Do you like PrepTest equivalent? Do you find it useful? Please let me know in the comments.
To get ahead of questions:
How does PrepTest Equivalent work?
Rather than just scaling up your wrong answers, we use the difficulty of each specific question (calibrated on years of 7Sage data) to find the 120–180 score that best explains which ones you got right and wrong. (This is a form of Item Response Theory, the method behind standardized-test scoring).
How accurate is it?
It's reliable for full sections, but fuzzier for drills. The shorter the drill, the rougher the estimate.

I agree with many comments on that it is a great tool to measure progress and get an idea of how the LSAT varies its scoring so it is ingrained in the test taker. I do, however, think that including the actual score scales off of LawHub for PTs would be great to have as an index for comparing test performances.
If I got a 20/25 on PT 146.S1, for example, I would like to compare that to the full PT scale so I can understand, relatively, where that's putting me overall for the score, while keeping the PT Equivalent as a way of indicating that my performance can be a variance given the different testing scales.
I think my view is more I like getting down to the analytics of how I am doing versus a practical inclusion, but I still think it would be nice to have for those that want it.
Personally I'd like an option to turn it off- I find it anxiety-provoking 😭
Keep it.
I love it
Yes so helpful!! (also shows how much more studying I have to do....)
Doesn’t help for short drills
I really like it, it is helpful and motivating
Yes I love it , please keep it . Even though it’s a rough estimate, it still gives me hope of that I can perform in my desired range with consistency.
The PrepTest Equivalent score is one of the most useful statistical features that 7Sage provides!
While I agree that the estimate may be slightly "fuzzier" for a drill than for a full-length practice test, it is nonetheless a very informative metric for me to gauge my performance by tracking my score consistency when doing individual LSAT practice sections and drills. Also, when I first began my LSAT studies, I noticed that my PrepTest Equivalent score would sometimes vary even if my performance was the same (percentage-wise) as another previous practice session. This essential observation helped me understand that the score variation depends on the difficulty distribution, enabling me to specifically target my high priority categories for questions with increased difficulty levels, which used to be more challenging for me to navigate.
In my opinion, the PrepTest Equivalent score is one of the most critical features on the 7Sage platform. For this reason (among others), 7Sage is my main and preferred LSAT prep platform because all the other study platforms that I have used don't provide a similar performance estimate, making it more tedious for me to measure my progress. Please always keep the PrepTest Equivalent score🙏 Many thanks to the 7Sage team for your dedication to providing such excellent LSAT prep services and for your kind help!
I like it but also don't care for the reminder. Damned if you do
I think it should be available only for sections and >10 questions drills
I have a question, is the preptest equivalent on adaptive drills (not the pre-set ones) similar to an RIT score on a computerized adaptive exam like MAP? How does the adaptive drill determine which question to put next?
I like seeing the prediction!
Love it! Helpful in gauging where I'm at before taking my weekly test.
Sometimes makes me anxious, lol
It is a really great and smart feature, but I would appreciate if I could have the option to turn it off. Sometimes the inevitability of it on my screen can actually be de-motivating.
fewer stats please. I'd like to turn this off, and peek @ score while we're at it.
I'd like the option to turn it off. For me, it's motivating on a good drill day and not motivating on a bad drill day. I'd rather get a sense of where I'm at off of my actual prep test scores as opposed to a handful of items that may or may not be necessarily reflective of my own progress.
@cattail8148 I agree. it's also very variable. sometimes mine will be high and other times so low that i'd never get that score on a pt unless i guessed on everything. also, it will show up for something as short as a 5 question drill which is a heavily unrepresented sample!
YES - I love it
One of my favorite features
I really like this feature. I agree with others who have commented that it boosts motivation.
yes i love it
I appreciate it. It definitely helps motivate me. Is there any chance we could see the PrepTest Equivalent Score after Blind Review as well? I think it would help keep me grounded in why I’m studying and encourage me to continue practicing if I could see how much my score would improve by getting just 2, 3, or a few more questions right. Seeing that potential improvement would be a great motivator to keep pushing forward.
@boomboom Yes this would be amazing
I love this feature. It keeps me motivated and it’s a ballpark pulse test in between prep tests. I think it would be helpful for many to make it clear that it IS a rough estimate. And I do find it is less accurate/telling on smaller drills.
Truly one of my favorite added features.
I generally find it a little distracting and easy to get hung up over. But it's definitely a nice idea and maybe would be stronger if it gave a range rather than a static score.
