Just took PT 84 - wondering if anyone found the LR kind of weird? Not hard per se, but for example PT 84 S2 Q2 (an NA) was more of a soft NA answer? They are usually a lot more clear. Idk maybe I’m just being picky but I found there were a couple questions where the answers were a lot more subtle to me.


Anyways, onto PT 84 S2 Q11

I knew AC was right but crossed it off because I thought it attacked a premise. Looking back it appears I misread the stimulus.

The premise says: “Many features ..." Admin Note: I deleted the premise and Answer Choice C as it is against our Forum Rules to post LSAT questions on the Forum.

And AC C says: "Excessive blinking ..."


I thought that the stimulus read “excessive blinking is not such a feature of confidence” (rather than saying "blink rate is not a feature")

My question is, if it had said what I thought it said, would AC C have been an attack on the premise like I thought it was?

Hey guys, so my LR score finally has been improved (well sort of), I have been doing some times LR sections from prep tests 1-15 and I usually spend about an hour or an hour and a half on each LR section, I've been scoring either 14/26 or 16/26.

In general, for each question type I am not consistent in my scoring (for example, the test could have 3 or 4 Resolve Reconcile Explain questions and I'll get 1 or 2 right and the rest wrong). Another example, for MC questions if there is a sub conclusion and I noticed that LR timed sections have these, I won't be able to figure out which is the exact main conclusion (see question 4 on prep test 15 as an example).

There is no one question type I am good at, but I notice that the harder the level of difficulty the more likely I get it wrong.

How can I improve my score to at least a 20 and should I be doing timed sections? I am not really sure what to do next.

Oh and if anyone PLEASE has or knows of any resources that can help me improve on Weakening, Flaw and Necessary Assumption Questions that would be great because they are my biggest nightmare.

Before entering the PT's in the 80's, I used to blaze through the LR questions and would get -4/-5. Obviously, not perfect but a solid result.

But once I entered the 80's, my LR started dipping and I end up getting -7 to -9. I took a step back and tried to see what's going on.

I'm starting to find that a lot of the flaws and assumptions in LR in the 80's are still the same, but they are disguised with more convoluted language, both in the stimulus and in the answers. This has forced me to have to slow down now and really untangle the language in both the stimulus and answers now.

Is this something people have noticed or am I just going crazy? Lol.

I used to love blazing through the sections, but am wondering if I need to slow down now to attain accuracy on the more recent PT's.

Hi everyone,

I've just completed the MP and MSS lessons and was wondering...what do you all do when you 96% understand a lesson? I did some custom problem sets from the question bank, and was getting all right except 1 or 2 of the ones designated "hard" or "hardest" every section...do I move on to the next lesson? Do I stay here on MP and MSS? What else can I do to make sure I 100% understand this before moving on?

When the president of the company responds that the number of salespeople passed over has declined, does that mean the total number of salespeople must have declined over the last fifteen years as well? Is that an additional assumption along with C?

Facts:

1.) We found titanium in 2 Bibles: (JG and B-36)

2.) Titanium in 15th century Vinland Map (purportedly)

Conclusion: B-36 must have been printed by JG and Vinland Map is from 15th century

Flaw:

Is it wrong for the stimulus to conclude the B-36 Bible must have been printed by JG because that assumes Titanium was rare enough so that it can be traced back to a specific printer? But I don't see what is wrong with using Titanium to prove VMap is authentic. Does VMap have any relationship with JG?

One of the things I hate about taking the test with my laptop is that I had trouble visually following my cursor (harder compared to an index finger over printed text). I've been trying a few prep tests with a customized cursor -- a big blue circle highlight around my regular arrow and wondering if I can take the January test using the same settings. I know this is small issue but I fear getting disqualified. Has anyone tried this? How did it go? Is this even worth trying with all the ProctorU nightmares I've been hearing about?

Hey all!

I am pretty sure I understand what JY means but I have never encountered a question where it is okay to independently strengthen a hypothesis without strengthening the support between premises and conclusion.

In JY's explanation for PT 89.S2.Q3 he talks about the question stem and mentions how some (rare) strengthening Q's will say "what most strengthens the hypothesis" (as oppose to "what most strengthens the support between for the hypothesis",) in which case, he says it is okay to pick an answer that doesn't necessarily make the premises more relevant but could be something random that just makes the hypothesis more likely to be true.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any examples of a question like this from a PT? I would like to see it just to ensure my understanding is clear.

Hey everyone I tried searching through the forums to see if there were any hits and I didn't see anything but I am a little confused on general principles. I am doing pretty well on the method of reasoning portion of the curriculum knock on wood but one area that I've noticed myself wasting too much time on are on answer choices that mention something to do with the argument using a general principle. I've been getting in the habit of quickly attempting to come up with an example of whatever the answer choice is and then comparing that to the argument featured in the stimulus that I have summed up in my own words but I keep second guessing myself on the answer choices with something to do with a general principle.

In the second lesson of the method of reasoning curriculum JY uses the "all jedi use the force" or "all apples are fruit" as examples for a general principle. That makes sense to me but then I'll see some stimulus's where either a premise or conclusion will say something that I think could be interpreted as a general principle and then that gray area is the source of my question. Most recent example was form LSAT 19 Section 4 Question 18 June 1996. I got it right during blind review but it seems like this is one simple fix I can make to tighten my shot group. Does anyone have any other examples of general principles or any tips on their approach?

I'm fairly new to 7Sage, but I am curious to know others' thoughts on this. Should I keep doing problem sets in a specific category if I am getting them right every time? Even without blind review? Not trying to brag or anything here, just genuinely curious of what others are doing.

I’ve been working through MBT/MBF questions and have experienced some difficulties. Namely, the speed that’s required for diagraming every situation. I have a solid understanding of the logic and, during blind review, am able to work my way to the correct answer. However, during a timed test I find it difficult, if not impractical, to completely diagram every stimulus. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Do any of you have strategies that discern when diagraming is necessary and when intuition suffices?

I know this is a speed test, and I’m starting to think that working through the logic of every question sends me down a time drain.

I’d be very grateful to anyone that could share their thoughts on this!!

I would like to know how do you dissect the principles of the answer choices which has no conditional indicator or universal quantifier?

I've some trouble in correctly dissecting the principle behind answer choices A, B, and D, since none of them has a conditional indicator or universal quantifier. I understood they are wrong because none address the situation when parent should not encourage their children to outdo others. Here, my focus is solely on how to dissect the principles of the answer choices which has no conditional indicator or universal quantifier.

I had tried to interpret their principles as below:

A- If something can make their children happy about it that they do well, parents should encourage their children to do so.

B- If something can help their children have easily satisfied desires, parents should try to ensure their children do so.

D- If something can help their children have important achievements, parents should ensure their children do so.

But in my review, I felt I had pigeonholed these statements into conditional statements. So, perhaps, their principles are just assertion without premises, like "Human should be kind." Assuming such statements are all valid, they would imply that any subject mentioned should follow the prescribed advice irrespective of circumstances. Again, I am not sure whether this is the correct way to discern the principles of A, B, and D.

Hi! I just kind of confused about how to apply the lawgic we learned in CC to solve LR questions in real life? I was just going over the valid/invalid argument forms and found it sooo hard for me to understand all these forms and apply them when solving questions. Looking for suggestions on how to fully grasp these materials and actually applying them... Thanks!

I was hoping someone can help me clarify this. So, I just bought the score preview option and i was under the impression that i just had to do it before my test release date (feb 3). But, after seeing that it allowed me to purchase it i just checked lsac website and it says the deadline to purchase score preview was yesterday. Im just wondering why it would process my order . was it a glitch ? or am i really signed up for it ?

Hello,

I've been studying JY's method of "knock-out" answers v.s "sneak-in" wrong answer choices.

And I'm wondering if it's possible for an answer choice to be BOTH a knock-out AND sneak-in wrong answer choice.

For instance, in PT 66, S3, G2, Question 11

Answer choice (E) seems to knock out a situation that was possible in the old world (e.g. PVROSTR) but also sneak in a situation that was not possible in the old world (e.g. RVRSTOP).

What does this mean?

What are your guys thoughts on prep-tests do you think its more worthwhile to do the whole prep-test or to do the Flex? And on a different note could you burn yourself out by doing too many tests in a short period of time? Would love to hear some others thoughts. Thanks in advance!
