Was wondering about the extent to which essays forming part of one's application have to be re-done in respect of re-applications. I did engage a consultant last time around and submitted my applications with a full suite of school-specific/optional essays, and would prefer to minimize the amount of re-work I have to do, this cycle. I am given to understand that: (a) applications of re-applicants are attached with their prior applications while being reviewed by admissions committees; and (b) it is advisable to re-write at least one's personal statement. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

I'm hoping to apply with an LSAT score in the early to mid 170s to the T-14. I'm taking the January LSAT. Depending on how it goes, I might consider deferring to the next admissions cycle (though I'm strongly averse to doing that for a variety of reasons). If I do score above the 75th percentile of the schools to which I apply, would it be worth applying this cycle, with rewritten essays (to the extent required)?

All apps have that question and obviously Dean's list etc goes on. What about awards and distinctions from extra curriculars? I mean things like sports disnitctions or maybe choir/drama like a special distinction or award for performing arts participation/commitment? Would it be reasonable to include those here?

Am I allowed to use notes during the planning period to answer the questions? I'm thinking that possibly for some of the questions it might be helpful to look at some of my planned answers during the the 30 second planning period before actually answering.

I recently scored a 158 on the October LSAT and am taking it again in January with the goal of 165. I know that you can only apply to a school once per year, so I am tempted to wait till after seeing my second score. But, I have also heard that some schools will delay their decision until your second score comes in. Thoughts?

I interviewed with UVA a little over 2 weeks ago. It went well and they told me they'd get back to me "very soon." I've heard most people who are accepted to UVA get a phone call no more than a few days after the interview but I haven't heard anything. Really stressed over this... UVA is my top choice. Any words of wisdom?

I'm wondering if applying in February after the January test would significantly lower my scholarship money offered at mid tier schools? Like if I get a 160 on the November test, and my top school has a median LSAT of 157, do you think I'd get more money at the normal deadline, or would retaking and getting a 163 in January put me in a better position to get more money at the same school? I probably won't retake if the majority of money is used by most programs by February. Thank you for your help.

Is it a good idea to reuse personal statements from previous application cycles? Long story short: I applied during last year's cycle (2020-2021) but decided to work a year and reapply during this cycle (2021-2022). My statement was well-written and even received positive feedback from my colleagues and peers. That being said, should I go through the process of writing a new one or just edit/revise/add to the one from the last cycle? I wanted to confirm that it doesn't put off the admissions reps who may have previously reviewed my application.

I was recently offered admission at a school for Spring 2022 but I'm signed up for the January test and want to see if I can better my score?

Would it be okay for me to ask them to transfer my offer to Fall 2022 instead?

7Sage and other sources have UPenn down as doing ED interviews; however, all the questions are for 2018-19 (I read somewhere that 18-19 was the first year for these interviews). Anyone know if UPenn has done such interviews in more recent cycles?

I have seen different opinions online for whether one should write an LSAT score addendum. Let me begin by saying I know my score isn't representative of my potential in law school. I graduated 3rd in my class in college and have a 3.97 GPA but I just really suck at standardized testing and English isn't my first language.

With that being said, my October test went terrible and I had a proctor who would move my mouse (he had remote access to it) while I was highlighting the reading passages and took me out of the screen when I was doing LR, (the screen went from LSAT to a random tab). He also took about a minute away from my LR because he logged me out after I pressed "start this section." I did re-take in November however, and I got a score lower than both my other tests! Maybe I was burned out, I don't know. I didn't have tech issues though.

Any advice on what to do?

I noticed that some law school applications have a diversity question separate of the diversity statement asking you to list any diversity characteristics that you would like to provide. From Washington University's application portal:

Please list any diversity characteristics that you would like to provide (cultural, sexual and/or gender minorities, disabilities, age, religion, immigrants, socio-economic, etc.). Applicants may also attached an optional Diversity Statement to their application as an addendum. (maximum characters 300)

What is the purpose of this short section? Is it to quite literally list out one's diversity characteristics, as opposed to writing a narrative about them? I have a diversity statement prepared, which I plan to upload. Please let me know your thoughts on completing both the short section and diversity statement.

I have an idea for a personal statement structure. I want to introduce 3 events that all taught me the importance of a single virtue. Would it be a bad move to have 3 paragraphs talking on 3 different events?

I am not sure if this question is even necessary but I'd like to know what people think.

I am taking the LSAT one more time next week (January). I expect about a 152-154. This would be an improvement from a previous try of a 146 (I took this test in a difficult environment). I secured a hotel room for this exam so I am confident now.

My LSAC GPA is a 3.66. I am not targeting the highest schools but I want to attend this Fall.

I enrolled in a ABA Paralegal Certificate program last year in January because I am interested in it as well as wanting more exposure to law and if law school would be something I wanted to pursue. Within a few short weeks, I knew this was what I wanted. It's been in my mind for many years but I never felt ready to pull the trigger until a few years of work post-college. Anyways... the question...

If I scored a 152 for example, would I be able to write an addendum. The reason I ask is because I began my studies right after the first semester (the program is basically two - 15 credit/5 classes per semesters). Obviously during my studies for the LSAT, I was also doing the full time course work. I completed the certificate last month.

Could I write an addendum for a slightly lower LSAT score due to the conflict of juggling both? I have a solid undergraduate GPA of 3.66 and received a 4.0 GPA for the paralegal certificate. (10 classes, all A grades).

I ask this because honestly, the LSAT is not my strongest attribute, however in a more real world setting involving actual cases, legal research, documentation, case briefs, memorandums, etc I clearly excelled. It was not easy to balance the full course load, the assignments and projects, with the studying overall - though I did it!, but is this a worthy addendum? I believe it is but idk. I know I have a solid foundation with legal information already but idk how addendums work.

Sorry for the long "sob" story but I really would appreciate any advice. I have uploaded the transcript of the certificate classes to the CAS system as well already. Thank you in advance!

I sent all my applications in December, and I've received 2 WL so far (albeit they were reach schools). The other 10 target schools are pending a decision, and I wondered if it's too late to send additional material like a diversity statement to help with my application? I just thought of an excellent topic for my diversity statement and am unsure if sending it will be beneficial for my application. (I also feel very sure that this statement is much stronger than my personal statement, I just regret not thinking about this topic back then).

If it's not ideal for sending a diversity statement now, should I wait until I get WL to send the diversity statement along with a LOCI? Or am I just too late?

Hi, I applied to schools and September and wondering if a LOCI would do anything at this point considering i haven't heard back in 3 months. Or are LOCI only for waitlist.

Looks like Columbia only considers score from LSAT taken after Jun-2017 as valid for this cycle.

This is a big difference than ALL T14 schools and LSAC itself that considers any score from June-2016 or after as "valid" for current cycle. (The rule is score has to be within 5 years prior to current cycle so that makes anything after June-2016 as valid).

I'm at the margin with a lsat score from Fall-2016 and was planning to apply.

Anyone with experience with this situation?
