Hey everyone! I'm currently stilling taking PT in the 60s right now, but was wondering if there really is a big difference in difficulty for PTs in the 60s vs those in the 80s? As in will get it harder as you start practicing the more recent ones?

So when 7sage released the Flexifier for the PTs, I noticed a jump in my score in the two next tests (they were 2 out of my 3 highest scores). Since then though, my averages have gone back to where they were when I was taking the regular PTs. Should I take regular PTs again and then hope for the same jump on test day (taking August Flex)? Or should I just keep PTing Flex tests?

I've been going over correlation causation and it's closely related cousin phenomenon hypothesis arguments and I realized a very important distinction. Phenomenon hypothesis (hereafter known as PH) deals with cause and effect whereas correlation causation deals with cause and effect over time. Here's why this is important:

Nicole Hopkins has a great webinar in the 7sage archives about weakening and strengthening arguments. She says we can strengthen arguments by showing more data that A->B, block an alternate explanation C->A&B, or block no relation between A and B. I'd like to additionally state that chronology can impact an argument as well. If we say A->B, staying that A did indeed come before B strengthens the argument. If B came before A how could A->B?

The important concept I realized was that in many PH questions the above methods don't cut it. In 70.1.6, 70.1.12, and 80LR1.23, we need to use a different approach: if cause, we want to see the effect. If no cause, no effect.

The arguments say "here's a phenomenon, here's my hypothesis." This is implying a casual relationship between A and B. But if I show the effect with no cause, what happens to the hypothesis? It's weakened. If I show your cause with it's effect, this strengths. Too, "no cause no effect" is a very subtle way of strengthening an argument.

Hello All,

Does anyone have any strategies for getting the highest possible correct in the 35 minute time frame? For example, should I just do the 3 easiest passages and skip the hardest passage, or do 3 and a half passages? In LR, I tend to get bogged down easily so maybe skipping the hard ones and getting as much done as possible. If you have any strategies that have worked for you that would be greatly appreciated. I'm aiming for a 160...which allows for about 6-7 incorrect in each section.

Hi there,

This will be my 3rd time writing the LSAT, I switched to 7sage in the middle of studying for my second exam and love it, it has been way more descriptive/helpful. I have a question; visually writing down the SA + Pseudo questions does not help me (translating it into lawgic). In fact, I find it takes me more time and confuses me way more. I usually can get about 50-80% of the questions right (depending on the day) by just working it out in my head and eliminating answer choices. Is this bad? Should I re-do the whole translations portion of the course to better understand it going forward? I know some people have their reservations on this...Any suggestions would help! PS. I am aiming for the November exam as I was waitlisted at 4 schools (now 3 as one school emailed me and advised they are full).

Regardless of the overall difficulty of an LR section, I seem to always miss exactly 2 or exactly 3 questions. Easiest, hardest, doesn't matter. Even more frustrating is that one of them is usually a level 3 difficulty, and something I get immediately on BR and wonder "why the hell did I choose X over (correct) Y?"

In general, these incorrect choices are usually the result of me reading a convincing (but incorrect) answer choice wrong. I usually know in the moment that something is off, but I don't figure out the "why" in time.

How can I eliminate these fringe misreads that are keeping me from a higher score? What internal monologues can help me read answer choices correctly when I'm doubtful of my first interpretation?

I didn't realize it at the time, but what I considered to be my proactive, go-get-em study technique of making my own problem sets of Logic games to practice has now spoiled almost ALL of the practice tests I have access to! Doing the games in the test, I keep coming across ones that I have done before. Beating myself up right now, I wish I had thought to check if they were the games from the Ptests I was going to take in the future. It's still good practice, but I don't think my scores are genuine. Not sure what to do :(

PT1.S3.Q21

I've done this problem twice on two separate occasions, and predicted the wrong assumption both times. When I read the stimulus, I see a gap between the speed of the animal and the info. we're given in the premises, which is the energy afforded by surface area and the energy needed to be overcome by the weight. Could someone please tell me why this isn't a relevant assumption?

Never haven taken the LSAT or the LSAT Flex, can I ask, is there a visible timer that is counting down or just a five minute warning? Thanks! Also, can I use whatever color writing utensils I want now that they okayed mechanical pencils and pens? Whatever work paper I want?

I don’t know if anyone else has this problem but I can’t highlight anything when I’m taking PTs on law hub. I can highlight when I go on a desktop but on my laptop which I will be taking the flex on I can’t. Is the flex on something similar to law hub? I’m worried I wont be able to highlight on the test

Hi 7Sagers,

For the last two months or so, my only problem left is the RC section and inability to understand some minor details, I have been drilling RC passages and trying my best to improve my English proficiency by reading tons of Economists articles during free time. Are there better ways to improve English proficiency? Any success stories from other non-native speakers? If yes, how long did it take them to achieve desired English proficiency level? Thanks in advance.

Study group wise, I have been PTing anywhere from 169 to 175, mostly in the low-170's range. My goal is to break into the mid-170 level by October, and that pretty much means to get RC down to around -3 consistently. Please message if you are interested, and I am really willing to meet others who are trying to improve RC as non-native speakers or have been successful on RC as non-native speakers.

For those of you who have taken the FLEX, how difficult is it compared to previous exams? I know in recent years there have been more Misc LG that are hard, and it seems that the LR are becoming more tricky.

Is that trend the same for FLEX -- any advice on how it was structured/content?

Peace and love (3(/p)

Does anyone feel that they're woefully uninformed abt political happenings? I try to keep up with the news but I inevitably fall off for weeks at a time and I haven't watched the DNC or RNC this year. Do you guys spend time reading/watching the news? What are your favorite sources? Should I set aside 20 minutes a day or so to keep myself informed?

I've never fully understood why one LR section of the LSAT has 25 questions and the other 26, but I always find myself pressed for time on the 26 question version. Often, it seems like those questions aren't any easier to make up for the additional time constraint. I understand the questions on the FLEX are supposed to be 'balanced', but do we know if there is going to be 25 or 26 questions on the section? Thanks!

Hey guys,

So, I'm scoring around 164 range. I got down to -4 on LR and I constantly score -0 or sometimes -1 on LG sections. But, RC is literally a score killer. I just took a PT 37 today and scored -13. My average RC is -8. I'm glad that my LR is improving, but I don't know what to do with RC. It't not that I'm discouraged, but I just cannot find "techniques" to use for RC. I do low-res and high-res, but I just cannot understand the passages enough to solve the problems in time. Is there any RC experts who can share the methods they use during PTs?

I'm a suuuuuuuuper splitter (or will be come Sep 18th) and am feeling great heading into my first official writing.

My advice is keep going. No matter what, keep going. Life is not easy, neither is the test. When you are feeling down tap into your "why?"

As for knowledge find out what way of thinking about things works for you. Recalling my thoughts when selecting wrong (or right but uncertain) answers has been the biggest benefit for me. Also with LG, just trying to figure out "was there a better way I could have approached that game?" I don't necessarily look for the "most efficient" way directly, I more so seek flexibility in each game. Meaning, how many different ways could I have done this game? And more importantly, how do those thoughts apply to AR in general?

I'm pumped and no one else really understands the grind I've put myself through the last few weeks so I wanted to put the energy out there and claim it moving forward. I will master this test and you can too.
