I just thought of this today and wanted to know if it would be an issue, the place I have been practicing for the LSAT in and where I plan to take it from is an upstairs room that doubles as a storage place for all my parents useless things that they don't want to throw out but do not need currently. Examples are scrap books, non perishable food, suitcases, pictures and some more things like that. The room is big and in the center I have my big desk I have been working at, nothing around me is of any academic value but will I be required to move things out of the room?

The last sentence reads "The device is not yet used by a large percentage of car owners, but in cities where only a small percentage of car owners have the device installed, auto thefts have dropped dramatically."

I was very confused when reading "dramatically"; I thought it simply means an obvious drop in auto theft. But the size of the drop is still unknown---it can be small or huge. So I was struggled to spot a discrepancy.

Or, doe "dramatically" mean more than half of all auto thefts were dropped? I checked its dictionary meaning "by a strikingly large amount or to a strikingly large extent; greatly."

Any comments or insights would be really helpful! Thanks.

Hi guys, I've been struggling with this question. I chose E. I know that JY explains this by saying we don't know if this use of parathion happens in real world or is it just in our experiment. But doesn't the last paragraph explicitly say that the experiment results are "similar in field planting of strawberries"? Doesn't this show that it indeed happens in real world, that some people indeed used parathion to eliminate T and eventually caused C to reach a damaging level?

I am having the hardest time with this section. Can someone please help me understand. I understand the concept, but when it comes down to bridging the gap between the conclusion and premise its gets kind of difficult for me. When I come across problems that have a conclusion and premise that takes up about 2 lines how am I suppose to shorten and diagram it ??

Hi all! I am really struggling with RC and am missing 5 to 10 questions in the section and need to strategize better. Does any one have any recommendations for improving? There was a very comprehensive post made by someone on RC strategies a few months ago but I cant find it. I mostly struggle with hard art history passages, and then science passages but usually the questions in the science passages are easier even when the passage might be harder to read. Do you recommend using any additional resources? and if you have used additional resources then when did you start seeing improvement? how long did you work on the RC section before seeing any improvement? any advice or suggestions will be really helpful!!

Ram usage

I did an equipment test while signing up this morning which resulted in :

Maximum RAM usage is 95%. Your current RAM usage is 99%.

Learn more about ProctorU's CPU/RAM requirements…

Trying to test my equipment in advance of the April LSAT and every time I refresh the system metrics page I just end up on the same page. I tested my equipment without issue in advance of the Feb exam and then on test day ProctorU couldn't access my camera. After two hours with their support I ended up having to reschedule.

I have a brand new laptop, am using Chrome, have cleared my cache, checked permissions, everything appears to be fine. I literally have no idea what the problem is. Wondering if anyone else has experienced similar frustrations and if so, were you able to fix the issue(s)?

Any tips/advice would be much appreciated as I'm honestly at a loss with this damn thing.

Thanks, all.

Hi all!

I am planning to take the exam with my MacBook Air, but I heard from a friend who did the same last November that the experience was disastrous...Is it really that bad? Could someone share his/her experience? Thank you!

Hi,

I don't understand why B isn't the correct answer choice for this question. The passage says S and O "make a distinction between this type of uncertainty and that known as "chaos". To me this is pretty clear the mentioning of "chaos" is in order to show that the physical irregularities in S and O's model are not the same type with the ones in "chaos", thus I chose B. I just don't think D is very convincing bc it's not just a matter of degree of unpredictability— this unpredictability is totally a different type.

screen size doesnt matter?

does the actual lsat look different on a larger screen? im thinking about using an external monitor for the exam instead of my 13" laptop and was wondering if that made a difference in the viewing area?

In lesson 16 of 18, we are told that "some people say" is not part of the argument, but in the explanation to Exercise 3 in Lesson 16, we are told the phrase does introduce the author's argument. Could we get a definitive answer from 7Sage or LSAC about this seeming contradiction?

PT11.S2.Q24 - Political debt

Help! I’m having a hard time ruling out B, C and E. Try to work with my analogy. I get overwhelmed after spending too much time with the stimulus.

Since Hillary Clinton always pays her political debt as soon as possible, she will almost certainly appoint Donald Trump to the supreme court.

Donald has wanted the job for a long time and Secretary Clinton owes President Trump a lot for his support in the last election.

I honestly did not know what to think and went straight to the answers. Any tips?

a. If Mrs. Clinton has no debt that is currently longer than the one owed to Mr. Trump, and it could be suitably paid with a seat on the court then, there the “almost certainly” holds. If we negate this, we’re saying Madame Secretary has owed Joe Biden, Kevin McCarthy much longer and they could be suitably be appointed to the bench. The id!ot in me stopped during BR and realized that if this is true, how can I convince myself that Trump’s appointment to the court is almost certain? Eliminate.

b. I eliminated this because the magnitude of debt doesn’t matter. Say maybe, Speaker Pelosi introduced Mrs. Clinton to her biggest donor at the time her campaign was at the brink of extinction, but Speaker Pelosi isn’t suited for the court (because she has no legal background).

c. Trump is the only person who Mrs. Clinton owes who would be willing to accept her appointment. So far, my reason to eliminate this would be that his willingness to accept the appointment could have no bearing on her appointing him. Maybe she wanted to go after Obama, who wouldn’t willing accept it as first hand but could be convinced to. This doesn’t make the assumption a strong one. The acceptance could have zero relation to her decision of appointment.

d. True. Heck, he became president.Negating this and viewing him as a highly qualified candidate doesn’t do anything to the argument.

e. “The only way.” Absolutes are always a red flag for me on NA. THe stimulus says, the debt has to be paid. Whether is adequately done, sufficiently, insufficiently or unimpressively done is not my business. As long, as it’s paid.

Should I cancel my score?

Hi everybody. I just got back my results for the 2021 Feb flex. I am not happy with my score, and I have the option to cancel it as I am a first time test taker. My question is should i cancel my score?, and if I do, will it impact me negatively in any way?

thank you

Hey all! Random technical question. My (pretty old) Macbook Air is on El Capitan 10.11.6, but the Proctor U website says the minimum is "MacOS 10.13 (Oldest Still Maintained Version)." Should I be concerned? My computer is definitely still functioning, not quite sure what they mean by oldest still maintained version.

Anyone have experience taking it on an operating system like mine?

Thanks!

April LSAT Flex Signup

I just got an email saying that we register for April LSAT Flex timeslots on Thursday. For first time test-takers, do we get to create a ProctorU account before Thursday or can we only do that once timeslot registration starts? Thanks!

I think that this is one rare occasion where 7sage doesn't do a great job of answering the question. #19 choice A isn't wrong because insular is incorrect (quite honestly it might be a better choice then misguided) however understanding the term "cosmopolitan" is the key. Insular and misguided are both not wrong, however admirable is also not wrong, but cosmopolitan is. I think this explanation needs to be changed.

So I ended up getting the question right but only due to process of elimination.

PC(--some--)MB (I just reversed MB(---) PC)

PC-->P-->I

Inferences

1.PC-->I

2.MBC(--some--)P

3.MBC(---some--) I

A. Inference 3

B. Inference 3

C. Contrapositive of inference 1

D. Inference 2

E. Correct answer due to elimination (But I don't understand the answer entirely)

  • Some irritating and beautiful cats are not Persian Cats Contrapositive of P--->I is /P--->/I which is half the answer then /I(---)MBC(---)/P which seems valid. I'm a bit confused
  • Thanks!

I’ve spent 40mins on this question. Can someone please help me to see if I’m making sense. At this point, I’m googling everyday vocabulary I come across in LSAT cuz this test will make you question your understanding of words you use everyday. The whole stimulus has me confused so I attempted to explain it by anaology. Here we go:

Fashion insiders have defined a supermodel as a highly paid, Instagram model.

Ok, but these two do not go hand in hand so what’s the tea?

A 90s model can be highly paid-doesn’t make her an instagram model.

Correspondingly, you can be an instagram model and not be highly paid.

    This definition then is wrong.

If the definition is wrong, does it mean we're trying to argue that both go together?

Whoa! Why such a hasty conclusion?

For such a conclusion to hold means there has been some kind of violation in defining what a supermodel is. It requires you to be highly paid, but if the author is concluding on the relevance example by 90s models, then it depends on the assumption that the definition requirements have been violated.

    a. 90s models were never instagram models. For NA, I tend to steer away from absolutes but here, if this is true then the conclusion isn’t wrong. Why? Because we’ve covered what it takes to be considered a supermodel. So it’s not the assumption. I honestly don’t know how I’ll be able to rule this out under time constraints.

    b. 90s often become instagram models. So? Often? How often? Even if very often, do we know about their instagram affiliation?

    c. 90’s models who are highly paid and IG models. If i’m violating the premise here by saying these highly paid models were also instagram girls, this assumption supports my contention that the meaning of supermodel is wrong. If we negate this, 90s models who are highly paid are not IG models. Baby the conclusion isn't wrong then-which wrecks the arguement.

    d. 90’s models who are instagram models are highly paid models. This is reversed.

    e. Throw this answer in the trash. It’s wrong in all forms.

While you're here, drop me some good luck and positivity. I've been at this for a year and I still don't see the light. My entire life savings for 11 years is almost all gone because I decided to devote my all to this.

    Hi,

    Regarding PT28-S3-Q26:

The conclusion in the stimulus is drawing attention to the arguer's behavior is irrational.

The conclusion in the answer (D) is one should not dismiss the argument by pointing out the arguer's behavior.

There seems to be a mismatch between descriptive and prescriptive; how come these two argument patterns can be seen as similar to each other?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

So I'm preparing for the April flex but I've been taking full (4 section) PTs as I study and I've noticed that on my past 4 PTs I've consistently scored better on the 2nd LR section, sometimes significantly better.

These recent PTs were all in the 80s and I've pretty much hit -1 on the 2nd LR every time. I know I won't have a 2nd LR on the flex so idk if I should take an LR section (or half of one?) the morning before my test or something... Anyone else the same/anyone have any advice?

    0

Since I don't have an paid account, please pardon me to ask a PT-related question in this manner.

Here is a part of the second paragraph:

"Ellison found these criticisms to voice a common demand, namely that writers should censor themselves and sacrifice their individuality for supposedly more important political and cultural purposes. He replied that it demeans a people and its artist to suggest that a particular historical situation requires cultural segregation in the arts. Such a view characterizes all artists as incapable of seeing the world--with all its subtleties and complications--in unique yet expressive ways, [...]"

I don't understand how could Ellison inferred that the criticism made such a characterization "all artists as incapable of seeing the world_--with all its subtleties and complications--in unique yet expressive ways,".

Those critics attack Ellison by saying Ellison should devote more to a political change and to a distinct African American style. Where is the characterization about all artists' incapableness of see the world?

    Thank you for the help.
