Big Swings in Scores

166, 160, 166, 162, 151, 163, 170, 149 (First digital LSAT),162 (Jan LSAT), 163 (after a month off), 170, 159, 159, 162

I realize that one has good and bad days, but after getting a 162 on the LSAT while having 170 in the bag I decided to prep for April. I can write off my first score back as a cold start, but the quick jump to 170 and swing back down to the 150s has been soul crushing.

I got that 2nd 170 after starting 7sage and beginning to foolproof a couple of games most days. In the meantime I've been toying with keeping good pace on RC and LR and my scores have plummeted over 10 points.

I thought about taking a break, but after my first 170 the week before the Jan LSAT and my lowest score ever of 149 I took a full 60 hours off of studying but still only scored a 162. A month off after January only got me a 163.

My LG scores go from -0/-3. RC has swung from -2/-9. LR -2/-9

Kind of at a loss for what I should do or focus on.

Writing Sample Advice

Dear 7sagers,

I started prepping for the LSAT last Month and I plan on taking it in June 2021. I am making progress in all 3 sections and I am optimistic about the multiple choice questions part of the exam which is ultimately what makes up the score.

One thing that I have no idea about is the writing sample. I do not know where to start, how to prep for it, whether there are resources out there for it, its importance for admissions decisions, and its relevance and applicability to the material covered in the other 3 sections. Can anyone point me to a starting point so that I could at least have an idea of what to expect and what to do in preparation?

As an immigrant who moved to the states not so long ago, writing is certainly not one of my strongest suits. This is why I am particularly worried about this section and why I want to make sure I do the best I can to prepare for so that it wont be a hindrance in admissions decisions.

Any advice or recommendations is appreciated.

Thank you!

As I score higher on my prep tests, my BR score goes down!!

In the beginning I was scoring in the 159-163s but my BR was at a 175 and up. Now I'm scoring in the 164-166s but my BR is a 167-171!! It's so weird! Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm wondering if I'm just really doubting myself so I change my answers? But I have also been getting more questions than usual wrong in both the real test and BR. I used to only get 2 completely wrong, and now its 4-6. Help!! I just don't know what's going on or what to do lol.

What's unusual is I'm missing lower than ever in LR and RC, ~ -3 in both areas. This is where I'm having my problem. I'm missing lower than ever, BUT I still miss the questions in BR, and then I change the answer of questions I got right to the wrong one during BR.

I hope this makes sense. If anyone can relate or help....pls

How do you guys use 7Sage?

I just started using 7Sage from two weeks ago, and I'm wondering how other people are using this 7Sage. I started from the beginning, but it's getting really difficult when I came up to different types of questions in LR. There are a lot of problem sets, and doing the same thing over again kind of blow up my mind. So I somewhat left some problem sets for later to solve and went on to other types of questions. Would this be fine? or should I just finish every problem set without going to other question types?

Also, is it necessary to go over the lessons in order? I somewhat want to do LG and RC too, but since the lessons are in order, I feel like I have to go through the lessons in order (also because some of the previous lessons give lots of hints and learning for future lessons.

I want to know how you guys use 7Sage efficiently! Thank you!:)

Stuck in the 140's

Stuck in the 140's, I've been studying non-stop and I feel like my efforts are in vain since I'm not making any progress. Mostly struggling in RC and LG, don't know how to continue or what step to take for a better score.

Scores dropping

I've been studying since October and my original test date was Feb. My scores weren't increasing after a lot of tutoring, and on individual sections I was scoring great but altogether it was completely different. I pushed back my feb test date to April because my scores were not what I needed them to be. Right before I took a two week break I scored the highest on a preptest (159), and when I came back from break I was right back to a 153 (my diagnostic score). My goal score is around a 163, but lately I haven't been able to break 154. I am used to scoring about 18-20 on each section individually, but altogether it seems to be a lot worse. I don't know what's happening to my scores but they just keep getting lower since I took the 2 week break from studying. I don't know what to do and the test is a month away, I want to at least get to 160 before the date. Help!

I realize this sounds silly, but please understand I have a lot of anxiety that was 100% cultivated through academia. I currently have a full-time job that I handle perfectly well, but as soon as any kind of scores come into the picture, I shut down. In college, I mostly got around this by taking classes that were very heavy on research papers and essays, which I stress over less because I know I have time to ponder, take breaks, revise, etc, but timed tests... not so much.

Saturday I was supposed to take my first prep test, which I already delayed because I felt like I wasn't prepared enough to do so a week ago. Then — surprise, surprise — didn't feel ready on Saturday, either. So, I studied from the moment I got up, straight through lunch, straight through dinner, until it was 10:00pm and I realized I just had to bite the bullet. Of course, by this time I was exhausted, hungry, stressed, angry at the mere existence of the LSAT..... and (though I don't know my score yet because I am currently wrapping up the blind review) I am sure that I performed even worse than when I took the initial practice test, before the course began.

I know that I created a horrible situation for myself, but even with that awareness, I am also aware that I am very likely to do it again. I just focus so much on being 100% prepared and put so much pressure on myself to do well, that I end up completely sabotaging myself. And even when I try to take breaks, I just end up feeling guilty and stressed over the fact that I'm not studying. At this point, I'm honestly getting close to burning out.

If anyone has been kind enough to read this far — I would really appreciate some encouragement, shared experiences, or any tips you might have in terms of calming nerves, accepting failure, or just plunging into the prep tests, without putting an enormous amount of weight on doing so. And even if you don't feel like commenting, thanks for taking the time to read this mess, and I wish you the best of luck with the LSAT!

Hi! I managed to get a 172 on the January LSAT, despite not being in the best mental state. I'm retaking in June and aiming for 99th percentile. Anyways, I just started anti-depressant medication a few weeks ago, and am worried that it might be giving me brain fog/lack of motivation and focus. I feel pretty much the same, maybe just in a bit more of a positive mood. My last PT was a 177 (with medication), but it was also an older test. Has anyone had experience with medications affecting their score? I don't want to be in a situation where it affects my ability to focus on the test, and I end up with a lower score in June....

Hello! As I work through problem sets, I'm realizing that I'm "spoiling" full-length practice tests. Are the problem sets meant to be worked through fully? Anyone have any strategies on how to save untouched PTs, while also getting enough practice before "graduating" to taking full-length PTs? Any advice would be appreciated. #help

Hi everyone,

I would really like some advice on should I take the October 2021 LSAT. I'm an international student currently in Asia and was originally planning on taking the April, June, and July LSAT-Flex. However, as LSAC cancelled the July test this year and I'm not eligible to take the August test due to being an international student, I'm struggled between taking the October test or not. I've already registered for the April and June test, but I'm not 100% sure that I can reach my ideal score in these two attempts. Therefore, I'm just wondering does everyone think the October test's score will be too late for the 2022 admission cycle? (I know that theoretically we can get our scores back before Thanksgiving but I really wanna send out all my applications before November).

Any advice would help!

Analysing a test

I just took my diagnostic and got a 159. I am not sure about how I should analyse the test now. Should I just go through the explanations of the questions I got wrong. I am not exactly sure how to proceed. If someone could give me some tips that would be great
