Thank you so much for posting this!!
Also, I changed my name from lord_farquaad to christinejay and 7sage still randomly uses both interchangeably. Same person, y'all. Love those loopholes.
Josh and Sami chat
On being an aggressive RC test-taker for more points
Being aggressive doesn’t mean reading fast
Both Sami and Josh often say that they are slow readers
You especially can’t read too fast on RC reading
Read and think deliberately; act decisively
Also be aware that most 170s+ scorers realize they will miss 1 or 2 questions every section
Don’t aim for the 180; no one does. Too much pressure and needless anxiety.
RC is also something that will always feel uncomfortable for Josh and Sami: timing considerations for each passage are extremely rigid
The aim is to be okay with the discomfort
Josh never ever tries to get all of the questions correct. Went -0 on his fourth official LSAT anyway.
Audience question: What happens when you get a RC question wrong timed and with BR?
Analyze. How much time did you spend on it in both scenarios?
Did you not understand it? Why?
Was it worth it to get this question wrong? Did you go and do easier ones you circled instead when timed? Or did you waste 2 minutes by stubbornly doing this super hard question and then didn’t go back to easier questions you flagged that you probably could have gotten right?
In remaining time left in LR, invest time in the easier questions. (same also applies in RC)
Sami suggests reading challenging literature topics that could be passage topics on the LSAT.
Science, art, history, law, social science. Go find magazine articles/books that challenge your reading comp.
Reading The Economist is also excellent.
You should always be willing to skip hard questions to get one or two other easier questions correct that you aren’t sure about!
Hey guys- I am going to paste my notes into the thread below. If any future people want to see what Sami and Josh talked about years from now, then you are in luck. Here you go, future people. God speed. Don't give up.
