111 posts in the last 30 days

I'm taking the November LSAT, and where I used to feel confident I could reach my target score (170), my last three tests were 169, 169, and 167 today - and it's freaking me out!

My average of my last 10 PT's is 168 - an average which includes a 165, a few 167's, a few 169's, a 171 and a 175(!). I don't even have a solid pattern of which section screws me up the most... although my RC has started to get consistently WORSE over the last few weeks... for no discernible reason!?! I'm just not doing as well anymore on the hardest questions for RC and LR, and I'm not sure how to improve on that account.

Can I get some advice for how best to spend the next two weeks to reach my target score?

Replacement Rule Questions

So I have been seeing a trend in my PT's about Logic Games for Replacement Rule Questions. Let's just say no matter what I do, I never get them right. And also find that those questions, for me at least, are time consuming. Can you guys share some tips or tricks which can help me get the answer correct and in less time?

Thanks!

Josh @"Cant Get Right" mentioned he had a LG flow chart in one of his webinars, which basically discussed his systematic thought process he applies to each LG. He mentioned he was willing to share it. Does anyone know where it is? Would really love to take a look at it as a study tool. Thank you!

Fool Proofing Logic Games

Does anyone recommend fool proofing games one at a time, and not moving to a new game until having mastered the game you're working on? Or, alternatively, is it better to work on a set of, say, three or four at a time?

Search for speed tips.

I have an adequate understanding of the material. I am relentless in my reviews of my LR sections. When I see a question I have a clear strategy. My issue is getting through the questions quickly enough. I neglect about 2 questions in each LR section, though not completely, but I end up having 30 seconds for each. It is just not enough.

Any tips? I am sure there are plenty of people that encounter this issue. I do not have a natural affinity for speed reading. It is killing me that two the difference between -5 and -3 in a section is just due to speed.

hey all

so i've been noticing a trend where for every LR section, there are about 2-4 questions where I'm down to 2 AC's (a wrong AC and the right AC), and I often pick the wrong AC over the right AC.

This is very frustrating because sometimes I feel like I'm just rolling the dice between the 2 AC's (and that I was so close to getting the right AC). Any advice or suggestion to deal with this?

I think perhaps I should just get in a habit of skipping these questions once I'm down to 2 AC's, and then try to come back to them?

The challenge is I often have other questions (like 2 or 3) that I had no idea how to do and I completely skipped that I return to do during round 2, and then don't have enough time to review these questions where I was just down to 2 AC's.

So for priority for Round 2...

Should I

Plan A:

  • First go and redo questions I completely skipped and had no idea how to do?
  • Then go back to questions I was just down to 2 AC's and increase confidence level to pick one?
  • Plan B:

  • First go back to questions I was just down to 2 AC's and increase confidence level to pick one?
  • Then go and redo questions I completely skipped and had no idea how to do?
  • The challenge is that often the 1st step in each plan takes a solid amount of time, and I run out of time to fully do the 2nd step.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

I consistently am getting -5 wrong on LR sections. However, most of the times those wrong answers are from Flaw and Weakening questions. I am blind reviewing, looking at explanations, and writing down each questions I get wrong with explanations as to why I got those questions wrong. I have done LR sections untimed with writing down the premise and conclusion along with timed, and I'm still stuck at around -5.

How do I get better at these questions? I feel like I'm doing all I can. Am I just doomed?

    LSAT Accomodations

    Hey everyone,

I was hoping someone could help. Essentially, I applied for accommodations due to lingering effects of a recent concussion I suffered. I was seeking accommodations for the Nov 17 LSAT in Canada. Although, I was granted the accommodations my test date has been moved to the 19th which seems a little odd. I have 2 questions; firstly, will I still receive my score at the same time as other Nov writers? Secondly, will I get a different version of the exam than individuals writing on the Nov. Anything helps, thank you once again guys!

I am thoroughly confused by this question.

The correct answer just explains why TI remains ordinary. But why does that even need an explanation?

I thought the discrepancy is why TI is more popular than M despite TI being ordinary. Hence, wouldn’t the correct answer have to strengthen the mitigating reason for why TI is more popular?

The premise only talks about how TI’s location attracks customers, but it doesn’t address if that makes TI more popular than M. So I was looking for an answer that would suggest that the location is a significant factor in determining TI’s popularity, significant enough to render its ordinary food less relevant.

I am having some trouble comparing A and B to each other. I believe the flaw itself is that Sid is confusing the consequences of a hypothetical with just one person walking across the grass. Can anybody shed some light on A and B?

    Hi all,

I have always thought that it is extremely selfish to vent to one's peers, since imposing all these negative emotions without asking for consent first is basically equal to taking advantage of innocent people (at least for me). But this time, I really need some advice, for I am drowning in this pool of hopeless frustration originating from LG drilling.

Everyone keeps saying how LG is the easiest part to crack, and how you will see (tremendous) improvements if you are dedicated to exercising repeatedly. And by no means am I questioning JY's fool-proof method to LG, I am just extremely disappointed time after time when I think I nailed the game by repeating, but got stuck again when I encounter another question of a similar level of difficulty. It certainly feels impossible for me to finish all the questions within the time constraint, and I begin to constantly question my capability. I have been searching, and am looking into the chances of taking GRE as a change. But that makes me feel like I am running away and probably, I don't have what it takes for law schools.

Woo looking back I realized how a first-world problem complaint this is. Although in my defense, the pain is very real. I would appreciate if anyone can share with me any advice, in relation to boosting LG power, GRE/LSAT, or simply how to stop this self-loathing.

    Good luck to everyone!

I created this thread so that those taking the test in Asia, Australia and New Zealand can discuss the test! (Sorry, I should have made this before the test in Europe, Middle East, and Africa )

    Test Dates:

  • Europe, Middle East, and Africa: Saturday, October 6, 2018
  • Asia: Sunday, October 14, 2018
  • Australia and New Zealand: Sunday, October 14, 2018
  • Score Release: Wednesday, October 31, 2018

    Rules:

✅ Asking questions like “Was the LG with "flowers" experimental?” is okay.

❌ Don't mention specifics like "the 3rd LG was sequencing."

Please mention the region you took the test in (“I took it in Asia”).

The test is coming up and I must say, I'm starting to feel a bit discouraged. I do feel a huge leap from my initial (137) in June of last year because now I'm consistently scoring 149-151 but on PT 38 about two days ago, I scored a 156 which was my best yet. I was very happy, but today I took PT 39 and scored 149. BR'ing and finding it extremely difficult to focus and I'm just doing terrible. I'm not sure if this is just a really difficult exam for me, or if I'm just burnt out? Anyone have any advice, I'd really appreciate it. I think I'm just worried the test in November will be even more difficult than this PT 39 I did. I just felt confident and now not so much :(

    Final Sprint

Hey all, as tomorrow marks the first of November, I was wondering how the other November test-takers are spending the last 2.5 weeks before the big day. I'm trying to avoid burnout, and am taking a PT every two days. At this point, I'm almost struggling to find motivation in the face of the fact that the next 2.5 weeks cannot make or break my score. How are you guys staying motivated?

    Quick Veiw

    Hey Guys!

I have taken various PTs (60-78) and have used the grader section of 7sage to grade them. If I purchase the starter will I be able to quick view all the questions I got wrong? Currently it shows a lock, but I’m not sure if the starter may unlock a quick view for pt 72 for example. It says analytics is unlocked with the starter and just wanted to confirm this. I would do the Ultimate but I can only afford the starter. Thanks!

I've noticed that sometimes there's an appealing-seeming AC in LR, oftentimes early in the ACs (like B or C), that will "seem" kind of right (but maybe too strong or wrong for one reason or another), and then, when I go through the remainder of the ACs, it's harder to see them in a disinterested way as that experience of being kinda impressed by B for instance will lead to a less rigorous interpretation of the other options and a sort of confirmation bias where you don't want to seem wrong in your initial assessment of B. Any solutions for this?
