs for 1 month - do you believe I have potential to reach atleast 160 - 165 atleast?

I am unsure of wether that will be sufficient time to write the Sep. lsat -

any advice?

thank you all for any suggestions, appreciate it!

0

do you guys watch all of JY's LG videos for every single logic game you do? Even for LG's that you got right under the estimated amount of time? Would love to hear any thoughts/advice/pros/cons. thanks so much.
