@NicktheGreek no. Maybe if you're applying to Canadian schools. And maybe for the T10 schools - or for early decisions in most cases. But otherwise, the scores would be back by Feb 1st, and it might not be the firsttest taken for the cycle, either.

Feeling immense disappointment, like so many Jan Test 7sagers today. My PT avg.was a solid 163 leading into the test and I fought insanely hard to get there. Actual January testscore ended up being 156. It hurts.
Agree with the other comments. You're not in a rush to apply, which is a huge luxury, so take the test when you feel ready. As someone recently posted (don't remember who it was exactly), study to a testscore, not a test date.
