You're assuming the OP intends to apply in February. You can take the exam in February and get it out of the way. The scores are good for 5 years. -

Both the September and December tests were incredibly similar to each other and had the same -12 curve as well. Most people were expecting atleast a -13 for this December LSAT. I would retake in February if you have time this month dedicated to studying. -

Mine was about two points lower than my average in February, and my average is now ten points higher than that so i will likely be in a much better scoring "band"
