@jcar787 be kinder to yourself, don't fall into the trap of belittling yourself just cause you do not understand something the first time around! These things are hard especially if you do not have any previous experience, give yourself some grace! practice practice practice and you'll get there!

@ZaynabNomair it would probably sound better if there was more information before the sentence

@JordanCheng180 if "the" is before a word it will usually be a noun that follows it. (sometimes an adjective then a noun) It is not a 100% guarantee like everything else in grammar but a good way to identify if it is being used as a verb or a noun.

@JenniferLewis also no experts but saying "why should I believe x..." after reading the whole passage and then re-reading has helped me a lot.
