June BR Group Schedule: http://classic.7sage.com/discussion/#/discussion/6171/june-test-takers-group-br-schedule-updated

Hope to see you there. I’ll be in and out of there for the first 2 hours.

Note:

  • For everyone: take the PT under timed conditions; BR as you are able on your own; then join us for all or part of the call—everyone is welcome.
  • Note: For the purposes of the call, we like to check our group blind review score together at the very end of the call :) So at least don't say ... "No guys, really, it's D, I checked it.” KEEP THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOURSELF. Win the argument with your reasoning.
  • These groups work best when folks from ALL stages of prep and with all different goals join in! Not just for "super-preppers" and definitely not just for the casual LSATer (does such a person exist?).
  • The only expectation anyone has for these calls is for you to have fun and ask questions as you desire. We are just a bunch of LSAT lovers who gather via GoToMeeting and intellectually slaughter each test.

    Hello 7Sagers,

I am currently working on weaken questions and I am having a hard time understanding the task. I understand that I am supposed to focus on the conclusion, but find the gap between the premises and conclusion ( with the ac) that will weaken the argument. However, it is hard for me to do this accurately because i feel its too much in my head and i get confused. What are some strategies you all use to stop yourselves from getting confused. Do you focus only on weakening the conclusion or something else? Can i think of weakening questions in another way?

Hi all, I have been trying to transfer some files to other note-taking application on my iPad such as notability so that I can jot down some notes as I listen to JY’s explanation. But unfortunately I haven’t been able to do so, and I am assuming it’s because all of them are protected PDFs. Does anybody know if we are allowed to do that in the first place? If yes, anybody know how? I find using this kind of note-taking app very efficient and helpful. Let me know if any of you have come a-crossed the same issue.

I've been studying for this test properly for about a year now, meaning that I've been taking practice tests and blind reviewing them. I've been somewhat familiarizing myself with the LSAT material for about two years now but only last year did I start taking practice LSATs. I've taken 20-30 practice tests until now. I was feeling fairly confident until I took my last three LSATs, which are recent. I scored a 164 on two of them and a 163 on one of them. When I blind reviewed those exams my score went up anywhere from a 170 to a177. I'm aiming for one of the top 20 law schools and, therefore, my score of 164 won't cut it. What do you guys think I should do? and do you think that I could potentially achieve my BR score on a timed LSAT?

    Thanks for your feedback.

I'm still confused as to how and why Jon's explanation in the video is used to express answer choice A is correct and answer choice C is wrong. I'm not following his logic in the video. Can somebody please explain this? Also there was a comment below the video that there are plenty of old LSAT questions with similar type of errors. I'm not sure, but can somebody point out those questions and the type of error? Thanks.

    New York 7Sagers!

A group of NY based 7sagers have arranged to take practice tests on Saturday mornings from now until the December test. I've been planning on doing those tests, but they are in midtown and would require me to get a much earlier start than I'll actually need on test day. I figured we may have enough Brooklyn 7sagers to organize BK practice tests for Saturdays. Anyone interested in joining me for a group practice test on an upcoming Saturday? I've been taking my practice tests in the quiet study area of the Grand Army Plaza Brooklyn Public Library but am willing to relocate!

Hi 7Sage! I love this forum, sorry to pester you all again with walls of text.

Background: I started studying the June 2007 test. I did well on the RC/LR sections but only got halfway through the second game of the LG section before I hit 35 minutes. I think I got three wrong so ended up 6/23 for the section. Since then my entire focus has been on logic games. I've probably printed out some 40 games and completed them under timed conditions, and I've read the entire Powerscore LG Bible. I still can't complete 4 games in 35 minutes consistently. It's easily my weakest section despite putting all my focus on it.

I knew there was no chance I could study for the February exam with school going on so I decided to take last December's while I was traveling so I could see where I was at. I missed an entire game on the LG section (filled in all Ds for it so I might have gotten me a point or two) and scored a 166.

Since then I've taken 4 timed PTs and scored very well when I complete the LG section in time (172, 175) and worse when I don't (166, 167). Generally I lose very little on RC/LR (they're about equal losses for me) and that hasn't really changed since I started taking tests. That said I think the only way I'm getting accepted into a decent law school in Canada with my abysmal GPA (the program I'm in is terrible for GPA but that's another story) is with a T14 level LSAT. So I know that in all likelihood if continual drilling of LG sections is not improving my speed anymore I really need to be able to count on a -0/1/2 for each of the other three sections.

BUT I also know that reading about LGs dramatically changed how I approach them and how I think about them. In some ways it's good, in some ways I think it's actually slowed me down (surely a lot of my improvement can be chalked down to repetition). I am very nervous about studying RC/LR extensively only to destroy some innate logic I've developed before the LSAT or to slow down my reasoning as I usually finish those sections with 1-2 minutes. I'm also worried of making my logic formulaic (as stupid as that might sound), because the way I approach RC/LR right now feels pretty organic, and the way I do LG feels totally formulaic.

Of the questions I've gotten wrong, no type stands out. The only similarity between them is that they were all 4/5 star difficulty questions, but I have no types of question to drill/learn about specifically. So for anyone who has been at the point where they average -3/-5 or something like that on LR/RC and wanted to take that down to consistent -0/-2 did you manage it? And how did you go about doing it? Or if anyone found LR/RC came naturally to them did you find studying those sections specifically was actually detrimental? And if anyone thinks it's worth studying LR/RC, what would you say I should start with material wise? As for LG, is there any better speed improving strategy than to drill?

Sorry this is so long or if it all comes off as paranoid. I'm just feeling a little nervous after talking to schools and finding out the level of score I'll have to get to be accepted anywhere decent and am kind of lost on how to move forwards from here.

    Proctors: professional, efficient, courteous

What kind of room: small lecture hall. no windows. tiered seating. good temperature ~72

How many in the room: probably over 100 available seats but around 30 of us were spaced nicely throughout the room

Desks: frustratingly small flip desks. had trouble keeping all belongings (watch, pencils, etc) on the table comfortably. half the test booklet was hanging off the desk the entire time....pencils kept falling off... extremely distracting and annoying.

    Left-handed accommodation: yes

    Noise levels: very quiet

Parking: free across the street from the business building

Time elapsed from arrival to test: prompt, no irregularities

Would you take the test here again? i would not take it again at melcher hall because the desks were a deal breaker. however, if it weren't for that i definitely would recommend taking it at UH because the rest of the experience (proctors, noise, parking, bathrooms) were all exceptional.

    Date[s] of Exam[s]: Oct 2015

    Hello the amazing 7sage community,

I'm wondering if someone would like to have a look at my LSAT addendum explaining a score increase (more precisely, why I performed bad last time). It's only one paragraph/120 words but you might need to bear with all of my questions and concerns.

I'm more than willing to have a look at your essay in exchange for your kindness (maybe anything but a full PS draft for that paragraph lol, but if you also want to also look at my why school statement once I finish it ----).

    Thanks in advance!
